Our Mothers Day is in May, as we followed US traditions (never a good idea IMHO ) instead of our British origins and the more spiritual Mothering Sunday.

I've been given an unexpected food voucher so will treat myself to something I don't usually buy, probably lamb chops. Heehee

My son gave me a very expensive looking and rather florid card with (sweet) words inside...
I whispered to my daughter-in-law "was this you?" She laughed and nodded.

My lovely but troubled daughter has packed her bags and gone home again after cross words. 🤐 She has been messaging me (including yesterday) and has left me a lovely hand-painted mother's day gift so all is not lost.
I am worried about her and her little one but it's hard to live with your parents as an adult.
I know I couldn't have done it... and I know I'm not easy.

Yesterday I went to an art exhibition and then on for lunch and then afternoon tea with my oldest daughter and family. In the evening we had a couple of jolly hours with my younger daughter and boyfriend.
In spite of the upset from two days ago, I did have a lovely day.
And today my unhappy daughter has messaged me hoping I had a good day yesterday. She sounds chirpier. Fingers crossed she is OK

Ixion I loved your card...that is so me. The girls used to be in fits of laughter when guests were coming and everything including the airing cupboard had to be tidied....Mum why does the airing cupboard have to be tidied? Well its just in case someone opens the wrong door on the way to the bathroom.

Yesterday was lovely I didn't dwell on what was missing but concentrated on what I had... We went to Dunster Castle and the drive through the countryside with swathes of daffodils and banks of primroses was a joy apart from when DH forgot he was driving a car and was back on his motor cycle complete with tilting of body as he apexed ( no idea if that is how it's spelt) towards bends.
I didn't actually realise until I nearly tilted into his lap ..cue hysterics from us both.

DF in the back seat just gripped the seat belt and door handle very firmly.

The slope up to the entrance is nigh on vertical and was a challenge to say the least...DH who I love dearly was not going to let me struggle so pushed me up from behind....goodness knows what it looked like we were doing...but I think the face of the guy dressed in a civil war outfit who was standing at the entrance said it all.

NS I'm glad your unhappy daughter has messaged you today. She has taken it out on you because you are her Mum and as Mum's we are there to have the flak thrown at us in the safe knowledge that we will love them whatever and you will. I know this to be true I really hope life gets happier for her soon

Kaimoana....go get those lamb chops and enjoy them. The farmer next door ( the one who comes to dinner every Monday) has got 18 lambs so far. If I go and see them I won't be able to have lamb on Easter Sunday...I just can't bring myself to cook it. I've got a beautiful leg of lamb in the freezer and each time I think...I will cook it so I remember bottle feeding the triplets and back it goes.

Yes I agree NotSpaghetti must be very much loved that DD feels she can depend on her mum in emergencies despite cross words.

A lot to do this week and I should begin now but I'm just back from exercise class drinking coffee and recovering from the weekend which was very good as usual.

I stayed watching the same potter all the time. He was excellent and very funny teasing us about the rugby and our strange Scottish customs. Those are his pots in the photo. One little jug found its way into my bag.😊

I even danced at the ceilidh until midnight.

I took quite a few photos but this one was rather chilling. It's a submarine coming down the coast on its way from Faslane to the Strait of Hormuz.

Ooh NN you always cheer me up. Such a lovely sense of humour. I had to laugh at the thong. I have never (hardly ever) worn one. I go for comfort rather than style.
I did have a lovely time with sons. Nice way for you to think about your family. Hope it helps.

Oh Ixion that’s nice. I didn’t have a sloppy card either. One had flowers on and the other a picture of a grinning dog. I did have some lovely choccies though.

I just heard that my DGD is in hospital with suspected appendicitis. DD is with her and they're waiting for results of blood tests. Such a worry and nothing I can do to help.

Just when I thought all I had to worry about was tomorrow's visit from the solicitor.
I've been trying to tidy up a bit today.

Don't forge to tidy the airing cupboard Gram just in case the solicitor decides to look inside

She's in a ward about to have an ultrasound scan. Her blood tests came back abnormal which sounds ominous.
I wish I could be a help but I'll wait until I get word. DD is with her.

There are 2 visits today. Estate agent this morning and solicitor this afternoon.

I've had to alert my tenants who will be invaded.

My airing cupboard (actually an old "school cupboard") is perfectly tidy - it's the rest of the house that's total chaos!

Meanwhile my garden girl came and cut the grass. She told me her cousin would have aboard that submarine I spotted. Such a small world. There's a lot going on.

Hello from a gloriously sunny day on the east coast. Has spring come at last?! Airing cupboards and me dont get on well as quite bizarrely I was putting things into the airing cupboard when I had my stroke. Never been keen on putting washing away since!

DH had his first immunotherapy last Monday. All seemed to go ok. He had hospital transport for the 45 mile journey and that also seemed to go without problems. Fingers crossed everything carries on in the same vein! Next session in 3 weeks.
Naughtyneine I have 2 daughters and they can be difficult creatures cant they? However must say both mine have been brilliant since my stroke. Eldest who lives 80 miles away comes with her husband every 6 weeks or so and cooks a meal and generally cheers us up and the youngest who lives locally pops in every so often and babysits me when DH has medical appointments- not that I really need babysitting!
Doodle Strange how suddenly we seem to get so easily tired. Nodded off this afternoon and really have done very little today unlike you. Just going out for a coffee wears me out. Have GP appointment on Friday so must ask if this is normal. I know that’s common after a stroke but surely not almost 4 years afterwards!

The wee girl is out and the appendix is out. Thankfully. She was in theatre for about 3 hours. Still asleep but such a relief.
I am exhausted so I guess DD will be!

So glad your DH hospital outing went ok Jan. Let's hope the treatment works.

My solicitor came this afternoon and I have a list of things to do to get the house ready for marketing. I don't think he was too impressed by my attempts at decluttering.

He thinks all my big furniture should go. I will have to step up my efforts.

So pleased your arrangements for DH's treatment worked well, Jan. To have the travel taken care of will be a huge relief and leave you to concentrate on his ongoing recovery.

So pleased your DGD is ok Grammaretto what a worrying time for you today. Sounds good news from the estate agent but not so from the solicitor. What will you do with your furniture? Store it or sell it? Hope things work out for you it would be nice to see you settled in a comfortable home where you’re happy.
Jan good to hear your DH’s treatment and transport went well. Hope it continues to do so. Yes the tiredness seems to have come on in the last couple of years. I used to be a very speedy house cleaner, could do it all in one day. Now it’s 10 minutes work and 20 minutes rest,

I spent this afternoon gathering stuff to take to the tip and taken it.
I've tried to book a stall at a table sale for Saturday.

DD is hoping to bring DGD home tonight. She's looking so pale and poorly in the photos but children bounce back don't they?

Tomorrow I have at least 10 people from U3A coming for a pottery session. That's after my volunteering morning at the Store.

The solicitor pointed out that my big furniture will not fit in anywhere I'm likely to move to as it's truly enormous so I shall have to have to sell it or give it away.

Annoyingly I will have to have another home report done as they have a very short shelf life

Well I suppose that’s true about the furniture but if you really don’t want to part with it and the children won’t take it you could put it into storage for a while.

Good morning at art. Walking group tomorrow

My parents well, Mum inherited some extremely large items of furniture when my grandmother died. A couple of Edwardian triple wardrobes, a double that as children we used to hide in, at the back of the shelves 😱, a hefty armoire, a 'what not'.

My DM, on widowhood and downsizing, successfully got rid of them to a large country hotel where they were snapped up for furnishing baronial-type bedrooms.

Anything like that around you, Grammaretto?
