Good morning from a dark and chilly corner of La Sarthe. Yesterday we actually sat outside in the afternoon in the warm sunshine.

I forgot to mention that on Saturday we enjoyed a rabbit stew which DH had made. Rabbit is readily available in the local supermarket and makes a cheap and tasty meal.

Sending get well wishes to those in need and bon voyage to our travellers, including BlueSapphire on the high seas! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from a damp Bristol. It has rained most of the night but appears to have stopped. We really need this as we haven’t had much of the rain other parts of the West Country have received,
Yesterday was full on. The baptism was of a delicious little 5-6 month old boy, Noa, who spent his time waving and grinning toothless lay at everyone. He enjoyed all the indignities too!
Once home, I boiled the fruit for cake, had lunch, then started the serious baking/cooking. I made some flapjacks, some ginger cake, used up an aubergine, and made the chicken stew for tonight. I’m hosting a farewell dinner for my 4 FAB cafe friends, one of whom is moving to the outer suburbs at the weekend. No car and bus routes are complicated, so she’s not coming back.
Today, I’m off to my local Tesco (no F&F ☹️), line dancing at the not WI, the rushing home to host the very early dinner…
The rest of the week is full but not quite as busy; I no longer can have so much on.
Ash, DH loved rabbit, but it’s very hard to find here and mostly imported from China. Happy cruising, Blue. Hope MD and family are on the upward trend, ditto got the others in the same situation.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a cold dark North Yorkshire. Another struggling morning, with my back very painful, so not making any plans for the day. Will have to sees if things improve at all.

Yesterday was a very domestic day, where I did manage to do quite a bit of clearing out and sorting, but unfortunately still no sign of my watch and various other things I had hoped to retrieve. I was feeling tired all day and did drop off to sleep for a couple of naps , which helped me at the time to feel a bit more alive and get things done, but definitely didnt help last night, as between my leg hurting and my back refusing to settle down or find a comfortable place, it was a rubbish night, helped a little bit by occasionally listening to radio 3 unwind. So glad to be up actually.

Everything seemed to take forever yesterday, but at least I did finally make up my venison stew, which was so good that when I had it for my sunday dinner with a glass of red wine, my original intention of leaving some or freezing some to go with a jacket potato another day was ignored and I ate it all. It really was very good, and a very warming and comfortable meal and I shall keep an eye out for more in a reduced price zone. (Why is it that I really enjoy expensive things?)

Anyway I felt that that was a reward for my halo earning efforts. The DID and private passions were good accompaniments to my efforts. If my back improves I will carry on a bit more today. It looked lovely and bright outside, but whilst I was in the mood to do the sorting I carried on. Later I watched Antique Roadshow and the last part of the Time and went to bed feeling I had at least made some inroads into jobs.

Today at some point I need to go and get milk and a few bits, but just the odd thin and hope that the shower can work its magic on my back. Suddenly sneezed just now and ouch! ouch! So it will be yellow peril to the rescue.

Hope your delivery comes early Mick and you can get out and about .Ashcombe , my granny was a great shot, and I used to love rabbit stew , which was cooked on the old range kind of cooker and with jacket potatoes would sit simmering there ready to eat when we came in from a chilly job feeding stock or whatever. I remember the awful miximatosis, where the poor things would be just sat there staring. It was a horrible disease and I think that even when that had gone, it left people not wanting or trusting rabbit to be safe. Occasionally we used to have hare too, but cooked simply in a casserole not done as jugged hare.I hope the weather stays good for you and you enjoy your break.

Time to creak off and see if I can manage a shower yet, and then can come back and read more posts from everyone. Think it is definitely time to search out the gloves and hats and put away that last thin pair of trousers Wishing everyone a good start to their week with success in jobs and a chance to meet up with friends or family

Good morning everyone from somewhere off the NW coast of Spain, calm seas and a fine day expected; Bay of Biscay was like a millpond!

We are now on European time and an hour ahead so it's 7.15am here. Just had TIB, and contemplating getting up for an early breakfast.
Went to the show in the theatre last night - a ventriloquist/comedian who was excellent.
Will just take today as it comes, will probably do a walk around the deck, then some reading, and then I see there is a ballet class this afternoon so will give that a go.
Formal night tonight so on with the posh frock - have just remembered that formal night means a champagne breakfast!

Wishing all a pleasant Monday.

Good morning from Herefordshire. Light rain, but forecast to be a mild day.

Yesterday's drive from Wales was straightforward thank goodness. Having stayed with my relative all last week I shall miss her company. I had considered moving to Wales before. It's a little bit too remote for me where she is though. I prefer to be close to amenities and could not tolerate needing to drive everywhere. I like having the option of walking to places.

I semi woke up several times in the night feeling chilly. Time to get the winter duvet on.

Monday Pilates as usual then a trip to the supermarket. I also need to go to the library to return a book and borrow a new one but I think I might leave that until tomorrow.

Happy Monday to all.

Good morning from a chilly Glasgow, where it is -1 degrees.

Yesterday morning, DH scraped my car for me, but I had to re-do it. Then my boot jammed, then boot wouldn't open. I yanked it and the parcel shelf cord broke.

Drama at Mass, we had to call an ambulance. The poor lady, collapsed and took half a dozen chairs with her,
I shall find out today how she is.
Thankfully, my strict parking enforcement worked.
The ambulance arrived in fifteen minutes and there were no selfish parkers blocking access.
The usual very late, selfish Parker arrived just before the ambulance, was about to block the front door, spotted me and abandoned her car elsewhere.

I had another cardiac dizzy spell yesterday afternoon, it always happens, when I have been busy, then resting. It may be my BP dropping. We were in bed at 8pm last night, unknown for us.

We have Dollie, so I need to get the pancakes made. The leftovers will come down to church with me.
I have so much to do this morning.
DH wants to come to Mass. He is still covered head to foot in hives. It's not contagious, but he will sit in a corner anyway.
He is too afraid to go at the weekend, in case he takes ill.
All masses are extremely busy and rather claustrophobic and I too find it overwhelming.

I wish you all a pleasant day.

Best wishes to all, who have mountains to climb.

Good morning from Shropshire.A much colder start today.

A nice day with the children yesterday then to DD’s for a delicious roast dinner.

Today we are up much earlier than normal as the car is going for its service first thing. We will have breakfast in town.No plans later although I am sure a nap will feature after the very early start.

Wishing everyone a good day.🦩🌻

Good morning, it’s been raining here in south Glos but I’m not convinced that it’s amounted to much. We still have the hosepipe ban and it’s going to take biblical amounts of rain to rectify the shortage.
I had a lovely walk with bigger dog yesterday, wandering around and enjoying the sunshine. I picked up a handful of beautiful autumnal leaves and more lichen covered twigs. Sadly there were two dead dear in the lane; I managed to drag them onto the grass verge. One was a muntjac, the other a young roe deer. So sad to see.
We have a lot of both species around here, we frequently hear muntjac with their barking call.
The trees in the woods behind us are changing colour, leaves are falling quickly when it’s breezy and I noticed yesterday that several of the fir trees seem to have died from the drought.
The Bryony berries in the hedgerows are a bright scarlet, very striking in the sun. Ivy berries are still green and the hawthorn berries look quite wizen on many bushes.
The window cleaner will be here shortly, I think DH has taken tiddler out so I need to get up and pay him.
The fridge needs cleaning so that’s a job for this morning, what an exciting life I live!
Best wishes to everyone x
🌹

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
Champagne breakfast sounds fun, BlueSaphire. Enjoy your posh frock evening.
Yesterday's outing to a local playcentre to meet up with the little chap's parents went well. It's only small, but the different areas were very well resourced. He especially loved the kitchen/cafe role play area and the messy play area.
There were only 2 other children there and they take a maximum of 12 children per session so that it doesn't become too crowded and 15 if it's a private party.
We'll definitely go again, not just for contact sessions.

Yesterday I finished a knitted pinafore dress for a friend's impending grandaughter. I used to teach her son when he was in Y1 and he's about to become a daddy.

Today DH is in the office. I'm going to change bed linen and do the washing. This afternoon a friend is popping round for a brew and a chat.

Hope everyone has the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning from Sheffield
A quiet day yesterday. We had the gorgeous cockapoo for the day and he slept over last night. We walked to the local garden centre where we purchased some gravel for the hole in the garden which is from the plumbing to the new toilet. We stopped for a drink and I had some very tasty ice cream, I just fancied some.
Then home to a few household jobs and pie and peas for tea. I had some pasty left over so made a jam tart as well. I also made my Christmas cake. It looks good. I shall feed it with brandy until Christmas.
Just working today. Hubby is getting a bit fed up now, he’s not used to sitting about.
Take care everyone flowers

Good morning from a chilly (8°) corner of Essex.

Gym this morning, then I have some pottering this afternoon.

(((Hugs))) to all our poorly friends

Redcar Mon 19-Oct-26 07:23:39

Good morning everyone from a mild and wet mid Essex.
There was a beautiful rainbow yesterday morning, although it was only raining lightly here. We had some showers later in the day and obviously more over night. It’s very dark out still.

A lovely family lunch at DD1’s yesterday, before DD2 took littlest to a birthday party and my son in law brought me home.

Yoga this morning, then I’m looking after my dementia friend while her DH has a lengthy hospital appointment.

madeleine when I was a small child we kept rabbits for food not as pets. My granny or my dad killed them, they were delicious and no danger of breaking teeth on lead shot!

marydoll I hope the lady who collapsed is better today. Satisfying that your parking policy was successful!

grandmattie another busy day for you, I hope your dinner party goes well.

latedecember that is such a pretty dress and the pattern looks very complicated! You are so talented.

bluesapphire I hope the sea stays calm for you and you have a lovely cruise.

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Mon 19-Oct-26 07:25:07

Good morning from a grey Kent. After the cleaner has been we have our jabs this afternoon. Settling back in with a pile of ironing

kittylester Mon 19-Oct-26 07:31:56

Good morning all from a very chilly North Leicestershire. We had rain over night.

As DH has too much pain to be able to go to the gym, we are going to the dump, if it's open, and then to the bank. This afternoon we aim to watch the last two episodes of Time.

Have the best day possibke everyone.

glammagran Mon 19-Oct-26 07:42:24

Good morning from Wiltshire.

We had DGD3 and DGS2 overnight on Saturday. Numerous meltdowns from GS, the worst when we said he couldn’t watch his Amazon fire tablet at the table at dinner time. On the plus side they both ate all their homemade pizza without any fuss. He enjoyed going to the park with DH to play football though. I stayed indoors with GD who is so different away from her brother and great company. He enjoyed going to the park with DH to play football though. I stayed indoors with GD who is so different away from her brother and was great company. GS has a very powerful personality and he is leading GD now even though she’s older by far. They were incredibly hyper at bedtime unusually. Went to bed exhausted after watching Slow Horses on tv and only managed 3 hours sleep all night.

Last night I slept quite well. School pickup later.

Have a good day everyone.

latedecember1963 Mon 19-Oct-26 07:43:03

Redcar, confession time; the wool is Cherish and it's self patterning as you knit to come out looking like fair isle but thank you for the lovely comment.
The shade I used is called Humbug.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 19-Oct-26 07:44:37

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and a balmy 11°C already. No sun though and rain is forecast and 15°C.

I’ve no plans today so will just potter about doing things that please me at my own pace. I will go in to see my neighbour at 6pm (our 6 o’clock club) which is lovely for us both to have a good hour of companionship.

Little effort needed for my tea afterwards as it’s going to be pizza.

Greyduster Mon 19-Oct-26 07:44:42

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. It is in for the day - maybe for the week. I am late this morning, having slept in.

Yesterday I started feeding the birds again, so refilled the bird feeders, did laundry, changed my bed linen, scrubbed my bathroom within an inch of its life and made myself a tasty salmon and vegetable stir fry for supper. The renewal quote for my car insurance was emailed to me yesterday - ridiculous does not adequately cover it!

Today I’m going to walk down to the pharmacy to get a covid jab. It is a walk in service. I have to go out for a while this afternoon, but apart from that nothing on the agenda.

Ash my mother used to make a lovely rabbit stew - it was the one dish she cooked that I always looked forward to, served with Yorkshire pudding seasoned with onion and sage she had dried in the pantry! Wild rabbit from the fish mongers in those days. I still love rabbit, but it’s not the same.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Oct-26 07:46:46

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and cloudy. Marydoll I hope the lady is ok. GrandMattie mum couldn't eat rabbit. The family ate it a lot during the war and she hated it.
Yesterday was quiet. I popped into aldi for food and made a tray of egg muffins when I got home which will do me for breakfasts most of the week. Apart from that, I did very little. The chicken and mushroom curry was delicious and I have enough for tonight too.
A long lie for me this morning. Dd is on holiday so I have a day off. I have no plans. I might go to the retail park for art supplies. Have a good day all

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Oct-26 07:49:21

Sorry, that should be Ashcombe for the rabbit mention!

Gagagran Mon 19-Oct-26 07:59:46

Good Morning everyone from a clear but damp central south coast. We must have had rain in the night but it is dry just now.

I have to have a blood test before I can get my repeat thyroxine scrip and have just managed to get an appointment for 9am, surprisingly. Usually there are no slots for some time. So DH will drop me off as parking is difficult and pick me up afterwards.

Otherwise the beds have been changed and the laundry is in the washer and that is all there is, so far, on today's agenda.

I hope all the doings scheduled for today go as well as possible and that anyone unwell feels better today. Take care everyone.

EkwaNimitee Mon 19-Oct-26 08:02:42

Good morning Mick and everyone from a Carlisle of heavy cloud...it will rain no doubt. We don't need it.
Yesterday was a quiet day of pottering, my only visit to the garden was to walk around in the pleasant warm sun. We'd had frost first thing too.
I wasn't idle, I made bread and a fruit cake, my excuse being I needed to use up some old dried fruit. It's now sliced up and will go in the garage freezer, minus the 2 slices I've managed to scoff first...it was Sunday after all!

Today it's into town yet again, I have to pick up a delivery from M&S which should have been available when I went in on Saturday but wasn't. I'll take the opportunity to have some passport photos done, a process I hate. Unfortunately my nice red passport will expire soon and the tour company demands 6 months left on it.

I wish I could get rabbit like I could from Spanish supermarkets, it's a healthy low saturated fat meat, I wouldn't buy Chinese though, I shudder to think of the rearing conditions. A few years ago, we stayed on a Shetland croft and the crofter bought rabbits from the local lads who shot them at a £1 each. They were a pest there. She made us a wonderful rabbit stew I remember to this day.
The rest of my day will be laundry and bed changing plus getting on with my book.

Have a good day all!

brook2704 Mon 19-Oct-26 08:03:17

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s been a cold clear night and a dry sunny day is forecast.
Enjoy your very well deserved day off grandmabatty
I’m hoping to continue a bit of gardening this morning, there’s always lots to keep me busy. And then I’m looking forward to going out line dancing this evening. The dancing is good, quite challenging at times but the best thing is the lovely friendly company, lots of laughs and really good fun
Glammagran hoping you enjoyed the sleepover even though it sounds like hard work, we’ve had times like that too
Enjoy every minute of your cruise BlueSapphire!
Hoping everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

harrigran Mon 19-Oct-26 08:10:26

Good morning from an overcast NE where it is 11° with a forecast for rain and a high of 14 °.
Yesterday was very quiet, only communication was with DD as she travelled to London, Normally it would be the one train from Newcastle to King's Cross but being Sunday there were engineering works so she had to change trains at York.
She eventually reached her home in Brussels after eleven hours.
I believe she ie travelling for work first thing this morning so I am hoping she had a decent night's sleep.
Nothing planned for today so will do some light housework then do some reading.
GD2 is on half term holiday, two weeks, she is catching up with her friends from her previous school and went to see Hadestown yesterday. I think that will be about the 4th time and she has worked backstage for one of the productions.
Have a good day.
