Good morning from a brightening breezy northwest coast. My Covid side effects are moving off🤞as is the crick in my neck, so it’s about time I roused myself. Another quiet day yesterday and I continue my resurrection of Classic British telly, this time “Clayhanger” 1985, Arnold Bennett. Apart from naff sets, I’m really enjoying them.

I’ll go to the music club today, but may not sing as I haven’t practised.
Welcome effiecat, lovely pics BlueSapphire and glad you are back safe and sound Ash🌺

MaryD! That’s looks a familiar scenario! Get well soon.

Redcar Tue 27-Oct-26 07:26:01

marydoll that looks suspiciously like A&E to me! I hope you won’t be there for too long but that they can actually help your health problems. Sending a gentle hug.

karmalady Tue 27-Oct-26 07:26:32

Thanks Helterskelter I think I am ok re the conditions, I have just checked again and only need to have to have two DDs to come out in 28 days

MD The curtains gave it away, maybe just maybe you will at last be sorted. I hope all goes well

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 27-Oct-26 07:27:55

I hope your hospital stay is a short one Marydoll and that you are soon considered fit enough for discharge.

Jaxjacky Tue 27-Oct-26 07:33:57

Morning from a wet and mild S Hants, welcome effiecat.
Yesterday the voluntary phone was exceptionally quiet, I even rang the number myself to check it was working!
It rained until early afternoon, we still need more rain, but looking at the greener garden memories of the summer heat are fading.
Granddaughter and friend now in Munich for a few days, I’m hoping for pictures.
Slow cooker on today, some dusting (where does it come from) and a couple of phone calls to make.
Enjoy your day if you can.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s been a very wet and windy night, more of the same today
Welcome effiecat 👋
Gorgeous pictures BlueSapphire such blue sky!
I’m going to the gym this morning and then I’ve a much needed hair appointment this afternoon. A busy day but all good and I’ll catch up with all the local news at the hairdressers
Sorry to hear about the parking ticket grandmabatty, frustrating but easily done
Oh Marydoll ❤️
Hoping everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

Good morning Mick and everyone from breezy Carlisle.

Marydoll ! I have guessed where you are! I hope you're soon out of there and back home with nothing seriously amiss. Best wishes.

Welcome Effiecat, another wind blown Scot! You are all seemingly getting a rough time up there this season.

Yesterday was a busy morning of housework, the afternoon an idle one of reading and puzzling. I didn't go for a walk, too windy and showery.

Today it's into town on various errands and I'll treat myself to coffee out. I have a bag of items for the charity shop too. Nothing seems to make a dent in the contents of my wardrobes and drawers though.

Must go, I have some necessary photocopying to do before I leave.

Best wishes to all!

Grandmabatty Tue 27-Oct-26 07:44:56

Marydoll I hope your stay is a short one.

latedecember1963 Tue 27-Oct-26 07:47:25

Sending love, Marydoll. 😘

Good Morning from a bright and breezy Durham. I’ve overslept.
Not the best of places Marydoll but you might just get some much needed help. I once asked the ‘big boss’’ in Tesco to help pack my bags - and he did.
I’m meeting a friend for an early coffee at 10am, then home before an appointment with the Podiatrist.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Shropshire.Dry and breezy at the moment.

After physio yesterday we decided to have lunch out and headed off towards Llangollen. The drive was lovely seeing all the autumn colours and then lunch in a new to us cafe.

Today stretch and balance class followed by coffee.

Oh Marydoll😢I hope you soon get a bed in cardiology and that you get the treatment you need and will soon be home🙏🏻💐

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Still blowing a hoolie.
Glad you got home safely Ash

Hello Effiecat and welcome. I hope your oak tree is ok. My apple tree of 45 years fell over on Sunday despite having picked most of the fruit. A tree surgeon is coming today to see if he can save it.

DD 's power and water came back on yesterday but trees are blocking many roads in the Highlands. The DGC got to school a very long way round. After 2 weeks half term they were stir crazy.

Are you still waiting MD? Wishing you and DH well.

I spoke to Stilllearning yesterday. She's not able to post but keeps up when she can. She's waiting for an assessment before she buys the wrong eyesight aids.

I must hurry up and catch the bus to my dental appointment.

Love your photos Blue. I haven't been to Croatia for over 50 years. I wonder how much it has changed.

Enjoy your day the best you can everyone.

Harris27 Tue 27-Oct-26 08:02:46

Oh dear hope things improve for you marydoll I do enjoy your posts as I’m a bit of a lurker. It just shows how overstretched our health service is and it’s only the start of winter. 🤞

Aldom Tue 27-Oct-26 08:07:31

Sending positive thoughts to you Marydol. I hope by now you have a bed on the ward and that something good comes out of this.
A gentle hug 🤗

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE where it is 10° with a forecast of 12° later.
Very windy during the night, had to wear earplugs to get some sleep.
Yesterday was another day of doing nothing, the pain in my shoulder and neck was dreadful.
Sorry to hear you are in hospital Marydoll, hope you get a bed in cardiology soon.
The state of A&E departments is desperate at present.
Welcome Effiecat.

Gingster Tue 27-Oct-26 08:14:00

Good morning all and the wind has returned as well as the rain.

Yesterday I bussed to Chimes and it took a while as there were two lots of temporary traffic lights holding up the traffic.
Coming back was much much worse and it took an hour instead of 20 minutes. Just crawling along and I was sat behind two stinky old men whose odour was made worse by them being damp from the rain.👃😵‍💫😬. I felt quite nauseous!

The handyman came to see exactly what we need doing and will start on Wednesday. Probably 3 days work and hopefully carpets next week 🤞.
I’ve decided against new blinds as we would probably choose the same colour and style as our ‘old’ ones. I was only egged on by ds2 who seems to get new everything at the drop of a hat.
He recommended electric ones too - I’m not inclined to go to that expense, especially when not needed. Maybe in a couple of years time. .

I must do a small shop this morning (why am I always low on something and always topping up). Bridge this afternoon.

Marydoll 💐.
Welcome effiecat.
Take care all and keep safe in that wind.

Good morning from a bright Leicestershire.

So sorry to see you are in Hospital Marydoll I hope you will be home soon.

I have just had to run down the road in my dressing gown hauling my brown bin down the road as I had forgotten to put it out. The bin men were lovely.

I had to speak to my neighbour yesterday as one of their trees has split and is about to fall in my garden. He was very nice but the last I saw of him he was trying to tie it with a piece of string!
They have a few trees on our side of the garden which he keeps promising to cut back.

Today a trip to town. We find Tuesdays quiet.

dragonfly46 Tue 27-Oct-26 08:19:45

Welcome Effiecat.

Gagagran Tue 27-Oct-26 08:25:04

Good Morning everyone from a showery central south coast. It is milder though and the sun should be reappearing later and for the next day or two.

Glad you got back home safely "Ash" and sorry to see that our "Marydoll" is in hospital though it's probably the best place for her given her health battles. Hope for better news today.flowers

DH has an emergency appointment at the dentist today as he has broken off a tooth from his partial top plate. After much prompting (aka nagging) he made an appointment yesterday and also one for an annual eye test - also overdue.

Our planned visit to the garden centre to buy compost and winter pansies has been postponed until later in the week. The summer planting is still going but the pots need emptying and planting up with tulips for spring.

Take care everyone and hope the day is kind to us all.

Effiecat Tue 27-Oct-26 08:25:35

Thankyou for my welcome! I’m not new to Gransnet, having joined in its early days. I’ve rarely posted over the last while and haven’t kept up with any of the news, so I thought Michael’s friendly Good Morning thread would ease me back in.
I must get up! I’ve been lying in the same position for ages, but am loathe to disturb Effie (cat) who is slumbering on my feet! 😻 Got a good book to keep me occupied meanwhile, though.

aggie Tue 27-Oct-26 08:30:50

It’s a good bright and breezy morning here in Co Armagh,

Oh good grief ! I hope you get lots of help Marydoll 💐
I love OHs disregard for important people 🤣

We did a lot of food shopping. Daughter took me to an independant grocery store for home made ready meals , I had one for lunch , they really do taste home made
The patio furniture has been put away . I didn’t use it much this year , it was too hot outdoors for me
My porridge is cooling !
Have the best day you can xx

Marydoll Tue 27-Oct-26 08:43:00

I am quite miffed. No-one has asked me what date it is, or who the Prime Minister is.
I checked with DH, just in case.🤣

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 27-Oct-26 08:53:57

Morning all from a wild and woolly West Oxfordshire.

OH has finished disinfecting his bee hives and is storing them in the garage for the moment. The garden is now clear for our gardener to return, but will she want to at the moment in the wind and the rain?

I’ll try and have a COVID jab today, the pharmacy didn’t have any vaccine last week.

Today I’m hoping to start on a new sewing project. An old-fashioned eiderdown like my grandmother used to have. Basically, it will rest on top of a single bed. I’ve found an interesting patchwork pattern which involves making 18 x 12-inch blocks. OH will check my maths as I’m notorious for getting in a muddle with numbers!

We rang the Vet yesterday and cancelled Milo’s scan appointment. We have decided not to have any more intervention - the Vet wasn’t going to offer any treatment anyway because of Milo’s age. So, we will be keeping a very close eye on him until we feel he’s had enough.

Elder son sent us photos of their place in Scotland. They drove up over the weekend - they are a couple of hours from Inverness. They have a tree down and they had a power cut for several hours. It still looks beautiful.

Have a good day, especially those of you who are having difficulties - I’m thinking especially of MaryD!

Ashcombe Tue 27-Oct-26 09:07:41

Your recent post made us laugh, Marydoll. I do. hope you are soon settled on a ward with suitable treatment to help you feel better.

Having read your post about your forgotten bin, dragonfly46, we thought of the wonderful Lonnie Donegan song: My Old Man's A Dustman. Here are the lyrics for the relevant verse:-

Now, one day while in a hurry
He missed a lady's bin
He hadn't gone but a few yards
When she chased after him
"What game do you think you're playing"
She cried right from the heart
"You missed me, am I too late?"
"No, jump up on the cart!"
