The principle being you eat during 8 hours out of 24 and fast for 16 to suit your lifestyle, a few people have shown an interest since Jane10 posted her pleasing results. For more details best to look up more details online as I'm new to it as well.
I’d have been fine tonight but 3 Jaffa cakes broke out of the tin and forced their way into my mouth and so as to avoid choking I had to wash them down with a cheeky little montepulciano.
Thanks for starting this thread, it’s great to be able support each other. I’ve not felt hungry today, but then again it’s day one ?. I’m debating whether to weigh myself tomorrow morning as a base line and get a shock, or just to judge weight loss by how loose my clothes become.
Best place to look online is Diet Doctor. He explains all about the benefits of fasting. The excellent thing about the 16:8, is that you spend most of it asleep.
I don't weigh myself. I have a test pair of jeans. I've eaten an awful lot of high calorie food this weekend. Within the 16:8 limits more or less. Today is exactly 3 weeks since I started. I'll do the jeans test next Monday to see if I've lost any more. I can see my hip bones btw!
Am going to try this but I am going to start slowly by gradually increasing the gap. The first night managed 12 hours, today it's 13 so no breakfast until 8am. Don't think this is what's recommended but I find it easier that way.
I’m following your example Loopy. Cheese on toast last night at half five and nothing since except a coffee, but I need morning pills which have to be taken with food, so I’ll put them off a bit today and a bit more tomorrow. Tomorrow is on a looser anyway as we’ve been invited out for an evening dinner!
I'm also afraid of the scales so will do the tight-jeans test, like jane .Started at 17.30 yesterday so only a couple of hours til breakfast time though I've already had two cups of coffee.
Mawbroon, That reminds me there are 2 Jaffa cakes left in the cupboard, waiting to leapt out on to the work top then into my mouth, while I am having coffee. Bought the packet for my 2 DGC and have never seen JCs move so fast.
I'm inspired by Jane10's success to give it a go. I'm not normally a breakfast fan, so that part should be easier. Plus I'm going to keep the carbs down. So perhaps just one slice of my fave wholemeal every couple of days.... and no potatoes on some days. Hey ho, in for a penny!
I am giving it a go too - am not a great breakfast eater anyway as cereals and toast - as much as I enjoy them set off reflux! Have weighed this morning to have a base line.
Oh no. Now I'm worrying about the responsibility of enticing Grans on to this eating approach. I only posted on Saturday because I was so surprised at my apparent melting that I had to tell someone and DH was out. The cat wasn't interested!
Don’t worry about being responsible, hopefully most people will be aware that some diets don’t work for them. My weight stayed off mostly ( apart from these 10lbs) after doing the 5:2, but alternate days. I was going back to it after 3 years, but I’m trying this instead.
Day one and so far so good - now 1pm here and just had two drinks. Got jacket potatoes in and will do fish and veg for lunch and have some lovely chicken stock I made yesterday from a carcass - soup this evening with lots in it. Found accidentally that it helps to oversleep - we were late getting up - so started the day an hour behind!
I've started this since jane10 posted about it. Thinking back to my Nurse training days, I never ate breakfast, and only ate in the afternoon and evening. I was 8 stone 2 lbs in those days. I wonder if I'll manage to get down to that?. Today I had nothing except for a cup of tea until 1pm when I had beef stew and Yorkshire pudding for lunch. I'll wait now until after 6pm before having my supper.
Breakfast at 9 am (egg on gf toast), soup and a yogurt at lunch-time and a sneaky piece of cake which I made yesterday don't know yet for dinner which I will aim for at 5.30
When you say you can have a drink in the 16 hours, does that mean tea or coffee with milk or does it have to be without?
