Naughtyneine I think you will enjoy the Motor Museum once you get there. Most things we aren't looking forward to are better in "real life"... and after all you aren't being dragged off to a "works do" (which in my opinion are something to avoid at almost any cost).

🦞🦂 *What are we up to?*🦂🦞
(1001 Posts)Sorry Grammaretto - spent hours yesterday at my mother-in-law's house...
Day off today. Pizza at my daughter's
Hope other 🦞🦂 are OK
Thank you Grammaretto I’m sure you know what it’s like too. How lovely your dinner party sounds.
NN sounds like a good time is being had by all. Have a lovely weekend.
What a beautiful picture of camp life you paint NN. I wish I had only pink jobs to do!
I have to bring the wood in, put up the new painting which involved getting out the wobbly steps and searching for hooks and hammer and cool the wine, cook the dinner and clear up afterwards 😁
It's worth it though. I had a lovely little dinner party last night. A May Day tradition?
We watched Mr deer cavorting around the blue bells. Here's a photo but he's just left.
I'm so sad for you Doodle. I wish I could make it all better.
Sending you a cwtch Doodle...and anyone else who needs one just now. I'm currently still in bed in Maevemouse
DH has done the early morning dog walk I just give them treats when he brings them back. That's a pink job as opposed to a blue job that it seems every male on the site seems to thrive on Anything involving a gadget, a tool, some blocky things that have to have a spirit level checked from every angle and much tapping to ensure said blocky things are in the right place.
The females me included stay well out of the way while all this takes place and stick to making sure the sun loungers are correctly placed and just to be sure have to lay on them with a book and tea close to hand.
DH has embraced this outdoor life wholeheartedly and we are fully set up with extra lights, an awning , cables that do I know not what and we are perched on said blocky things too. ( Clutch your pearls, when I first saw a motorhome with the blocks in place I asked if they were to stop the van rolling if the occupants got a bit too frisky).
We are at a site not far from Beaulieu which is our destination today it's the Gardeners World Spring show and the reason I suggested coming away in Maevemouse DH momentarily thought I wanted to go to the Motor Museum.
as if !!!!!
That said I may have to show willing tomorrow unless I can sound ever so thoughtful and say I'll stay with the 'children' while you go and enjoy yourself.
In the meantime I have a pink job to do.....put the croissants in the oven and arrange the bunch of daffs. Wishing you all a peaceful day.
*Doodle - I hate loo seats up too!*🙀
Wow Grammaretto what an amazing ceremony. Hope you don’t get the ingredient for you rich pie and lemon cake mixed up. 🫢
Jan £5 for 2 hours might seem a lot but my local place for nice walks is £35 entry fee or £120 for year.
Grammaretto please make sure when they take photos that the toilet seats are down (as I’m sure they would be). So many homes these days have photos with them up. I’m very prim when it comes to that. 🤣
Kaimoana I’m thinking of you too.
Sorry I’m a bit quiet at the moment. I’m not in a food place this month. Will post every day but might not say much. I’m missing my dear man so very much. Time heals as they say but what they don’t say is the more time passes the more it hurts. Take care all
Good to see you Jan. My mother used to tell me that rich people were rich because they were mean and didn't spend their money, hence the cost to visit Royal palaces.
The King's Gallery in Edinburgh costs a hefty sum to see works of art gifted to the Royal family. Hmm. I go because the art is fabulous.
The weather has turned and we now have a light rain. The garden definitely needs it but alas that could be the end of the hot dry spell.😟
Do we have a Bank holiday in Scotland? We don't seem to have any banks so how come there are holidays. The house photographer is coming. He'll do a hybrid selection with DD. There are still mountains of stuff in most rooms but I can't clear it in time for photos.
How is Kaimoana?
Hi All and especially our busy busy lady Grammaretto. Love to hear about all your doings Grammaretto. Youre always doing interesting things unlike me who at the moment is lounging lazily around listening to the so beautiful sound of Mr Blackbird singing his heart out in our garden. I love the blackbirds song they always seem to be enjoying singing. Heard yesterday that blackbirds only live for 4 years which I thought was so sad. Its yet another glorious day in Norfolk. Wall to wall sun and the wind has dropped so its actually warm! Quiet weekend for us coming up. Not a fan of Bank holidays- too many people around! We are out for lunch on Sunday with our neighbours. Tony has Parkinsons and hes a poor old boy now but loves to get out and about. Bank holiday Monday should be quiet. Theres some big show on at Sandringham with an eye watering entrance fee! Afraid Charles is not the most popular person roundhere at the moment. When we had our dog a few years ago we would take her for walks round the woods having parked for free. Now it suddenly costs £5 for I think 2 hours. Cue locals banging their drums in protest! Have a great weekend everyone
Beltane Fire Festival: Pictures of the celebrations - BBC News share.google/CxJlCkMMzsb1OaM0K
How are the Lobstars? I feel I monopolise this thread. Please join in. I love to read about your doings.
My co worker at the café store was celebrating Beltane on Carlton hill last night along with 10,000 others. She told me it was amazing, a clear night and lots of fabulous costumes. Most were wishing for peace.
I'm home now and about to make a fish pie and a lemon cake.
What a lovely caravan Grammaretto Fingers crossed for good news on the doer upper.
We collect so much don’t we. Mind you some times things are hard to part with.
I’ve had a lovely day with art friends and a good lunch by the lake. Sunny but oh so windy,
I think 🤔. it's a bow top caravan.
I've been feeling a bit yuck after my covid jag but better after taking paracetamol and going back to sleep.
I've been to collect the painting I bought last week. I shall have to find some picture hooks now. It can take pride of place when DD takes the photos on Sunday.
I shall take another car full of stuff I don't need to the tip this afternoon. I hope I never gather so much dross again.
The house must be marginally clearer but nothing like the ones you see when browsing on line.
Where do people put all their stuff!
How lovely she is Grammaretto!
😍
That's the shape I used to know as a "barrel-top".
I've seen similar waggons described as "bow-top" though. Maybe they were different in some way...What do you call this shape in Scotland?
That must have been nice Doodle.
Busy old day here
The caravan left. Cue tears.
A posse from the hysterical Historical society arrived to look through some stuff. They have promised to take it away but in a few weeks time.
The agent phoned me from the do-er upper and I am still in with a chance.
DD is going to take the house photos.
We are all arranging to go south for the sad funeral in a week or so.
Tonight was Gaelic class for the Summer term. A new man has joined who's very keen.
How's everyone else's day been?
Grammaretto i hâte it when people promise to come and then don’t turn up. It’s rude and a waste of your time.
Glad you got company tonight.
Church for me in the morning then lunch with two friends at the hospice.
Cor! You're gorgeous Ixion. I don't know about the bike - they don't do much for me.
I have a friend who rides a motorbike. She's female but used to be male iykwim which may explain her interest in motorbikes or is that just me being sexist?
DH was a big fan of Marianne Faithful.
I haven't liked many other houses enough to look at them in person NotSpaghetti. I'm still keen on the doer-upper but it will depend on my selling this.
The caravan man didn't come. The bookman didn't come. Tomorrow morning someone from the historical society is supposed to be coming to see if they can take anything.
Luckily a couple of friends came to see me and tonight I was at a talk about old Edinburgh and all the poverty and disasters therein. It wasn't the most cheery evening.
I am glad the funeral was a good one Doodle. I must book a train to my DBiL funeral.
Night night friends.
Oh Ixion i remember watching that too. Marianne Faithful in very revealing skin tight black leather. Ooh is that you? You look lovely.
I have been to a funeral today for a lovely man from our congregation. It was a beautiful service in a really lovely church.
Exercise class for me tomorrow. I need it I seem to be getting bigger and bigger,
Ah, motorbikes!
Takes me back to some very mixed memories.
Sitting through an excruciatingly erotic film at the pictures so my then boyfriend could ogle at the bike.
Ostensibly.
Alain Delon and Marianne Faithful in Girl on a Motorcycle (1968).
Say no more.
A photo taken in Crete, where all the police had, apparently, 1000cc Harley Davidsons (sic).
The local police weren't that keen, it seemed, on having their bikes closely inspected and photographed by tourists, especially long-haired student-y types.
Just go and stand over there, will you, so I can take your photo? Boyfriend asks.
Ooh, thinks me. How romantic 😍
Transpires full frontal was the bike, I was an extra to his tableau after all.
Was I really that willowy? 😳
I have, on various recommendations on Gransnet, downloaded the Merlin app.
I am now, apparently, a Birding Bestie
How is the house hunting going Grammaretto?
I have wasted half a day waiting at my mother-in-law's house for someone to come for her mobility scooter.
Such a blooming nuisance
Then I spent too long a while at the hairdresser and had a perm
I think I look pretty bouncy... and not just my tum this time!
Maybe I will bounce into action and get some books listed online!
The solicitor is more of a slug than anything bouncy. Still hasn't submitted the forms for probate but only has till the end of May
Sorry to mix up names.
You look fine on the back of the bike NN. Although daring in shorts the cold 🥶
I'm waiting in for the man who says he's going to take the Gypsy caravan to actually take the Gypsy caravan.
🙄
I hope Lobstars are doing well.
Surely not Naughtyneine! That's not a hippo it's someone with four legs!
Night night all. Been to church twice today. Lovely sermons both times. Also did ling walk. I’m very tired now so off to bed. Hope all are ok.
aw Jan that's a lovely image of you on the back of the bike not the hippo one!
I went out in my youth with a biker. It was fun but rather cold as I recall.
I've been busy all day with 3 friends trying to clear a room ready for the photographer next week. I have become ruthless and quite enjoyed the buzz.
I drove to the tip only to be told it had closed early as all the skips were full. It must be a Spring thing. 😂
The cinema tonight is a silent movie with Music man playing the piano. It's a fund raiser for my house which seems odd with me paying towards my own house!
The other contenders have withdrawn now.
I have had to apologise to my lodgers for the mountain of books in our joint hallway.
I said it will get worse before it gets better.
My friends helped to clear the broken glass and rescue things from my wee cottage.
It is a reminder that I need to find a safer place to live out my later years.
