Good morning from a cool Morecambe Bay.
I was definitely with you in spirit Madeleine as I read your post. What an enjoyable day you must have had. I hope you find your watch today. My Apple Watch is more than eleven years old bought as a present for my 60th birthday. It doesn’t update anymore but is still serviceable as a watch and it records my exercise and steps as well. I suspect its battery won’t last much longer as it has the occasional hissy fit and tells me lies! Last week I walked with CDog for about an hour and it recorded nearly 7 miles. No way did I do that distance. CDog may have done that much with his running to and fro but definitely not me.
Today we are going to Southport for a couple of days in the camper. We will incorporate some child minding in that visit. It’s half term for DGD. I’m sure half terms didn’t come round so quickly when I used to teach.
I must confess to still being in bed. I didn’t sleep well last night - too hot, too cold, itchy, various aches and pains and general nagging discomfort to keep me awake until I finally dropped off about half four. I feel fine now and just want to go back to sleep but I’ll drink my TiB and move myself. I need to pack and hit the road. Take care everyone 🌸

Another lovely morning and I feel more like myself though the injected arm is still sore. If I react like this to the immunisation I console myself that the illnesses would be much worse.

No plans at all for today but will see what unfolds. Will go for a paper and then consider. Wish I had Madeleine’s enterprise!

Good morning from Shropshire.A chilly start.

Yesterday was a good day with the children. We all went to watch DGS at his swimming lesson where we met up with one of DD’s friends and her children. We were all surprised at the massive improvement in DGS’s swimming. He was so fast and strong. We started watching Strictly but all got a bit bored so a very early night.

The children have only just woken up.DH will cut the grass today then we will take the children home after lunch and stay for roast dinner.

baubles 💐🙏🏻

Thinking of our absent friends.Hoping Sar is ok.

Wishing everyone a good day🦩🌻

Good morning from Kerry ,1° here chilly but rising to 11° midday, still haven't the oil heating on yet, I do have ceramic heaters in most rooms so we heat the rooms we are in at the moment, I will turn it on this evening to warm up the whole house just for an hour or so,
Yesterday I found an injured cat in my back garden, I took it to the vet and it has a fractured leg and its ear was cut across missing the tip, if its not claimed it will probably end up added to my 5 cats,,,it was very friendly but thin,I could feel its ribs, asked neighbours did they recognise it but no, so I have to assume its a stray,
Later took my grandson to the usual cafe where he always chooses 4 sausages beans no toast, he is autistic and has food dislikes, we then go to the game shop and poodle around in there,do food shopping and then drive the 16km home,,today after the carer gets my dh up and we have breakfast I'm off to the methodist church about 15 minutes drive from here,my son is around to stay with dh,I may also drive(53km) after dinner to my daughters she is living out on the coast on a sheep farm, her husband is a sheep farmer and they have their granddaughter staying for the weekend, (my great granddaughter) the beach near them is beautiful , to take a walk, its good to get a break,
Well I have another 30 minutes before the carer arrives so will take my coffee and sit outside in the garden and take in the stillness .
Have a lovely day ,all of you

Good Morning from an overcast Durham. We are forecast a shower soon, then a temperature of up to 12c later. I
had a strange day yesterday, I won’t dwell on it. The TV engineer suggested a new set for my bedroom, which I’ll consider.
I’m going to DD2’s later and we’ll find somewhere to take DGS2 - his choice, if he can make up his mind. I must remember my secateurs, as I’m being attacked by her rampant pyracantha! I have the same ‘bin issues’ Helter - I curse the leaves every year!

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a lovely sunny Black Country where there is not a cloud in the sky.

Didn't get down to the Open day at the canal yesterday, as sort of got tied down with work around the house. My friend has messaged me to see if I would like to go with her this morning. Lots of Canal boats, food stalls, music, craft stalls.

Suddenly realised yesterday Mum had an appointment at her Surgery for the flu jab next Saturday, and I would be in Birmingham after a concert Friday night. Luckily DD said she would take her, she only lives 4 miles away from Mum.

I saw on the Day Centre's FB page where Mum goes Wednesday and Friday's that they were making cakes, and there was a photo of Mum mixing cake mixture. When I asked her later what cake she made, she couldn't even remember doing so confused. So sad, as she was a prolific cake maker in the past.

Jaxjacky I bought 5 magnetic white boards to put on my freezer, and when I add anything it is written on the correct numbered shelf. Likewise wiped off when an item is taken out. Bought them from Home Bargains.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Rain is forecast and it’s definitely cooler. Whatever, I still have my summer duvet on and unless there are raging blizzards, that’s it!

Church this morning at the smallest church in the Benefice.

I’ll finish the enormous quilt today. Just the corners to do. I decided not to do mitred corners. Maybe a tiny bit of embroidery on one of the squares I left blank. Then I’ll put it away for a while,

Beef bourguignon for dinner. It’s one of our favourite casseroles and I haven’t made it for a while. I bought a bottle of Good Ordinary Claret in Waitrose yesterday, which is perfect. Raspberry crumble for pudding - I have a couple of boxes of raspberries in the freezer so I’ll use them up. Generally, with strawberry or raspberry crumble we have cream or vanilla iced cream. Any other crumble demands hot custard. In Waitrose yesterday OH wondered why we couldn’t have custard so I said buy some then, because I’m not making any. So he did.

Have a good day everyone, particularly those of you with difficulties. Fond thoughts for those who have been absent for a while. I hope all is well.

Good morning from a cloudy Leicestershire.

I got all the washing dry yesterday so no need to do any today.

The spine consultant was very nice. He will refer me to the physio for 3 months. After that maybe an injection or operation.
It was a private company that the NHS are using.

Not much planned for today except a walk and roast beef for dinner.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from a gloriously sunny south Manchester! It’s a gorgeous morning. I’m having a lazy one (no surprise there) with TiB, the papers and messaging my sister in Estapona who would rather WApp than chat.

I’m meeting my friend in Chorlton at noon (good, no rush then) for a stroll about, chat, coffee then she’d like to attend the Buddhist centre there at 2pm for prayers for world peace (a couple of meditations and a little talk for 15 mins). I’m welcome to join her or just hop on the bus home.

I’ve got food in so no need to shop. Chicken thighs, a baked potato then binge watch Fauda will be my late afternoon/early evening, so all in all a nice day ahead. I hope yours is too, if anxiety allows.x

Quinces are repulsively sour and hard when raw, but they smell heavenly. Interestingly, when cooked, they retain the scent and they taste just like that, but quite sort of. They are related to pears, so are very gritty.
I haven’t tried it, but apparently, they are delicious roasted as an accompaniment to roasts.
I chop them up, boil until soft, mush them then strain for jelly.
Fruit leather can be made too, but the “blopping” of the product is viciously hot and burnt my arms alarmingly. Never made it again.

Good morning from a cold Co Armagh, it was down to 0 deg last night ,

Good morning from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast. DD drove up from the south yesterday and had a quick turnaround, changing for an evening wedding do and looking lovely. Such energy, I wish I had it..
I dropped her and her best friend off at the venue and had a quiet night in.

Later we are going out for Sunday lunch to a highly recommended place in the country, so I’m looking forward to that. Before then, I’ll book my train tickets for my visits south to her (no long distance driving for me).
Thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from once again Sunny Stockport.
I am still in bed drinking tea, very pleasant it is too.

I am out for a very early Sunday lunch with my friend across the road so no breakfast this morning.
My friend who can be late for some things is very determined over others and if she wants an early lunch everyone has an early lunch.
I just keep the peace, it is easier.

It is very chilly this morning, I had the heating set higher yesterday, there is a definite change in temperature now.
I hope you all enjoy your day today and wish you some peace.

Grandmabatty Sun 18-Oct-26 10:24:51

GrandMattie thank you for the quince information. I've never seen them here in shops

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny day somewhere off the NW coast of France! The sea is quite settled and calm, but have not ventured out on deck yet.

Had a good journey down and arrived at the ship in time for lunch.
Luggage arrived at the cabins mid afternoon and was able to unpack before dinner; was seated at a table for dinner with three other single ladies and we enjoyed a pleasant evening chatting.

Had a late breakfast, so will miss lunch, then I have booked a pedicure this afternoon, something I always do on the first sea day. No other plans made yet. Two more sea days before our first port of Gibraltar.

Wishing all a pleasant Sunday.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 18-Oct-26 10:32:59

Sounds wonderfully relaxing BlueSapphire and the sunny (if tad chilly) weather gives you a great start to your holiday. Mu sister in Estapona said they’d had a huge storm, thunder, lightning and very heavy rain last night. Hopefully the sun will be back for you there round the corner from Gibraltar!

I have received a pm chastising me for “not liking” a church person as it is unchristian.
All I can say to that person is that not everyone is the perfect Christian unlike, I presume, herself!

Jaxjacky Sun 18-Oct-26 12:38:42

How rude gMattie

Gosh GM, none of us are perfect!

I have my practiced fixed smile for parishioners, I find difficult.

mamaa Sun 18-Oct-26 13:39:12

Too late for saying Good Morning, so will wish you all a good Sunday afternoon instead.
I read the GM thread every morning usually, and as I have very lttle of interest to say, I rarely post.
However, I was readingMD's post and the section regarding her DD's cancelled balloon ride reminded me of a balloon ride that I received as a present for my 50th birthday.
It was cancelled at least 4 times- I was nearly 51 by the time the balloon actually went up!
I hope your DD is more fortunate than I was MD, and gets to enjoy her balloon ride sooner rather than later! x
