Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start to the day here in Brackley.
Today its a early bus to Bicester , go for a coffee and a bite to eat, have a beer or two at Spoons last few days of beer festival , mind you they do not seem as busy these days despite low prices.
Shop and chat to those I know.
Have a light lunch at home ,and go for a Chinese later .
Health wise had letter as to telecon with nurse at Churchill , Oxford , await MRI scan whenever as explained depending on the result will see what path they take .
Take Care,
Mick

Good afternoon from a sunny Stockport.
I got involved with a parcel delivery and then two long phone calls this morning.

To add to comments about Strikes garden centres ,our local one is Strikes and I had lunch there yesterday with my GD’s younger half sister and her 16 month old son.
They have a super miniature railway and we went on it, to be truthful we adults enjoyed it more than the toddler did.

They came back to me and stayed until after 4pm, he is gorgeous and such a good baby but lively doesn’t cover it and I fell asleep on the sofa when they went home.

I was pleased to see that although preparations were being made with lots of packaging and boxes about they do not have their Christmas displays ready yet.

I have a quiet day today but then out for Sunday lunch with my friend across the road tomorrow.

I hope you all see some of the sun we have today.

Good morning from a frosty Co Armagh, lovely sun , so low it’s showing up the dog hairs from the visitors ! I dozed in the chair yesterday then slept in this morning, not put a spark in my doings , I have to inspect the washing still on the line after an unexpected shower yesterday!
Still enjoying being home after our lovely break in Donegal
Shell I love Kerry
Have the best day you can everyone x

Hello Weirdo you had better luck with the young man on the till than me.
I was asked, by the young male assistant, if I would like to buy a chocolate bar. I smiled at him and said 'no thank you. A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips '.
The young man just stared at me as if I was completely mad.

Forgot to say I've had the M and S Beauty Advent Calendar several times, Marydoll, and I've always found it good value and the contents are good quality. On Mumsnet Style and Beauty there's usually a daily M and S box opening thread.

They usually include a Deep Sleep item and a nice Christmassy nail polish. I wouldn't have tried Emma Hardie cleanser but for getting it in the AC and the same with different mascara brands.
DH has treated me to the You Beauty one this year. I'm going to save it to open in February as I always find that a dreary month.

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

Michael12, I wish you luck with the MRI.

I went into Spar this morning for a bag of these choccy coins, which I only have occasionally, and grabbed a carton of Alpro Soya milk and a couple of other essentials. As a customer, it was only just me in there at the time, and I took everything to the till, and I asked the lad, and us 2 always play each other up, and he's just about young enough to be my son or grandson if I had one, as he's only 21, so he's 40 years my junior, ''Can I pay for everything with the choccy coins?!'' And very automatically, he said, ''Of course you can!'' Then he realised his comment as I died laughing, and he replied ''Get out of here, you old hag!'' And we cackled away!

It's really frosty and cold this morning, and we had some more rain during the night - gorgeous!

Had a brilliant day off yesterday; on my walk I met various doggies I know and a couple I didn't know at the time, including a HUGE German Shepherd called Regina. Built like a buffalo she is! She's a very beautiful lady with glorious soft fur, hypnotic brown eyes and a lovely smile. We hugged and kissed, and her big fluffy tail was wagging merrily!

I watched a fascinating YouTube video about the Christmas Tree Worm! Very beautiful colours, and they're tube worms that live on corals in the Caribbean. They can hide in them, away from predators.

See you all later!

Good morning everyone from a sunny, breezy Lancashire.

I'm sitting in the conservatory drinking in the silence. 💗
Dh has taken the little chap shopping so I've got a bit of peace. I should go and do some ironing really but I'm going to rebel and do some knitting instead!

We've had a busy couple of days so I think today will be gentle.

We'll watch Strictly this evening. I remember you mentioning about the dog training contestant, Mick. He seems good fun and not a bad dancer. Lauren has a nice way with her so hopefully he'll do ok, although I'm not sure he'll win the trophy. If he'd got Nancy he'd be a shadow of his former self! 😂

Hope you have a super cruise, BlueSaphire.
Glad your minibreak has gone well, GrandMattie.

Oh, the Pokemon, Yughio, Beyblade days! The kids used to test my knowledge when we were on car journeys and I had no means of escape.

How sad, Gagagran. Hard to think of someone not being able to see another way and hard for those left behind to mourn.

Welcome Shell. This is a lovely thread. I love reading what everyone is up to.

I'll love you and leave you. Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast.
A very enjoyable day yesterday as I took off for countryside Cheshire and the area where I had a caravan until 2022. I do miss it and often think about having another for the change of scene, but it’s another thing to worry about and the house is enough.

It was a mixed day with sun showers, but I started off with coffee in a pretty village, the cafe was once the local grocers and had a lot of character. Then to an excellent farm shop and stocked up on goodies, more expensive, but good quality. They also have a cafe, so I treated myself to scampi and chips and that was my main meal done for the day.

Then a lovely tootle round all the familiar lanes in my little Noddy car with Classic FM as background music, the trees looking lovely.

I ended up in the nearest market town to my old site and had a good walk, picking up a couple of items en route. After all this, my back was complaining even with my back support and paracetamol, so headed for home just before sunset. The journey seemed much longer than I remembered, naturally as I’m not now doing it regularly. I took the opportunity of practising my songs and scales in the car, so it wasn’t wasted time.

DD is driving up from the south today and enjoys driving, taking it in her stride, unlike me. I’m glad I drive, but have never enjoyed it.
Thoughts to Blossoming and all, hello Shell and Bon voyage BlueSapphire🌺

Good morning from a cool but dry NE, forecast is for a high of 11° today.
The piano tuner arrived as planned yesterday and it was straightforward, can now revert to annual tuning.
During the afternoon I went to read a magazine, sat on the sofa and the next thing I knew it was 5pm. I was cross with myself because I thought I wouldn't sleep at bedtime, I slept like a log.

This evening I am going out to dinner with my family to celebrate my sister's 70th birthday.
DD and SIL will return to Brussels tomorrow and sister to Germany on Tuesday and DS and family go on holiday on Wednesday so it is a farewell party too.

Have a good weekend.

Morning from a sunny, cool S Hants, I posted earlier and it was lost.
Welcome Shell951.
Yesterday morning was all activity as I’d put the TV on early to check a recording, TV said no, after running through some tests (thanks YouTube) we declared it defunct.
A new one was bought and collected by about 9:30, set up after an hour.
My son and gf called in as they were passing. Tesco delivered pm, including two ducks, now in the freezer.
Pub later today, coat required.
Have a wonderful cruise BlueSapphire.
Safe travels to those on the move.
Hope those absent are ok, particularly Blossoming who struggles at times.

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry and cool start with sun forecast later which will warm the house nicely.

DD1 and family got home from their holiday at 5 yesterday morning. The children were in school at 9.We returned their little dog collecting two very tired children from school on the way. They soon brightened up when they saw the dog in the car and it was a very jolly reunion and journey back to their house.
We got home and cleaned all the floors and washed the dog blankets and bed.

Today the children will arrive mid morning and stay for a sleepover.DH will take DGS for his swimming lesson and DGD and I will do some sewing. She found some beautiful appliqué pieces mum had made and is wanting to make some cushion covers so we will attempt that😳

Shell I have to pretend knowledge of Nintendo games too with DGS2.Occasionally I actually manage to score quite well in a game and he says you’re getting there grandma! Not really, a total fluke! Are you in Kerry in Wales or Ireland?I had a friend who lived in Kerry,Wales.

Hope your appointment goes well today dragonfly and have a lovely cruise Blue.

Thinking of our absent friends and hope they will be back with us soon.

Wishing everyone a good day🦩🌻

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Frost on the grass.

I must have got to sleep because I was woken by the alarm. I realised I had to bake a cake but was running out of ingredients so have just been to Lidl, whisked up the cake which is in the oven. Now to do the flowers for the tables. It will be mostly seed heads and greenery. Then an art class.

Yesterday turned out nicely. Walk and café lunch with a girlfriend in Roslin and an evening at the cinema and an Indian meal in Edinburgh with my 80yr old friend who's recovering from a stroke.

I enjoyed the latest version Sense and Sensibility - with scenes I don't remember from the book 🤔😅

All the best Dragonfly 🤞

Enjoy your cruise BlueSapphire.

Thinking of the Marydolls

Enjoy your weekend as best you can everyone.

glammagran Sat 17-Oct-26 08:53:15

Good morning from sunny Wiltshire.

We have the GCs for a sleepover tonight. We will have homemade pizzas which amazingly, both children will eat. I just hope they behave which is probably a forlorn hope.

Yesterday we walked round the arboretum at Bowood. I saw some goldcrests which I was thrilled about. They are so tiny. We hear them constantly when we visit but as the trees begin to lose their leaves they are becoming easier to spot. It was sad to see a large oak tree but only a couple of acorns underneath. There were huge numbers of horse chestnuts around; nearly all had been opened up but have no idea what animals had done so.

Have a good day everyone.

GrannySomerset Sat 17-Oct-26 08:51:07

Glorious autumn morning but am feeling the effects of yesterday’s flu and Covid jabs. Am off to collect pills from the surgery, put petrol in the car and then home to feel sorry for myself until my system settles down. I think I decided last year not to have both jabs at once but just wanted to get it over with. Fortunately I have no plans for the weekend so can hunker down and live on tea and toast.

brook2704 Sat 17-Oct-26 08:39:34

Good Morning everyone from Invernes where it’s dry with light grey clouds. I’ve had a good nights sleep and woken up late, I think I was tired from the busy week and childcare
Today I’ve just a bit of food shopping to do, a couple of things for the post office and lots of washing. I think DH and I will go to the local garden centre for a coffee and a browse around.
Welcome Shell951
Hope everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

Gagagran Sat 17-Oct-26 08:34:11

Good Morning everyone from the central south coast where it is 8 degrees but will soon warm up a bit as the sun is showing its face.

DH is out with his cycling club for coffee and cake this morning but I am looking forward to a quiet time after a hectic week with something every day.
I am disappointed with my haircut done yesterday by my lovely but enthusiastic "shearer" hairdresser. I told her I only wanted a little bit off as I was enjoying having a bit more length but have ended up with a very short crop. I tell myself it will grow but I do wish she would listen (stop chatting non-stop) and stop snipping away at my thinning locks!

In the afternoon it was the funeral of a former member of the WI where I was president some years ago before it closed in March this year. It turned out that she had ended her life on the tenth anniversary of her former husband's death. So sad. They were divorced but had remained close and good friends. She couldn't forgive him initially, for an affair he had but if ever a couple should have weathered the storm, they were it.

Take care everyone and best wishes to all with struggles of any kind. Hope the day brings some comfort and that we all have a good day. Safe travels to those on the move too!

Hello Shel1951 👋.

NannyJan53 Sat 17-Oct-26 08:30:06

Good morning from a chilly Black Country, with a bright blue sky.

MrJ had both his Flu and Covid Jab yesterday, and started to feel quite achey last night. He is still in bed.

There is an open weekend at the Bonded Warhouse, so we may have a wander down. Lots of canal boats, food stalls, music, craft fayre.

Homemade curry tonight.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Marydoll Sat 17-Oct-26 08:29:37

Dragonfly, best wishes for today.♥️

Welcome Shell.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 1°C°
I have had a dreadful night, dreaming of my stalker.
In my dream, I was late for Mass, was walking around in my underwear, the sacristy was full of children of various ages, in full school uniform ( my own school) and worst of all, I hadn't printed the posters, the stalker has been hassling me about all week. 😱

Yesterday was a rather quiet day. I did go to Silverburn, but came back after only visiting a few stores. I can't do it anymore, without feeling unwell.
My world is definitely shrinking.

We have not been on holiday for over a year, due to our ill health, so I blew some my holiday savings on an M&S Advent calendar.
I have never had a beauty Advent calendar and had been swithering for weeks.
I have been watching You tube reveals and was shocked to see a John Lewis one is £250 !
My sons always buy them for their wives and I used to get a wee bit envious.
Yesterday, an eager assistant took me through the contents. It is excellent value, three items alone (which I will use) are worth £100.
. I messaged to DD to say, that she may be the recipient of some unwanted items for her 🎅

Last night, DH and I were in the Chinese take away, when I received a call from the surgery. For some reason, I couldn't answer it.
I went outside to call back. The receptionist could not find out, who had called.
Eventually, we worked out in was the nurse. The receptionist asked if I was free to talk. There was much hilarity, when I said I was in the take away shop and it might not be a great idea.
Instead of just saying, "No", I launched into an explanation of why I was refusing to cook.
DH is back to being difficult and at times confused. I am already struggling and am quite annoyed with him.
The receptionist said her colleagues now fancied a takeaway.🤣

Leaving DH to wait alone, I went into the Italian cafe next door and treated myself to a quarter of chocolate Italian creams and a quarter of dairy fudge, my favourite treats. You are always asked if you want a quarter and then are given 250g.

I was indeed having a day of indulgence.😉

Today, DIL2 will be on a hot air balloon, (a fortieth birthday gift from DS) somewhere above York. This will be right up her street. I will await her being safely on the ground with great trepidation.😱
DS is taking Babydoll to the transport museum, where we spent many happy hours, when the children were young.
My children seem to be revisiting places and holiday destinations from their childhood.

I wish you all a pleasant Saturday, whatever your plans.

dragonfly46 Sat 17-Oct-26 08:19:58

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Nothing much planned today except an appointment at 4.30 with a spinal surgeon. I admit to being somewhat nervous!

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Liberty Sat 17-Oct-26 08:17:16

Good morning from a brightening Suffolk where we had some welcome rain yesterday.

We have both our flu and COVID jabs this morning so have made no plans for the weekend apart from the weekly delivery later. I usually feel tired and have a sore arm for a day or so. DH doesn’t have any reaction so we’ll see if today is as before.

Hope you enjoy Jimmy’s Farm Gingster. DS and family have an annual pass and often meet friends there.

Hope all have a good day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 17-Oct-26 08:17:07

Crikey Blue Sapphire all those suitcases! How long are you away for? 😂

Greyduster Sat 17-Oct-26 08:16:23

Welcome, Shel1951 - you do indeed live in a beautiful part of the world!

kittylester Sat 17-Oct-26 08:15:12

Good morning all from a bright but chilly North Leicestershire.

Today we have to feed DS1's cat and buy a toaster. Living the high life.

DH's blood results were inconclusive so are being repeated in a fortnight.

Have the best day possible everyone.
