Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark and its wet outside here in Brackley today.
My plans to get an early bus to Bicester go for a coffee and a snack , maybe have an early beer , do a shop, and hopefully chat to people I know.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from La Sarthe where it has rained for most of the night. The garden will be grateful but one soggy moggy tapping at our window before 5.00am was not impressed. Nor were we!

I was interested to read of the various experiences folk had had of eating rabbit. It would appear that a (rather expensive) butcher near my flat in Torquay sells rabbit and venison so DH will investigate further when we go back next week.

No plans for today but no doubt some household chores will be tackled.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark, and raining, but it feels milder. I was awake at some ridiculous hour with no hope of getting back to sleep so I will pay for it later in the day.

I called over to see GS yesterday before he went back to uni after spending the weekend at home. I made him some peanut butter cookies to eat on the train! He was delighted. On the way home I called in at one of two garden centres en route. They changed hands in the summer and it now seems to be less about plants and more about food (the cafe was rammed, the nursery almost empty), garden furniture, sundries and, at present, all things Christmas🙄! Hey ho. After that I spent a fruitless couple of hours trying to find a car insurance quote that didn’t require me to sell a kidney. First world problems.

School this afternoon. May have to take the car today.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning from Bristol. It’s supposed to be raining now and all day. I haven’t looked out, but hope it’s not too heavy and doesn’t soak me on my way to my Spanish class.

I’m absolutely done in after yesterday’s shenanigans. I spent the first bit of the morning doing a final tidy up (I’m not messy, but…), doing the floors and so on.

Then the Tesco shop took over 2 hours, with the fetching and returning of my neighbour’s friend, etc., unpacking, very quick lunch during which I dropped a large blob of tomato soup on the front of mt clean top. 🤬

Rushed off to my notWI meeting to set up, then greet the members. Very well attended - we had line dancing! Cue a lot of tangled legs and constant laughter… I left early, to finish preparing dinner.

I had barely an hour, when the first guest (of honour) arrived! One of our little group had sent me a text earlier to say he couldn’t come as one of his children was in hospital, poor chap. I must find out today how the boy is doing..

The other two came individually, but at the same time. We had a lovely time as we know each other quite well from FAB and get on really well. My food went down ok, so all were happy!

Exhausted, I filled the dishwasher when they left and did the minimum tidying up; furniture needed rearranging as the room is so small, the sofa needs pushing away to get 4 people round my dining table…. (Easy job with wood flooring)

I’ve got an early start for Spanish, but at least I can just sit for the rest of the day!

Have a good day all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning from a very dark Herefordshire. It is raining.

I slept much better last night now that I have a 13 tog duvet on the bed.

Yesterday I made ten jars of chutney to see me through the winter. The kitchen smells of onions now.

I am going to the library today, might spend an hour in the cafe afterwards, reading and watching the world go by. I find that quite meditative. Then back home to video call DD and DGS2 late afternoon.

Happy Tuesday all.

Good morning from a campsite in Southport. It’s raining and an annoying drip drip woke me up a while ago and I can’t get back to sleep.
It doesn’t seem to be bothering DH or CDog who are both fast asleep.
As it’s raining heavily we will probably pack up and head home. We had really good weather yesterday so we’re able to take GD to the park. She had it to herself much to her surprise as last time she visited you couldn’t get on anything it was so busy.
We took advantage of an offer of a free night here but when we arrived on Sunday the computer said we had already used the voucher back in April. I was quietly insistent we hadn’t and showed her the e mail which confirmed this was voucher 2 to be used after October. She did seem to understand but we still had to pay for 2 nights and speak to head office for a refund when they opened. Thankfully this was painless as the person I spoke to said “Oh we’ve had a few of these” and sent over a refund voucher without arguing. The campsite then honoured this and gave us a refund. First world problems!
Take care🌸

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

DH drive DScand the children home yesterday afternoon and I spent them at time restoring order, putting away craft supplies, books, and toys.

The garage is an obstacle course at the moment. I have sleeping bags from the overnight camping trip hanging up to air as well as the little two man tent.

Today will be quiet and peaceful I hope, I have no real plans other getting my eyebrows done and yarn group this evening. Food stocks will need replenished I suppose.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Grandmabatty Tue 20-Oct-26 06:22:13

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and damp. Camping under canvas is not for me! I did it when I was in the Guides and didnt enjoy the experience.
Yesterday was very quiet. I felt very tired so took the opportunity to rest. Later on, I missed a phone call from the doctor's surgery so I will need to phone them back this morning.
Today is childcare day. It's still half term so I will have them both all day. I will probably take them to soft play as the forecast isnt promising. Have a good day all.

madeleine45 Tue 20-Oct-26 06:33:10

Good morning Michael and all GN's on a very dark morning, but doesnt feel quite so cold at the moment, in North Yorkshire. A change today, am already up and dressed and been sorting out my bag etc., as I decided yesterday that with the forecast for today, and my back limiting everything I want to do, that I would go to York designer outlet. So rang to organise a buggy, as no chance to walk round anywhere, and will get off as soon as I am ready, which wont be in the next hour!

Yesterday it was a case of 6 and two 3's. Everything was a physical struggle and I was just feeling fed up with the effort the least little thing was taking me. I eventually got off on the yellow peril, with first stop to the pharmacy for my prescription. It is always a feeling of tension, because the actual pharmacy are very good and always very busy, but this juggling of having to be like goldilocks , so dont put the repeat prescription in too early, or too late, and will the one you must have be available! I used to be able to recognise the tablets I took and easily check if I had remembered to take a specific one at a glance. Now they are having problems sourcing some, I can have different coloured or different shaped ones to the normal ones so have to be more careful checking. Anyway after a bit of a wait, I collected them, and I always now open the bag and check that I have everything, rather than getting home and having to ring up for something missing. Anyway that was one good job done, and I then carried on shopping with mixed success, ending in Nero's for a much needed coffee. They had not had a good start to their day, as their milk had not been delivered and the manager had had to send someone out to buy some, and one member of staff was stuck on a train on their way. I thought I must check if it friday the 13th!!

Anyway I called in at the library on my way back to check whether we had to book onto these various online things this week , but it was just turn up. So we have the police, the trading standards, and the NHS app people on different days, so I hope to call in to most of them, to check that I am up to date as far as possible in safety back ups and learn of the latest scammers etc to watch out for. I hope that they tell me that I am doing all the right things, but if I have fallen behind that they will point out anything I need to do. I saw one of the senior people whilest I was there and was able to collar her and ask how long it was going to be before the actually did something about the wretched entrance, in particular this annoying metal bar that sticks out and causes a lot of problems. She said that they were discussing it and getting it all organised, to which I replied , well as an interim could they not get a farrier or metal working person to just cut this wretched thing off , which would make a great deal of difference immediately, but of course mutterings of health and safety etc etc., so whilst they talk about it we still struggle to get inside!!

Got home feeling very tired and so it was just a matter of putting shopping away, doing various e mails and organising with my son about our meet up at the weekend. The weather doesnt look as though it is going to be kind to us, but we shall enjoy meeting up anyway. I need to check around for various bits and pieces I have got for my grandson and make sure that I dont forget them, and part of today is I may find a good model airplane for him. Not a toy but something to scale kind of thing, worth a look anyway. I didnt do a great deal more in the evening, I enjoy the quiz night on mondays and attempt to answer questions on mastermind - often the individual round is about something out of my range but always have a go at the general knowledge. Enjoy the Only Connect, with its variety of rounds, but despite being a singer and immersed in music for most of my life, useless at the music questions as they are usually more pop and I dont know many of them, but enjoy things like the missing vowel round. Gets the brain working and I can ignore how my back feels. So that was the not very exciting day, and now I am going to have a bit of a different day. If I am lucky I might find a pair of trousers at the M and S outlet, and possibly see some underwear and boring things like socks. I am taking a sandwich with me as I neither want to pay their prices, nor do I like sitting in inside cafes in shopping malls , no pleasure to me at all, so it will be make the most of the poor weather being inside and then escape into the countryside , feeling I have seen enough of towns and cities, unless it is still raining a lot in which case I might go to a p and r and go into York city and go to the art gallery. Will see what the days brings.

I hope you have a successful trip Mick and get to see a few friends. Ashcombe, all the talk of rabbits has made me fancy trying to get some. It was something we had quite often when I was a child and enjoyed it. well it is definitely casserole weather at the moment. Thoughts turn to jacket potatoes and baked apples , so warming on a cold day. Greyduster, I find exactly the same at a lot of garden centres and of course my bete noire, when I go to see Harlow Carr and have great difficulty finding a disabled car parking space, and expect to see the gardens full of people and no they are all sat in Bettys having coffee! I dont really know how they could police it but I want to suggest to harlow carr that they have a couple of bays only for people going into the garden not the cafe! I know money is tight for business as well as individuals but I hate seeing everywhere covered in christmas stuff when we havent even had bonfire night yet. Who knows perhaps there will be easter eggs and easter bunnies after bonfire night!

Well I had better get myself sorted and check things in the car, as this is the weather when you need macs and jackets and sunglasses all in one day, I hope everyone has a successful day today and that perhaps after a bit of a heavy downpour to fill the water butts that it might clear up this afternoon. Take care and I shall return - no doubt exhausted - to read of your doings later

latedecember1963 Tue 20-Oct-26 06:38:50

Good morning everyone from a still dark Lancashire.
Thank you for the compliments about the knitted dress yesterday. I've gone back to the hoodie I started for the little chap a while ago.

DH has gone into the office. We'll go to my Slimming World group this morning and then call in a the garden centre on the way home. I need a birthday present for a friend and some plants to freshen by our front door now the geraniums have stopped flowering.
It's a shame when garden centres become less about the plants but it's probably the way they survive as a business. Our local GC has cleared a lot of space to install wooden huts with seating for Hallow'een and Christmas events. I looked into the Father Christmas teatime event but it's so expensive.

Well done on getting your refund, Gelissa. Fingers crossed the weather brightens up for you.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning from s somerset, I hope it rains all day and all week, the water situation is pretty desperate in somerset. Anyway we had all of 2mm since midnight, it is a start

Craft group was just lovely, non-stop chat and a bit of sewing. I will be carrying on with the sewing today, I am making real headway in clearing up and preparing bags of projects for winter and putting fabric away

I turned all the thermostats on this morning, there is a real chill in the air now and the house is cooling, so it is time

RosesandLilac Tue 20-Oct-26 06:52:58

Good morning, 4° and a murky start with rain falling here on the hillside in south Glos, hopefully a decent amount will fall and begin to change the drought situation.
I had coffee at my friend’s yesterday, caught up with all her news then spent the morning doing the usual chores and getting dinner.
I did spend some time sharpening my coloured pencils to long points so I can continue with a drawing today.
I do need to post a little something for DGC1 who’s unwell with shingles; I hope it gives him a bit of a lift. I’ll include a treat for DGS2 too so I will go to the post office in the village.
I cleaned the fridge yesterday, it’s tidy and ready for the Ocado delivery first thing. I’ll have enough food to last the next two weeks.
Nothing else is happening here, I hope today goes well for you all x

Good morning it is 13° here and I can see by my trees that there is no wind. I am not a fan of these dark mornings and shorter days.

I will go to Pilates this morning, then a quick pop into small local,Sainsbury’s for a couple of bits.

Thinking of our poorly friends (((hugs))) 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from a grey and mild mid Essex. A cloudy day yesterday, but dry all day. Showers are forecast fo4 today.
I had a good stretch at yoga yesterday and felt better for a while. I sat with my dementia friend in the afternoon while her DH had a hospital appointment and sitting all afternoon made my back stiff.
Not sure what I’ll do today, DD2 will ring this morning with an update on her asthma/ chest infection problems. She has decided against going into the office today and either her mil or DD1 will do the school and nursery run for her.

madeleine enjoy your day at the shopping outlet, hoping you find some suitable clothes to buy.

* grandmattie* I hope today will be a little less busy for you so you can catch up on your rest. I’m pleased your dinner party went well.

I hope life gets a bit easier for those who are struggling and that anyone travelling has an easy journey.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all from North Leicestershire. It has been raining but I think it has now stopped.

Getting going early as we are taking Wolfie birthday shopping. He is now 8, really into football and talks nonstop. I expect we will go to Smyths and boost their profits. And maybe help McDonald's for lunch. Hoping DH can manage - his pain is getting worse and his next blood test is not for a week.

Have the best day possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Tue 20-Oct-26 07:40:15

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still dark but dry Carlisle. Apparently, it will not remain that way but, as usual, I'll believe it when I see it.
Yesterday I went into town to collect a package from M&S then had my passport photos taken in the nearby photographic emporium. I thought that might achieve a better result than fiddling in one of the booths in TG Jones. Wrong! However lovely I think I look in my mirror, the passport photo makes me look like a ghastly old hag. I have a suspicion that dressing table mirrors are deliberately made to boost your mood first thing but the reality is different. I shall continue with the passport application later and try not to look at the photo!

Today, laundry and vacuuming, maybe more but I have a lot of admin to do which is more important. And the pest controller is due to land at some point to investigate the rat problem...bet it will be pouring when we have to be outside.
If I have time, I'll try and finish my interesting book. I think I'll keep this one but need to continue my cull also.

Do have a good day every one!

Just a quick morning all from West Oxfordshire.

We are taking Milo to the Vet at 9 am. He had been losing large clumps of fur from his neck. He is 16 and doesn’t seem happy.

Have a good day.

Today will be a quiet day I hope.Laundry and usual house jobs this morning then hopefully a quiet afternoon reading 🤞🏻

Marydoll Tue 20-Oct-26 08:05:32

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 9°C and raining,
Yesterday's remperature of -2C, affected my chest badly,

I have had a dreadful night's sleep, due to my stalker sending private WhatsApp messages, after she disagreed with a suggestion, I made on the Fundraising chat.
This went on all evening, she is like a dog with a bone.
Eventually, I suggested, that, in the interest of transparency and to allow others to comment, she should be messaging on the group chat, not to me personally, so that everyone can see what she is writing.
She still didn't stop,🤬
My heart was racing and I couldn't sleep, I was so annoyed. I am seriously thinking of stepping back from the fundraising group.

Today, DH and I have our eye tests, They have been postponed twice, due to our ill health and are long overdue.
We will take the bus, because we won't be able to drive.
Usually, we would go for lunch, but DH still is feeling unwell after his vaccinations and his rash is still troublesome.
I really don't want to go out at all!

I wish you all a pleasant day and best wishes to all, who are struggling.

Susan56 Tue 20-Oct-26 08:06:51

I hope your DD is doing better today Redcar. My daughter had her inhaler changed too and was quite unwell. She has now had it changed again and this new one finally seems to be helping. She had antibiotics and steroids too.She is 40 but I still have sleepless nights worrying about her asthma.

Roses I hope your DGS is soon feeling better.

harrigran 💐

Susan56 Tue 20-Oct-26 08:08:54

Marydoll could you block her from sending you personal messages? It seems harsh but her behaviour is making you unwell.x
