I belonged to a group like this where one of the ladies hogged the entire conversation with her life and experiences and she seemed to have wider, higher, and better things than anyone else. Oddly enough, I became privy to an incident she was involved in which revealed how lonely, down, and unhappy she really was. People who talk a lot are covering something up. If they were at peace with themselves, they would allow people space to be themselves. Is there anyway the rest of the group could say: Let's let Jane finish speaking and we are interested in her story. Also, you could direct a question at say Sue and ask: Sue how did you find the film? When Beryl answers on Sue's behalf, say: I was interested in what Sue had to say herself. If you do it gently and continue as a group, she will find herself in a position to listen. In the group I belonged to, it was actually a poetry group. I got so fed up with what Speaking Lady had to say that I decided to lead a poetry session myself. I went around from person to person and explained that I wanted everyone to feel they could speak without interruption. One other particular lady, who was a very talented poet, started to shine, and she got a lot of recognition from the rest of the group. Speaking Lady had to listen.
