Do you have a surge in Coronavirus cases?

My son started with it last week, he has a cough now that would wake people in the next village. He hasn’t felt ill though, just completely wiped out with tiredness.

Neighbour had it over the last bank holiday weekend - said it was as bad as the first time he had it!!

It has not gone! People have relaxed and stopped being watchful..

We just had it two weeks ago. We're over it now.

Apparently I had Covid at Easter although I didn’t know it at the time. I was better in a week. I just thought it was a cold. I didn’t have the booster last Autumn and wasn’t offered it this Spring.

I haven’t heard of any in NE England.

DH and I both have it as have 2 sons, a dil and a daughter.

DH tested as he takes Radiotherapy patients to their appointments and the rest of us have very similar symptoms so assume it is also covid.

Lots of my choir were missing today apparently as well.

My friend had it last week,she only tested because she has a 96 year old mother,who she would not want to pass it onto.Our local hospital is full of it,but no word about it in the media.Glad to have had another vaccine recently.

I think the point is if you get Covid it’s not as bad if you have had the vaccination. People of my age will have had about 8 now.

I have had a lot of Covid vaccines but I have to say that after a couple of them I caught Covid within 10 days which made me wonder if I was doing the right thing. Probably the virus was milder because of the vaccines, at least that is what I tell myself. It certainly wasn’t preventative.

Where I live in Sweden there is a very nasty strain of Covid doing the rounds - much worse than previous strains. I spent 2 weeks in bed with the most terrible coughing and a fever and it is only now (week 4) that I am getting over it.

Impossible to know here in NH, USA because 1) Covid is no longer "reportable" so no one's counting; 2) so many in the CDC have been Doge'd; and 3) CDC grants to NH have been Doge'd. Next Fall will be scary with so little surveillance. *Get the vaccines! They do NOT "compromise immunity", certainly not as much as the illnesses do!!! I get shots when the times atre right to lessen the risks associated with Shingles, Pneumonia, RSV, Influenza, Covid, etc. And I mask up (also lessens risk, especially if you wear them correctly) when in airports (petri dishes). ...Good health to all.

Many of those who seem to be sick, have had multiple boosters. We have known for a long time now that it compromises immunity and so many have stopped having these shots.

We have avoided it so far.

I hope there isn't a surge in cases as I can't have the booster anymore. Had 3 vaxs but serious side effects after each one, and not just a temperature and feeling a bit off.

I had Covid at Christmas last year and had to spend it alone as I was unable to visit my family as planned. It turned out they had been ill already but hadn't tested. Now that testing is less frequent many people who get it mildly may not even know! As a result any published figures are unlikely to be accurate.
I do think in general that people are more likely to stay away from others when ill since the pandemic. I rarely had time off sick when I was working and sometimes went in when maybe I shouldn't have done. Memorably I remember working for two days when very unwell because OFSTED were inspecting us and when I said I thought I was going down with something, was told if I was off sick I'd need a doctor's certificate, so I coughed and sneezed my way through both days spreading my lurgy around to staff, students and inspectors alike!
Now I often hear that someone from my social circle is staying away from some event as they don't feel 100% and want to protect others. However that may be because we're all getting on in years and are aware some of our friends are vulnerable, so may not apply to the younger geneations.

I still don't seem to have totally shaken off the virus I had last December, although I tested negative for Covid.
Let's hope it doesn't take off again and these are just isolated areas which stay contained.

However, I'm shocked that someone with Covid was put in a room with another patient but not entirely surprised. It reminded me of when my DN was in hospital during lockdown with an unrelated problem and they wanted to move him from the acute ward to the Covid ward to recuperate because that was the only bed they could find! Thank goodness he refused.

I didn't get my booster this year. Wise or unwise? No idea. Some months ago I read GN views on having it and did my "pros and cons" column. The cons came out top!

I found it somewhat ironic that the tester kits were made in China!

I really hope not! After 4 years, I thought at last I'd got over Long Covid. Went for an hour long walk yesterday. Felt I couldn't get enough oxygen in bed last night. Eventually fell asleep. Exhausted today. Thing is with Covid - a significant percentage of people who get it find the after effects difficult to shake off. Another surge will mean more LC people..
