TONIGHT`S DINNER

grannyactivist am i in the presence of a fellow allotmenteer? Have you ever tried Courgette Surprise? (It's a surprise it's not courgettes/runner beans/swiss chard etc).

Tonight's dinner Quorn tagine with a packet of microwave mixed grains as we are out to local am dram. It's ok, not very exciting- both the dinner and the am dram!

Thanks jamside and janerowena. We've had tons of courgette fritters cooked in several different ways and also have some in the freezer. Have also had courgettes with pasta, rice and couscous - cooked in a dozen different ways. Courgettes in cakes, courgettes in quiches, courgettes in my dreams....in my nightmares....courgettes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. And now my husband has just returned from the allotment with.....yes, more courgettes. So tonight's dinner is courgettes with chick peas, tomorrow will be courgette curry and if there are any left after that I shall skewer my beloved husband and have courgette kebabs!!!

Tonight, we are having fillet steak with a brandy, mushroom and cream sauce (from an old Dairy Diary!!) with tenderstem and sauted potatoes. It's DH's favourite!!

It's our anniversary and we had planned to go out but, as I was ill yesterday, we thought discretion was the better part of valour.

After DH will be trying his Adnam's whisky!!

Have a great holiday Tiggypiro we too visit my son and family near Brighton and friends say 'have a lovely time' when in reality we help with the children, DH does some DIY and by the time we leave we are very tired and can't wait to get home.

We are having chicken fajitas with dips from Sainsbury's .

Tonight it will be eggy sandwiches followed by a home grown apple eaten at the airport while I wait to go on my hols. And this is to be a 'proper' holiday not a 'visit the family and do lots of jobs' holiday. YIPEE !!

Tuna and prawn pasta. Sautéed onions and garlic and sliced mushrooms with a tin of tuna and some king prawns, fines herbs, a glass of white wine and a carton of cream to create the sauce. No pudding tonight, pasta is very filling.

Courgettes sliced and cut into half moons. Gently sauté sliced garlic, add courgette and some red chilli. Saute on high for about 3 mins, add chopped basil, lots of ground pepper, toss into pasta and top with Parmesan. Lovely and super quick.

Courgette fritters. Grate courgettes, add salt and pepper and enough flour to make into a paste. (do not drain) Put an inch of oil in the bottom of a pan, add a tbsp. of mixture to very hot fat, turn when brown underneath. Absolutely delicious. Save on kitchen paper on a plate until all mixture is cooked. You can do about three at a time. It's what I do when I get sick of ratatouille. Use a dip or sauce if liked, it goes with anything.

For as long as I can remember I've been trying to make courgettes and tomatoes into a meal that doesn't taste the same as we had the night before. Now we are down to our last few tomatoes and three courgettes I decided I just couldn't face them one more time and so tonight we had a wonderful lasagne made with leeks, onions and garlic from the allotment and delicious puy lentils. Delicious.

A very boring ham salad - and the rain hasn`t stopped tipping down all day but it needed using up

I'm waiting for an avocado to ripen. Then I can have it with dressed crab and Marie Rose sauce.

The lamb stew with dumplings was FANTSTIC, thank you Linda.

Ours will be monkfish in sherry and saffron with pinenuts and raisins, brown rice and an avocado salad.
We are redoing our kitchen floor so I need something quick and easy.

Mine sounds plain and boring compared... anyway we love lambs liver and bacon with onions in gravy, with mash and green beans..
I'll be bad and have some Tesco mint choc chip ice cream and OH will have half a packet of ginger nuts with his cup of tea half way through the evening .

Galen If I had any ham I would make ham and eggs, if I had any eggs.

I would make lemon chicken but Gary has put the lemon tree that has lemons on it in the greenhouse and I can't get at it!
Come to think of it I haven't any chicken either.
Oh well! Beans on toast are healthy

Grannyknot thank you for putting that recipe on. It sounds delicious and looks really easy to do. I will give it a try soon as I love smoked mackerel.

jam it is and so easy! I bought the mackerel from a local farmer's market, home smoked. It was delicious, melt in the mouth (and that was me tasting prior to putting it in the dish!) I'll put the recipe on the recipe thread now.

Tonight we had home made celery soup with (also home made) cheese scones.

Tagine of potatoes, carrots and peas from new recipe book, plus couscous and fresh fruit for afters. Tagine seems to be popular tonight!

Homemade chicken korma, spiced potatoes, rice and nann bread.

Tagine of lamb, spices, chickpeas, aubergines and courgettes with poached quinces (we have a quince mountain).

Bangers, mash and veg cooked by DS as it is the GSs favourite.
