Hi all from Co Armagh, it’s so cold I’ve switched on the oil heating , oil was ordered this morning and the tank was full when we came home from shopping
Also visited O2 to sort out my phone , daughters did all the talking as I havent a clue
Phone stopped working when we were in Donegal , the house we stayed in had no Wi-Fi , seems I was using my “ data “ whatever that is , then it stopped , ran out of said “data”
Now on a new contract with 100 instead of 2 of this “data” 🙄
Off to watch Countdown, any other fans ?
I hope every one can have a good day x

A late good morning well afternoon from me. I’ve been up early but busy cleaning and just sat down for lunch and a read of all your doings. If I stop when I’m in the midst of cleaning I never get going again😂 DH was out so I had a clear run at it!

All this talk of eating rabbit is making me feel quite ill. I happily eat beef, pork, lamb and chicken but rabbit, duck, liver and heart is a no no.

Missing Bellas and hoping she is feeling better and will be back soon. I’m not a regular poster at mo but do try to read most days but sometimes it is quite late on.

Sending best wishes to all 🌷

Late December. What a lovely knitted dress. You are very talented

Gingster Mon 19-Oct-26 11:00:55

Good morning. I’m rather late as Plasterer is here and phone calls kept distracting me.

Yesterday ds1 set up the tv in the bedroom so it gives me and Dh opportunities to watch our favourite programmes . Entirely different tastes.

MD it always amazes me how well attended Catholic Churches are. My Dh and AC are Catholic but I’m C of E. I don’t go very often but there’s usually a congregation of about 10. We have a lovely new church and it’s used for various meetings, clubs etc but hardly any Sunday service attendees.
What does that say !

Today Dh has the physio coming and hopefully that will spur him on to excercises.🤞.
I’ll pop to the bank and post office later when it’s quieter.

Sar good to hear from you. Hope you feel better and enjoy your cruise.

Dh has his flu and Covid jabs on Friday. No reaction whatsoever. He’s never had a cold, headache or aches and pains. A strong constitution but suffered a stroke 🤔.

Take care all 🌻

I remember mum making a rabbit stew and when we sat at the table with our parents , my younger sister and I cried when we were told it wasn’t chicken. Tears were dripping down our cheeks. Daft really when we’d never had a pet rabbit and would eat meat of any other kind!

I recall loads of bones on our plates and mum said right I’m never making that again with all this fuss….

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

No cleaner today as she’s taking her daughter to have braces fitted. She’ll be here tomorrow.

I will listen to two lectures from the V&A on the Georgians this morning. It is a very good online course and I’m really enjoying it.

Waitrose after lunch for the weekly shop.

In the meantime OH is still disinfecting a couple of his beehives. It seems to be a long job.

My mum used to cook rabbits when we were little. I’ve cooked them a couple of times when friends have given me a rabbit or two which they’ve shot themselves and prepared for cooking. OH still remembers a rabbit and prune pie I made for his birthday from a Delia Smith recipe.

Have a good day, especially those of you with difficulties.

Our local butcher was selling locally caught rabbits the other day, very cheap too, I had a flashback when the butchers used to display them outside their shops. I could not eat rabbit but of course it would have been different in the war. My mum pulled a face when I asked about rabbit in food

karmalady Mon 19-Oct-26 08:51:08

Jaxjacky isnt it lovely when your mouth heals and you can eat normal food. I would not have coped so well with one extraction on each side, you did marvelously

Good morning from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast. Out to lunch with DD in the country yesterday and very good it was too. The restaurant had gone over the top with foliage, expanded with autumn leaves, but all very lush and carpeted!, not often seen these days and good for conversation. We had the Sunday roast, much enjoyed as living alone, I don’t bother to cook it for myself.

Then a drive around bits of the countryside I don’t know very well and a resolve to revisit a village we drove through for lunch myself soon. In the evening DD visited an old school friend.

DD leaves for the south today after only two nights, but she packs a lot in.
Years ago I used to cook rabbit Ashcombe and the local rat-catcher shot them in the sandhills.
Very pretty dress lateDecember and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from Stockport where the temperature is 10 but it feels warmer in the house.
My GS has just warned me the hall contains mice innards , Molly has been active during the night.

I had a nice Sunday carvery yesterday with my friend, it was busy and noisy.

The rest of the day was quiet and relaxing , I needed little to eat and read for most of the time.
Today will be lazy as I have a busy week, very unusual for me now.

Enjoy what you can of your day everyone.

Good morning from a damp Suffolk where we had several very heavy cloud bursts yesterday. The pond had a small damp patch at lunchtime but it had dried up by late afternoon with the strong wind.

I intend to pop down to the church later for another bout of cleaning, this being my month to do it. The lady who is on the rota with me is nearly 90 and still insists on doing her bit.

Mentions of rabbit has reminded me of our lovely cleaner, babysitter, pheasant cleaner and general wonderful person. She used to make a rabbit pie for breakfast on Christmas Day for her family as her mother had done.

She made 1 for DH who had said it sounded wonderful. This continued until she died nearly 10 years ago. I never took over that job!

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning from the Essex coast. Someone wondered where I was yesterday, very kind to think of me.
I read this thread every day but don't often write on it.
I've been quite unwell this weekend after having my flu and RSV jabs last week. Coincidence, I'm not sure.
A busy week ahead as we are going on a Cruise next Sunday.
I may try to get a doctor's appointment tomorrow if I feel no better.
I'm sorry to hear of life's trials and tribulations that so many of you bear.
I hope this is the start of a better week for everyone xx

Good morning from Durham. Rain is expected soon, then a forecast of 15c, although it’ll feel much cooler.
Usual Monday morning coffee with a friend and another has said she’ll join us. Later, I really must collect my bracelet (left to be cleaned and pre-paid) and pick up some milk and a few bits.
I had an Old English rabbit as a pet and I couldn’t/wouldn’t eat rabbit to save my life! DH learned very early on not to shoot them and later, like me, became very fond of hares and guests to his shoot days were forbidden to shoot them too!

Best wishes to all. X

Jaxjacky Mon 19-Oct-26 08:27:30

Ah, there you are!

Jaxjacky Mon 19-Oct-26 08:26:05

Morning from a bright S Hants, no karmalady?
We ate rabbit regularly when we lived in France Ashcombe would now if it was readily available and reasonable.
Voluntary phone today. In between there’s washing to do and minor chores.
Sounds marvellous BlueSapphire.
Have a good day all.

Grammaretto Mon 19-Oct-26 08:24:50

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's cold .
I'm going on a U3A trip today. A walk around Edinburgh visiting all? the war memorials from Castle to Calton Hill via the poppies in Princes St gardens.

Hopefully there'll be a coffee stop

Yesterday I enjoyed Dunbar arts trail . 63 artists lots in their own studios.
It's a very arty town. I have a couple of artist friends there and have toyed with the idea of moving there however I think I will stay in my own town.

I was invited to dinner with a friend who's a good cook and the 5 of us ladies had such a jolly evening and delicious food . Her DD is getting married on Saturday and I'm invited.

It took my mind off my own house woes.

Such a pretty pinaforeLateDecember
This pigeon made me smile.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, dry and bright today, again

What a lovely little dress LateDecember I do love the colours and style

LLFL I popped into the other thread yesterday and saw your extremely gorgeous quilt. Absolutely beautiful and tactile too, Outstanding talented work

I am up late today, I slept better once the second Welsh wool blanket was on my bed. I now have a wool summer duvet with two of those blankets on top. I actually like the weight on me. I feel warmer this morning, wearing my cosy housecoat but my lower legs are cooler, I must do something about that

Craft group today then I will carry on with mindful sewing this evening

harrigran Mon 19-Oct-26 08:10:26

Good morning from an overcast NE where it is 11° with a forecast for rain and a high of 14 °.
Yesterday was very quiet, only communication was with DD as she travelled to London, Normally it would be the one train from Newcastle to King's Cross but being Sunday there were engineering works so she had to change trains at York.
She eventually reached her home in Brussels after eleven hours.
I believe she ie travelling for work first thing this morning so I am hoping she had a decent night's sleep.
Nothing planned for today so will do some light housework then do some reading.
GD2 is on half term holiday, two weeks, she is catching up with her friends from her previous school and went to see Hadestown yesterday. I think that will be about the 4th time and she has worked backstage for one of the productions.
Have a good day.

brook2704 Mon 19-Oct-26 08:03:17

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s been a cold clear night and a dry sunny day is forecast.
Enjoy your very well deserved day off grandmabatty
I’m hoping to continue a bit of gardening this morning, there’s always lots to keep me busy. And then I’m looking forward to going out line dancing this evening. The dancing is good, quite challenging at times but the best thing is the lovely friendly company, lots of laughs and really good fun
Glammagran hoping you enjoyed the sleepover even though it sounds like hard work, we’ve had times like that too
Enjoy every minute of your cruise BlueSapphire!
Hoping everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

EkwaNimitee Mon 19-Oct-26 08:02:42

Good morning Mick and everyone from a Carlisle of heavy cloud...it will rain no doubt. We don't need it.
Yesterday was a quiet day of pottering, my only visit to the garden was to walk around in the pleasant warm sun. We'd had frost first thing too.
I wasn't idle, I made bread and a fruit cake, my excuse being I needed to use up some old dried fruit. It's now sliced up and will go in the garage freezer, minus the 2 slices I've managed to scoff first...it was Sunday after all!

Today it's into town yet again, I have to pick up a delivery from M&S which should have been available when I went in on Saturday but wasn't. I'll take the opportunity to have some passport photos done, a process I hate. Unfortunately my nice red passport will expire soon and the tour company demands 6 months left on it.

I wish I could get rabbit like I could from Spanish supermarkets, it's a healthy low saturated fat meat, I wouldn't buy Chinese though, I shudder to think of the rearing conditions. A few years ago, we stayed on a Shetland croft and the crofter bought rabbits from the local lads who shot them at a £1 each. They were a pest there. She made us a wonderful rabbit stew I remember to this day.
The rest of my day will be laundry and bed changing plus getting on with my book.

Have a good day all!

Gagagran Mon 19-Oct-26 07:59:46

Good Morning everyone from a clear but damp central south coast. We must have had rain in the night but it is dry just now.

I have to have a blood test before I can get my repeat thyroxine scrip and have just managed to get an appointment for 9am, surprisingly. Usually there are no slots for some time. So DH will drop me off as parking is difficult and pick me up afterwards.

Otherwise the beds have been changed and the laundry is in the washer and that is all there is, so far, on today's agenda.

I hope all the doings scheduled for today go as well as possible and that anyone unwell feels better today. Take care everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Oct-26 07:49:21

Sorry, that should be Ashcombe for the rabbit mention!
