Good morning Micheal and all.
Just browsing when your post appeared, one of these days you will be early enough to catch yourself in yesterday’s thread.
I wish you all a good weekend out of the heat if it arrives as promised/threatened.

Good morning from a mild, overcast Bristol. We may have rain today and the temperatures will not rise much above 20C. Perfect for me!
Our Spanish tutor is very good; he prepares the class thoroughly but often, like yesterday, lets it run with conversations. As we are so few, yesterday we were 3, it was more conversations. This week was about inventions. We had to read an article about Lazlo Biro and his eponymous ballpoint pen. I chose to write about the wheel. The other two were the inventor of cats eyes and artificial dyes.
In the afternoon, I joined the final block to my quilt and have very nearly finished. I still have the identical ones left to put together as I made too many; two quilts for the price of one…
Today, I’ve got church coffee, then I’m being picked up by DD to spend the afternoon with my two remaining offspring.
May you enjoy this nicer weather. I hope those in sick bay have made their way out. 🫂

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 36°C.

Thank you for all your kind comments re my nails yesterday. 😘

Had my usual blow dry. My lovely hairdresser had been for her pre-op, hopefully by this time next week she will be recovering from colon cancer surgery. She’s incredibly stoic, I admire her so much and wish she hadn’t been dealt this blow at such a young age.

The boys and DD3 came over after school and, as usual, had a great time playing together. I was worn out by the time they left at 6.30pm!

I’m expecting the handyman early this morning as he’s going to do some painting for me. I have a list of jobs for him to do at a later date. He seems very reliable, touch wood!

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning from sunny s somerset

I was gently busy all day yesterday, roomba cleaned all downstairs and upstairs while I pottered but certainly the house looks calm and tidy now. I did do a bit of de-cluttering and moved a couple of things to improve the energy flow.

Ds is safely home, it is one hack of a long journey back home to Aberdeen and it does make me feel cherished that he does this to see me

Tentative plans for today could be to cycle to the allotment and do some in-depth watering before I extend my ride back home. Then some sewing prep, I have finally decided to turn a length of beautiful, boiled wool into a coat. I bought the wool in 2012 and prepared the paper pattern last night, Tessuti Brooklyn coat. The most I will do today is cut the fabric and thread my machine. I think I can also get two Tessuti Amara tops out of the fabric, one for each of my DDs

I watered my at-home veg plants first thing this morning and have opened windows and doors wide, while the air is cooler outside.

Good morning from a very warm Essex coast.
Today is the start of a two day survey, on our very small block of 9 flats, because we have a very small amount of cladding.
I am not looking forward to it at all.
On a happier note DD1 is 50 today, my baby. I shall ring her later.
DH and I will go into town for a few bits and coffee.
This evening we are going out to dinner to celebrate my birthday, which is tomorrow.
Take care everyone in the heat 🥵 , best wishes to all xx

Happy birthday tomorrow Sar53 🎂

Good morning from Cornwall where it's overcast and the tiniest breeze is wafting in across my bed. I had a lovely evening at my eldest son's, catching up with the grandchildren, seeing my dad's painting of Cornish rooftops which had finally arrived from the auction house and eating supper with them all when my hairdresser daughter-in-law arrived home from work.

My son and I love ants - I've probably bored you with this a hundred times already 😁 - and I saw his colony in his home office which now has four sections containing hundreds of eggs and baby ants. I'll no doubt be in charge of them when the family go on holiday.

Today I'll enjoy the cooler weather before the heat drives me indoors next week, and will revisit Toy Story 5 at the cinema this morning, to take in the details that bypassed me the other evening. Animation is such an incredible skill and Pixar excel at it. (Nerdy moment over. 😂)

My patio is calling. A large rogue squirrel came down from my wild wood yesterday morning and left a trail of destruction and mud but I've managed to restore the flattened plants, phew.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We are promised another fine day.

It was lovely seeing two cousins yesterday. We last saw one another the year before last at their father’s funeral. I made Coronation Chicken for lunch which went down well. It was too warm for a hot lunch. I make the original Constance Spry recipe which was invented for the late Queen’s Coronation.

OH is out today so I might just potter inside. I am finding this humid very warm weather difficult. There is a bit of ironing to do…

Have a good day everyone,

Good morning from a dry and bright Crewe whence we travelled yesterday but not without some difficulty!

On arrival at Torquay station, we discovered that our train to Stafford on which we’d booked seats was cancelled due to “animals on the line”! After considering various options, we chose to travel via Birmingham New St. Poor DH had to stand for most of the journey, despite being in First Class. Eventually, the young man sitting by me offered him his seat for half an hour. What a gentleman!

We are staying at The Crewe Arms Hotel, used to house asylum seekers for a while but, having undergone a refurbishment, now open for guests. It’s very near the station and was convenient for Giovanni’s where we were due to meet my DD2 and family for a meal. Her in laws joined us and my ex-husband and his wife. Good food and service contributed to a convivial evening along with the wine!

Later today we shall go to the Mitchell Arts Centre in Hanley to watch my DGD in her dance school show. Apparently, she will be in thirteen dances across various disciplines. She was very excited to see us all and spent much of the latter part of the evening rehearsing her dances in the garden when we were back at their house!

I hope everyone is having an equally pleasant weekend. 🦩💐🩰🥰🦩

Good morning from the long Sussex coast. It’s looking warm and sunny.
I have two bookcases made by our superb local joiner being fitted today.
Tomorrow to a classic car show with friends. Love the colours, shapes and nostalgia of the cars and I know I will be taking photos!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 20-Jun-26 06:49:22

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a forecast of 21°C with showers.

I’m up earlier than I like as L’il Miss woke bright eyed and bushy tailed at 6am
😮
We were playing word games and giggling within 5 minutes. She is a great
little entertainer and mimic but only with family - she’s far too shy to show her talents to others!
I’ve got TiB to revive me.

She will go home at noon with a lunch from Greggs for her and the Boy Wonder they love the chicken tenders, spicy chicken popcorn and potato wedges!

Later I’m expecting a visit from our Yorkshire Lass, her husband and his parents who are up this way visiting extended family in Didsbury nearby. They drive home to Banbury tomorrow apparently - so not a million miles from yourself Mick!

GrannyGravy13 Sat 20-Jun-26 06:54:33

Good morning from my little corner of Essex, apparently it’s going to be hot, summer has arrived 🌝

One of our Aussie contingent is making a flying visit today, we are going out for lunch and no doubt talking until our voices go…

Gagagran Sat 20-Jun-26 06:57:38

Good Morning everyone from a dull and cloudy central south coast. It is warm but not yet hot and like others have said, I shall be staying indoors in the coming heatwave.

Still not feeling very well after my fall a week ago. It is taking longer than I had hoped.

Take care everyone and hope those struggling with worries or problems of any sort have a better day.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 20-Jun-26 07:00:43

Good morning from a cool N Surrey. All doors and windows open to freshen up indoors.

I am dreading the mid 30s temperatures next week. I really felt the heat yesterday and to be honest it wasn't that hot.

We have a little robin who hops in through the kitchen doors to look for the dried meal worms I put down for him. But the damn squirrel has been known to come in as well and race round the house. And one evening a bat flew in. That made me squeak let alone him.

Marzipan Can you put a photo up of your Dad's picture of Cornish roof tops. I have a lovely memory of staying in a B&B in Polperro at about 10 years old. My little bedroom with a wide window seat was in the attic and from there I could look down over rooftops and chimney pots down to ths harbour. I think the bedroom woodwork was painted blue. Oh to go back in time. That was a lovely holiday. Almost 70 years ago. I expect Polperro has changed or maybe not.
Enjoy the cool day.

RosesandLilac Sat 20-Jun-26 07:04:39

Good morning, it’s cloudy here in south Glos. I’m not looking forward to the weather from tomorrow, another heatwave coming.
Yesterday I finished turning my raised planter into a miniature succulents garden. I’m very pleased with my efforts, so much so that I’m going to make a couple more using small, shallow terracotta planters that came from my parent's house.
While DH continued his exploits in the attic and bathroom, tiddler and I retreated to the Shed 😁; he says he’s finished so this morning will be spent cleaning up the aftermath.
One of my friends has been diagnosed with cancer, that means that in the houses on my side of our small estate there are 7 house in a row with present or former occupants who have had or are living with this awful disease. A horrible coincidence.

There’s fish and chips for dinner today! DH’s favourite.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend 🌹

Marzipan22 Sat 20-Jun-26 07:07:47

HelterSkelter I'll see if I can find a photo of the picture. I found my resident squirrel sitting on my bed one day. He panicked and ran round and round in circles even though the patio door was wide open. 😄

Greyduster Sat 20-Jun-26 07:09:27

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A cloudy cool start to the South Yorkshire day which will suit me if it lasts.

I started off to the gym yesterday before I went to my physio appointment. He has given me some exercises for my hands and will see me again in a month. It won’t make much of a difference I don’t think - anything at this stage is damage limitation. School in the afternoon and then I came home and did little except finish a book because it was so hot. I broke the habit of a lifetime and had proper fish and chips for my tea. They were a lovely treat!

Car washing and weeding today, and I may cut the front lawn.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Grammaretto Sat 20-Jun-26 07:14:54

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
A poor sleep and a busy day ahead.
The art group is to be painting in my garden this morning and a house viewing this afternoon.

My lodgers have a leak in their ceiling so I shall be looking for a plumber to come out.

My DS couldn't get home last night due to an emergency at Edinburgh airport. His flight from Ireland was diverted to Newcastle. I hope he's back now.

U3A boat trip on the Forth was really good. We had an excellent guide and saw the famous gannets of the Bass rock and lots of funny puffins.

Hoping everyone has a pleasant day.

monk08 Sat 20-Jun-26 07:19:34

Good morning all from a muggy Black country, we have had rain overnight so no need for early morning watering.
Car passed its MOT.
No plans as yet for today may go and look for some shoes for my nephews wedding.
grandMattie enjoy time with the family bet you can't wait to see your DS.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ☀️.

Melanie61 Sat 20-Jun-26 07:21:09

Good morning from Sheffield

The Choir of Man show last night was excellent , not at all what I expected. Had a thoroughly good time, The restaurant was so good. It didn’t realise before I went that it was totally gluten free so I could have whatever I wanted. A rare treat.

Today I am going to the garden centre with mentioned DS. He is rehashing his front garden and I am plant picking with him.

I think I will then have a relaxing afternoon and evening.
I am hoping to watch the Take That circus concert which is being live streamed on Amazon Prime. I saw it years ago and would like to watch it again . All those people crowded together is a bit too much for me now,so I will pass on actually being there.

Take care everyone flowers

kittylester Sat 20-Jun-26 07:36:25

Good morning all from a muggy, damp North Leicestershire.

My eye jab yesterday went well and the lovely lady who did the deed gave me lots of time to ask questions. I do find it difficult not to bend for 24 hours afterwards.

Today, we may walk along the tow path to one of the waterside pubs to see a group who play shanties on a moored boat. That will be weather dependent though. DS1 is planning on seeing them at a different pub and calling here afterwards and hus brother is planning on calling in too.

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Sat 20-Jun-26 07:41:23

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. Early shop and get ready for visitors tomorrow if it’s as hot as predicted that will probably be enough.
Best wishes

Redcar Sat 20-Jun-26 07:43:05

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny but with some cloud about. Pleasantly cool at the moment and a slightly less hot day today I think. DD2 is away for the weekend in a north Norfolk seaside town and she was still on the beach with the DGDs at 9.00 last night! She was disappointed to see that it won’t be as hot today and they may have showers!
I spent a lovely afternoon at the local RHS gardens with some friends. We had a short walk then sat in the shade for a while admiring the flowers.

Nothing much planned for today, some ironing to do, the bedding to be changed and some garden tidying to do. DD1 is busy so I doubt I’ll see her today and possibly not tomorrow either.

Good to read of happy family reunions today, have a lovely time with your Aussie relatives grannygravy and have a happy time with your Dd and DS grandmattie.

gagagran I hope you will soon be back to your normal self after last week’s fall.

Thinking of those who are poorly or suffering in any way.

Have as good a day as is possible everyone.

grandMattie Sat 20-Jun-26 07:50:32

Thank you all your kind wishes.
Pictures of my “garden”. The first sweet pea is showing colour.
