Are you keeping a secret?

I heard last week of the death of a lady in our village, and remembered that I knew about something that had happened to her years ago that she would have wanted kept secret. Nothing earth shattering, but it would probably have been a good piece of gossip! I realised that I have never told a soul.
Apart from family stuff, are you keeping someone’s secret, or how good are you at keeping them?

I worked most of my adult life in jobs where I had signed a confidentiality clause. So it became a habit for me not to talk about anything confidential.

I have, and always have had, friends who confided matters to me on the understanding that what they had said would go no farther.

Once or twice what A had told me, later became public knowledge, and then quite often mutal friends would ask me, "Did you know about that?" Usually, I replied that I had not know about it until the matter was made public, as there seemed no point in admitting that I had kept a confidence for years.

My family always say I can’t keep secrets but I have two big ones of my own that I will never tell anyone ever. It’s the little ones I have been known to let slip.

My mum, who was fully compos mentis right up until her death, said to me a few weeks before she died: "There is something I could tell you, but I'm not going to."

That was very naughty of her, because for many years since her death, we've been trying to guess what it was she might have been withholding from us.

If I were keeping any kind of secret, for myself or anyone else, I wouldn't admit to doing so, much less telling what the secret is!

My elderly mother was fully compos mentis right up until her death. About three weeks before she died she said "There is something I could tell you, but I'm not going to."

That was very naughty of her, because we've spent years since wondering what (if anything significant) she had been withholding from us all!

If someone trusts me enough to share their secret I wouldn’t dream of repeating it not even to them.
I told my best friend of 40 years a secret and I know she will take it to her grave and I will do the same

There is one secret in the family, all the family knows about, apart from the person in the family who’s secret it belongs to, they think it’s still a secret,if that makes sense.
I wouldn’t disclose anyone’s secrets, I think I am loyal like that.

My secret haunts me, has done for years. I wouldn’t know where to start to share it although the person concerned is long dead.

Yes I've a secret pertaining to 'Confidentiality' from a work setting which I've kept to myself for years. It rests at the back of my mind and only popped up from this thread.

I've kept a couple of very big secrets from my family. Nothing good would ever come of revealing them.
