Good Morning Sunday 13th September 2026

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it is dry and bright.

Our ‘Three Grans Group’ had a smashing day out in Glasgow yesterday involving lots of stops for sustenance along the way. The highlight was a very interesting guided tour of an old Cemetery which tied in nicely with the city centre walks we have been doing over the past few months.

Safe travels to all the holiday makers.

Today will be quiet as I’ve no real plans after Mass.

Morning all from a dull S Hants, light rain due, good as MrJ kindly put ten aster plants in yesterday.
Madeleine I backed that horse too, but 50p e/w, great race as a female jockey won making history,
Pork cooked yesterday for pulled pork today, offspring and grandchildren here for lunch. Grandson playing football first, MrJ will go and watch.

Good morning from a dry NE where the forecast is to remain dry and 18°.
Family arrived late afternoon after lunching with their aunt.
GDs were excited to show me the teddy bear they had collected. It was made from their school uniform, the school that was closed without warning. Both girls had their names sewn on to the paws with dates they attended.

Today is going to be a quiet day, just need to get something out of the freezer for my dinner. My appetite is poor at present so just something light.

A late good morning from a wet Suffolk where DH has just handed me my first cuppa. I decided yesterday to clean the freezer part of the fridge in the scullery where I discovered quite a few little bags of unlabelled and unidentifiable food.

I can’t think why I did this and apart fro saving a few pieces of cooked white fish which the dog will enjoy, the rest has been thrown away and I won’t be repeating this again.

We watched the Last Night of the Proms and I reminisced with the AC as to how,when they were at school,we always used to go out for dinner on that Saturday and get home in time to watch the second half. Their school year must have started later than it does now as it preceded their first week.

DS said that his clearest memory,30+ years later,was that,if we went to the local Indian restaurant,he always looked forward to dessert but there only seemed to be a frozen filled orange 🍊

I’m always surprised and amused by our children’s’ memories from their childhood!

Have been for the Sunday paper, a necessity in this one person household, and now have the local treasure dealing with the gutters - essential before autumn gets going, but the problem is dried moss on the roof rather than leaves. Will go to church if the job is finished in time - N is much in demand and you have to take him when it suits him rather than you.

Your delight in your girls is lovely, MD; my GD is still the light of my life at 24 so years of joy to look forward to.

Good morning all and we’ve had heavy rain through the night and more forecast for all day. Lovely!

Nothing planned for today but I might clear some clutter from the bedrooms in readiness for new carpets. Not sure when they’re coming , no rush but I expect they will clash with our new conservatory roof being started, the beginning of October, and what’s the betting we will have solid rain while it’s being done.

I do hope your aches and pains ease today Madeleine . Please try to ‘stay put’ and keep your leg elevated. I’m only going by my friend who has cellulitis occassionally and is conscious of not doing much at all . It really should be easing by

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Blue sky and sunshine.
I was very late to bed last night as my v chatty friend came over about 7.30 and stayed till past midnight.

I hope it helps her letting off steam with me about her work colleagues, annoying neighbours and somewhat disfunctional family.
I trade stories too and it helps me. Who needs a therapist when we have friends!

She also helped me decide what I must have in my new house as she viewed it with me.
I sent her away with a heavy roll of paper from the paper mill which closed down 20 years ago, and several bits and bobs.

The owls were hooting when she left.

DS and his wife came in the afternoon as I was finishing my shift as minder of the wee building open just for doors open day. DS took away some of his belongings and threw away more.

I gave him some of his dad's prized possessions too as I'm sure DH would have wanted.

Both of them were concerned about DGS who has finished Fresher's week at uni and was about to cook for his new flatmates. He was checking a recipe with his mum! 😊

All the DC are sad that their childhood home is being broken up and sold.

Good morning from Stockport, I slept late after a night of coughing which has arrived from nowhere along with a sore throat.
I had a stressful experience trying to pay a bill yesterday.
It is for the work done in my garden and the bank would not let me pay it.
I rang them but got a recorded message to ring again today .
I got very frustrated and wished for simpler times when we wrote a cheque and as long as the funds were available that was that.
A dull day with wet roads but no rain at the moment.
I wish for you all a decent day.

A much later good morning from a damp Northampton; it was apparently pouring during the night and the grass looks very fresh this morning. I shall need to cut it this week before my cataract op.

Came away empty handed from my visit to the club rugby store yesterday; nothing fitted me! Either too big/small or too long.
So I then walked up to the retail park, had a coffee and bacon roll in Costa and did a small top-up shop.

Watched rugby on tv when I got home, made a steak dinner early evening and settled down to watch the last night of the Proms. Watched the first half but unfortunately missed the second as I fell asleep! I shall watch it on catch-up.

Going up to DS's late afternoon for a family get-together to wish DGD1 well as she goes to uni in Bath this week; a big step in life for her. I have a card and money for her. Feeling a bit emotional... I remember that new-born baby, and taking her to her first day in school.

I'm at work again today, as on most Sundays: at 10:11, there are no customers yet, but they'll all come flooding in later.

I went to the convenience store last night for a box of my beloved PG Tips, but they'd run out! Shock! Gasp! So I got a huge box of the next best thing! I can't have me running out of tea! Rob Temple, the journalist who created Very British Problems on Facebook, is addicted to tea too! He obviously has great taste!
