Morning, raining in S Hants. I’ve just tracked granddaughter’s plane going to Munich. Her first adventure with a friend for a few days.
It was windy here yesterday but dry, rain set for today, I’ll be on the voluntary phone.
Great news Karma
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from a still and bright Suffolk where rain is on the cards for later. Yesterday’s strong winds dried the washing well and the garden is now a carpet of leaves. We have always just left them where they fall and the grass doesn’t take any harm.

As part of my birthday presents in June, our AC gave me a voucher for a spa day at a beautiful Elizabethan hotel near Woodbridge. It includes an afternoon tea so DD1 has organised for the rest of the family to join my for tea, save for DGDs 1 & 2 who are away at universities.

I’ve told them I will wear a white rose,of which we still have a couple in the garden,in case I’m unrecognisable after my treatments!

Hope anyone in the eye of yesterday’s storm didn’t suffer any damage and all, especially those who are unwell, have a good day.

All those quiet marriages are so wonderful..
karma, I swear by a small fresh ginger poultice on rose thorn injuries. It’s wonderful at drawing thorns and splinters out…

Lovely news karmalady.

Hope the boys grandads surgery goes well Grandmabatty.I am sure you will enjoy looking after them another day even though it may be tiring. These days spent with them are precious.

Good morning all,

It’s a very grey, dismal one today and rain is forecast, but at least those awful gales have passed. I hope none of you encountered any damage.

I don’t think I’ll be doing much today as I can feel the beginnings of a sore throat coming on so will dose myself up and stay home. I should be going to the coffee morning group, but I don’t think it’s fair to risk spreading any germs, plus I feel tired after a poor nights sleep - the clock changes always seem to affect me.

Wishing you all a good day and I hope those of you struggling with your health see improvement very soon.

Good morning from a far calmer Wiltshire. The worst of the weekend’s wind seemed to be yesterday.

DD2 is off work this week so we haven’t got the GCs. We will catch up at some point. Bed change today. I’ve recently discovered Bedeck bedding which I’m very impressed with. 100% percale cotton - even DH noticed the quality which is most unlike him. I’ve used Dorma for a very long time but the quality has dropped and the price has rocketed. I do miss the zip along the bottom on them though.

Congratulations to your DS and his wife on their marriage Karma. That’s lovely. My sister and her partner got married in 2023 after a long time together. She was 63! They did have a big party the following year which was fun.

Have a good Monday everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 26-Oct-26 08:19:51

Dgs2 and I are watching Tom and Jerry and he's cackling like an old hen. Dgs1 is playing football upstairs. I love spending this time with the boys. Dgs2 likes me to watch what he is doing and dgs1 is just so affectionate and cuddly. Right! Clothes on for them and teeth brushed then school

Marydoll Mon 26-Oct-26 08:21:51

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 8°C.

Congratulations to your DD and SIL Karma,

Enjoy Split, BlueSapphire.

Another day in bed awaits. A few scary angina attacks left me feeling quite unwell yesterday. The vertigo especially is getting me down. 🥴
I am praying today will be better.

I had to laugh at DD. You won't be going to Silverburn, then?
I thought she was being solicitous. She wasn't. The road is flooded, it's impassible., she said. They will be wondering why their profits are down. 😉
She sent me a photo of the devastation at our favourite part of the promenade in Prestwick.
A whole section is gone.😪
I usually sit on a bench there, to get my breath back.

I have been overwhelmed by the get well messages, I have received from my fellow parishioners, when they realised I had gone AWOL. ♥️

The biggest test today, will be when the money counters find out how much preparation I do, to make their lives easier. 😉
I usually have everything ready for them, in separate labelled bags and buckets.
They are in for a shock!

For the public record: Mr MD has been an absolute star. ♥️
He isn't too well, still covered in hives, but looking after me so well.

My best wishes to all, especially my fellow mountaineers.

Gagagran Mon 26-Oct-26 08:22:37

Good Morning everyone from a dull, damp but calmer central south coast. Hope Ash and Oldd arrived safely in Portsmouth , 8 miles away from us, last night. Suspect it was a choppy crossing in the strong winds.

Enjoyed lovely phone calls from DD and DS yesterday and DD had managed to find a dress she likes for their civil partnership ceremony on 21 December. They haven't kept it secret like Karma's DD but we shall not be present. Only their own two adult DD and DS will be there. They too have had 29 years together and are legalising it on the advice of their solicitor.

Redcar I was interested to read that your DD didn't get on with the combined asthma inhaler. The one I was persuaded to try was "Symbicort" and it didn't suit me at all. I was very glad to return to my two separate ones which have controlled my asthma for many years. I am still minded to think that there is some financial inducement to persuade patients to change to the combined one. Why else would you want to change an established regime which works well?

The clock changing twice a year always irritates me, and when I think of the costs involved, nationwide, it seems ridiculous to have to do it. It was introduced in wartime and over 80 years on surely should be reconsidered? It upsets personal circadian rhythms and disrupts many systems. Including electric ovens it seems! grin

Anyway, that's my little rant over and I shall now have a nice coffee, my only one of the day.

Have the best day you can everyone and hope those with health problems or worries find some relief and comfort.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 26-Oct-26 08:24:02

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s mild but wet, forecast pretty much all day, but temperatures reaching 16°C! Must be the grey clouds keeping us warmer. I’ve a cardigan on to enjoy my TiB but still only need the summer duvet. I did put a throw on the bed last night ‘just in case’ but slept soundly without the need for it.

This little apartment is very well insulated - in fact my direct debit for electricity next year (no gas in the development) has been reduced by £20 a month. Maybe because I’ve been to Málaga this year too?

I’ve rung a taxi and will pick my stepfather up this morning for the first of 3 hospital out patient appointments in 2 weeks. Today’s is to ascertain whether the AMD in his left eye is wet or dry.

TheWeirdoAgain60 Mon 26-Oct-26 08:29:19

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

This is just a quickie, as a few days ago we had a group of customers who pre-booked with us to come in early this morning.

This morning, at about 1, I was sitting on the edge of the bed, guzzling cold water, and there was that weird ''primitive hole-in-a-hole noise from the previous night, so I opened the front door with the storm still raging and stood on the steps. It sounded like the huge wind was whizzing through a metal pipe, making those noises. Maybe vents in our flats.

See you later, and I hope you all have a brilliant day, whatever you're doing!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 26-Oct-26 08:45:59

Lucky you at an event by Ken Bruce BlueSapphire! The cruise would’ve tempted me with that on the itinerary alone! He has a lovely voice and comes over so well, warm and engaging.

His older brother and his wife were one of my stepfather's neighbours when my stepfather had his house up in Wester Ross back in the day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 26-Oct-26 08:55:13

Morning all from a wet and mild West Oxfordshire.

We took our daughter out for lunch yesterday. It was delicious. There was so much food that she took quite a large doggy bag back to London!

OH will ring the Vet this morning and cancel the scan we have booked for Milo the cat. We don’t think it’s fair for him to go through another anxious time especially as it involves shaving more of his fur off. We will speak to them about what to do next.

Our cleaner should be here this morning, and I’ll do a Waitrose shop. I need to click and collect more eyebrow pencils. Since I have been on gout medication permanently plus 5 years of anastrozole for breast cancer, my eyebrows are practically bald! I have thought about tattooing but that is very expensive,

After lunch I’ll listen to two lectures on the Georgians from the V&A. This is an excellent online course which I’ve really enjoyed.

Have a good day everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 26-Oct-26 09:09:41

I’m in the Loungers bar below just decided spur of the moment to get a wriggle on and come down for a flat white and bacon on toast while I wait for my taxi as it’ll pull up just outside! Why not? 🤣

aggie Mon 26-Oct-26 09:09:58

Good Morning from a gloomy, wet Durham. At least the wind has dropped, but my drive is now ankle deep in leaves and sycamore seeds, which I’ll have to clear later. The leaves are from my neighbour’s cherry tree and the seeds from a sycamore several gardens away - they fill my gutters, take root and grow. I’m going to investigate gutter clearing next Spring.
My friend and I have postponed our usual morning coffee until after lunch today, hoping that a scatterbrained friend will join us, but we aren’t too confident.

Thinking of LLFL today - I’m many of those ‘been there’ shirts.
Pleased to hear MD is obeying orders, but hoping that defiant spirit isn’t lost.

Best wishes to all. X

hollysteers Mon 26-Oct-26 09:13:47

Good morning Mick and all from a wet but calmer northwest coast . The last couple of days have been shocking here weather wise.

I’m hoping to throw off my Covid side effects today and go to a sing a round, but don’t feel too enthusiastic at the moment.

Flying DD is flying today so I’m glad the weather has calmed down although she says it’s ok in the south.

LLFL I’m having my almost non existent eyebrows tattooed next month in London at a place my DD goes to (been through the same treatment as you plus plucking). Looking forward to it. One has to be very careful to choose the right practitioner…)

Congratulations Karma and thoughts to all🌺

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 26-Oct-26 09:14:57

I’m quite impressed to see the town centre clock’s 3 faces have already been updated to the hour back - must be automatic now it didn’t used to be it’s an old landmark clock.

Right I’ll shut up now.

Grandmabatty Mon 26-Oct-26 09:23:13

I had my eyebrows microbladed 8 years ago. It was similar to tattooing but faded over the years. I was very happy with them.

GrannySomerset Mon 26-Oct-26 09:26:35

Less wild but definitely wet here in the Chew Valley with a carpet of golden beech leaves covering the lawn. Definitely autumn now with the hot bright summer a memory.

Quiet week ahead which means I ought to get down to some overdue sorting out but the less I do the less I want to do and I am in awe of how much posters accomplish in a day. I fear that procrastination has become my default setting!

Grannyme6 Mon 26-Oct-26 09:27:36

Good morning to all and special thoughts to the poorlies.
I have an empty for a few days so today am taking myself down to Bluewater Shopping centre in Kent. Will be keeping an eye out for presents for the youngsters on my way round.
Talking of C ……. - for the cake I have the dried fruit steeped in port and will bake later in the week.

luluaugust Mon 26-Oct-26 09:33:54

Good morning from a wet Kent. The cleaner will be here soon and then an eye check this afternoon, new glasses I suspect

Good morning all - it must be a weekend for weddings especially of the quiet sort.
My nephew, married his lovely Japanese bride last week. Only his mother and the bride’s family attended but we look forward to welcoming a new Japanese member of the family.

EkwaNimitee Mon 26-Oct-26 11:12:42

Lovely photo MawsRosie. Beautiful outfits. Hope they’ll be very happy.
