The BBC Horizon programme looked at diets that recommended some form of fasting. The scientist who was investigating, tried a diet where he ate normally for 5 days in a week and on the other 2 days he had a restricted calories intake of 600 calories [women -500]. In about 5 weeks he lost just over 5lbs and it seemed to have a good effect on his cholestral etc [sorry about the spelling] You can watch the programme on Youtube. I've been doing it for 10 days and I'm amazed that I've lost 6 and a half pounds so far. But I do have a lot to lose! Good luck
