Good Morning Everyone ,
A dark but a dry start here in Brackley today .
Up to my usual routine as to getting a bus to Bicester , using another bus stop as the one I use is closed off because of the annual fair in the town , hopefully chat to those I know.
Had a bad night health wise lucky I wear paper undys at night , but I seem to control number 2 when I take lapperamide capsules regularly.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Bristol. The sun is yet to rise, but there is a little light in the east.
Yesterday was tiring as the FAB cafe was very busy from early on. There were 23 attendees, which is a lot. Obviously, there is a need and, because we have the space, we seem to be very successful.
After a hurried lunch, I went to the other village for the library book group. We generally found the book an easy read but there were too many characters and no one especially wanted to read another by the same author.
I was wiped out and did very little once home.
Today is going to be interesting. Mr. Teflon has summoned us for a meeting supposedly to talk about budgets and expenditure, but he is brining re info in the shape of the lady in charge of repairs. I suspect it’s going to be a whingefest, with no result. If it is, I shall leave the meeting. There is no point in attending it.
Dining with DD this evening, stopping on the way to have my sunglasses adjusted again.
I hope everyone is on the uphill route re. health, especially md. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🐦‍🔥🦩🦩

re info = reinforcements

Good morning from Malta where it’s already 26°C rising to 36°C later.

I walked up to the village yesterday and immediately regretted it as it was so hot without any breeze to help.

I was so upset about Alcaraz losing by such a tiny margin, just three points, after a four hour slog. It ruined my day.

Made an appointment to see the doctor so had to walk back to the village again at 5.30pm. There was a queue a mile long and everyone was asking ‘what time was your appointment?’ It was, apparently, a mix up and looked like a ridiculously long wait so I decided to leave it and now have an appointment this morning with a different doctor,

I have got DGS2 this morning for an hour whilst DGS1 is at speech therapy, then DD3 will drop me at the pharmacy for my appointment, saving me the walk one way at least.

It shows no sign of cooling down and September is always a rather humid, sticky month.

It seems the scammers have been busy on GN this morning. I had a job to find this thread.🙄

Wishing you all a good day. ☀️

Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

I have an early hair appointment today and then Sainsbury's at teatime.

Marzipan22 Thu 10-Sept-26 06:08:37

Good morning from a cool, dark Cornwall where I woke very, very early and have been watching Downton Abbey DVDs, drinking tea and eating biscuits. Yum.

Looks like the Gransnet site is in a state with intruders. Hopefully it'll be sorted soon.

Today I have various charity shops to visit which will involve three buses, yippee.

Good morning from s somerset, rain is coming later

We need that rain, the allotment soil is still bone dry and rock hard, just six inches below the surface. I re-made a path yesterday and there are enormous cracks into the ground just below the landscape fabric The landscape bark bag was dry and although very heavy was manageable ie I could manage to lift it into my wheelbarrow, so I went back and bought 4 before they get soaked, Normally it is almost impossible to lift those bags. I won`t need any more this year

I fixed some paths yesterday and spread 4 bags of bark, I am going up there at 8ish to spread the last two and I`ll start to bring the smaller squashes home to cure. The allium bed is ready and I prepped another bed for sleep before potato planting early spring

I did enjoy being outside yesterday, 4 hours passed very quickly. Similar this morning and am again abandoning the idea of cycling, I think rain will start mid-morning

I will be indoors for the day later, I have the usual sewing and knitting and might even dust, certainly will be putting my feet up to watch a film or play or another documentary about Tibet and the nomads

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
Yesterday we went to Toddler Group where there were lots of new starters. It was the busiest I've ever seen it. It was nice to spot a couple of familiar faces to chat to and the little chap seemed happy to be back.

He fell asleep in the car coming home and stayed asleep when I carried him inside to the sofa which isn't like him. I actually sat down with a brew until he woke up an hour later!

I'm persevering with the snood on circular needles. The 40 cm needles are definitely easier to use than the 80 cm ones but it still doesn't feel as 'natural' as using 2 separate needles. The pattern is emerging and I think will look pretty once done.

We are meeting a friend at a local cafe this morning. I haven't seen her for ages as she goes on lots of holidays. She's very adventurous and it's always good to hear about her exploits.

Hope you have more luck seeing your Dr later, Bellasnana. I'm just amazed you can get an appointment the next day. It's usually a 4 week wait at our surgery.

Wushing everyone the best day possible and hoping all's well with Marydoll. 🌻

An amazing pink sunrise from my bedroom window. Scaffolding in view…

RosesandLilac Thu 10-Sept-26 06:43:04

Good morning from the hillside in south Glos, there’s a beautiful red sunrise here but I can’t get a decent photo unlike grandMattie
I changed over my duvet to a heavier one yesterday, slept very well! I was absolutely exhausted and in bed by 6 last night. I didn’t know what to do with myself by mid afternoon, very odd feeling for me. It wasn’t as if I did much, just changed the bed and kept out of the way of the cleaner 🤷🏼‍♀️
Absolutely nothing happening today except for an Ocado delivery late morning.
Pizza for dinner, salad and home grown tomatoes I think.
Best wishes to all x
🌹

latedecember1963 Thu 10-Sept-26 06:57:49

Gorgeous photo, GrandMattie. The scaffolding adds an extra dimension to the composition! 🤣

Take it steady, RosesandLilac. You are only a few weeks post op!

Good morning from sunny Greece. My sister arrived yesterday although her flight was diverted for refuelling.

I slipped getting out of the pool, but no serious damage apart from a sore bum, ankle and my pride.

We are now five family members and had a delicious inexpensive meal on the quayside last night with lots of laughs. The temperature was just perfect .

Around the pool today and DS still struggling with his cold, unfortunate timing. He’s asked me to stop asking him how he is every two seconds..shows I care doesn’t it?

Sorry you had a bad night Mick and hope you feel more rested today R&L.

Greyduster Thu 10-Sept-26 07:05:49

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is cool and dry. I missed our sunrise this morning, grandMattie. Thankyou for yours.

Yesterday morning I had all the white guttering, downpipes and facias on the house cleaned. It hadn’t been done for some time and I was beginning to worry about it. The cleaner made a very good job of it - I’ve used him before but was told he had gone out of business - and though it was expensive (my roof has a strange configuration and so has extra bits that are difficult to access) it was worth it. He also cleaned the conservatory - a job DH always used to do.

Writers group yesterday afternoon went remarkably quickly. I did a bit of shopping afterward and came home.

GS is back from his final jaunt of the summer break and is coming here today for an overnight. I’ll bring him back with me after my walk this morning and he’ll do some gardening jobs for me. I like to make him sing for his supper😁! He’ll be going back to uni very soon.

Have the best day you can folks.

Ashcombe Thu 10-Sept-26 07:07:20

Good morning from an overcast Torbay.

Despite a poor night, I shall have to get up and get on because I am catching the train to Stafford where my DS will meet me so that I can watch my DGS3 in a play this evening in Rugeley. I shall miss the company of DH who is still in France. The good news is, he’s managed to find a plumber to attend today.

The sad news is I have had to cancel our short break in Guernsey booked for next week because DH is unlikely to get here in time now. Some things are just not meant to be.

Wishing everyone a good day. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Melanie61 Thu 10-Sept-26 07:14:16

Good morning from Haverfordwest
It looks like being a drizzly day today. We were hoping to go on a cycle ride today but not if it’s raining. I’m not that dedicated.
We shall go to St David’s instead and have a look about.
Yesterday we sunbathed on Manorbier beach all afternoon, glorious.
Take care everyone flowers

ginny Thu 10-Sept-26 07:15:03

Good morning . I think the sun is trying to get through the clouds. No idea of the forecast but as I shall be inside nearly all day I won’t worry.
Jason Manfords show last evening was really good. Funny , a little bit rude but nothing really smutty.
Busy day today now all the term time act are in full swing. Art class this morning then on to sewing club followed by choir this evening.
Wishing all a good day .

madeleine45 Thu 10-Sept-26 07:15:20

Good morning Michael and all GN's from a very still , grey morning in North Yorkshire. Not starting in a very good way today , from all sides. I had quite a kerfuffle getting on to Gransnet and hope they can take down the rubbish soon.

Life here still seems to be battling on and still struggling to even catch up with things never mind doing well. I have been struggling on many different fronts and yesterday was glad to think that the cleaners would be here today, and had definite plans for what I wanted them to do, to try to put me back into a better state. I also had quite a bit I needed doing in the garden and they have a friend who I have met before, and I sent them a text and asked if she was free to come with them so that she could do an hour for me in the garden. That way I would at least not be so frustrated about the things needing doing and she would earn some money. Came back from whist to a text to say that no only the gardening lady was not free but that one of the cleaners was ill and so basically I have no one coming today!!! My motto seems so apt these days . It goes like this " Cheer up " they said " it could be worse" so I cheered up and it was!!!!

Well , I still have not even caught up with reading posts , and whatever I have been doing always seems to take twice as long as normal etc. I did manage to finally make a couple of decent meals from some mince, so that at least today , I will only have to do some potatoes and have some sweetcorn to have first and so when I get back shattered and weary, I will have something to look forward to and hope that will improve the day.

I was very slowly plodding through jobs , but did get the washing out very early, as I had put iton at 1am and so ready to go out early. Plodded along , catching up on jobs, putting things back where they really belonged, and beginning to see some improvements . Still cannot find several important documents , which is not like me, and I am so annoyed with myself, as I had been through some files, which is where they should be, and felt obliged to go through one lot a second time. Of course it wasnt there , but exasperated as to where I could have put it, and of course , living alone no one else to blame!! Had letter and email from electricity people and I know I need to go through and work out which is best option for me , but I just am not in the mood to deal with it. At the moment everyday life is a hassle without adding more stress.

Then had to go out for several things and went on the trusty yellow peril. It was working well and a good job it has good springs. The wretched roads and paths seemed worse than usual, and I intend today to put a rocket up the wretched council. The other day the nearby road was shut while the road people came and supposedly sorted out the appalling mess. Huh! then have made patches on the worst area, not left it even, loose gravel and bumpy where they have made no effort to roller it and make it even, and already in less than a week there is a pothole coming again!!! I am furious at the slapdash and poor job they are making of it and it is clear that it will be as bad as it was before if this is what they call relaid. At the moment every bump hurts my back and inevitably I come home in more pain than I left. It is ludicrous that I actually find it less painful to go in the car to another town than struggle round here , which should be more ecologically sound as I can use the buggy, save fuel and miles and support local business. If I was a shopkeeper I would be angry at the rates etc when I know I am losing business. Also when people go elsewhere whilst roadworks are happening they may not come back. Anyway a generally horrid day continued only cheered by the thought of going to whist, enjoying a game, and hopefully taking my mind off aches and pains and having a good chat.

It was a good evening , with one or two complicated games, where I was pleased with my handling of the hands, making a couple of tricks by clever play, which is very good when you know it is your play that has made you those tricks. So a very nice evening, apart from my back generally hurting more and more and it was a struggle to concentrate in the second half, However I did win 6 beautiful brown free range eggs, which I think today I will be glad to have a "boiled egg and soldiers" for my lunch. As a little girl, that was a comforting meal if I wasnt well or was upset about something. Have always been very involved and aware of art, colour etc. and loved the sight of a dark brown egg sat in a white eggcup. It is a connection through the years with comfort and my lovely granny who had her poultry. The simple pleasure I got at looking at the basket of eggs, with bantams and ducks eggs alongside the hens . a beautiful range of colours and my favourite was the beautiful speckled dark brown egg from the minorca chicken I think. So lovely to look at these eggs and be transported to the henhouse and picking beautiful warm eggs out of the nesting boxes. Despite my back hurting I had been thinking of memories of my granny on the way home and then down to earth with a bump, of no cleaners today.

Ah well I shall just do what I can and then for once find something a bit smarter than usual, as our womens group are meeting in a quite newly refurbished hotel for coffee. I havent been there before, so it will be a good chance to firstly see how their entrances etc are for disabled people. I have seen an arrow showing the entrance for disbled, round a corner, so I shall have a legitimate excuse to have a nosy around. It looks as though it is going to be a sunny dry autumny day so am going to go on the yellow peril and get a llittle fresh air. Wont need to rush back as no cleaners. I will call in to the surgery on my way back. The physio said that he would refer me to the specialist, and I have had a text in vague terms asking me to book on line for an appointment, but as the stupid thing does not actually say who with, what about or who had referred me I am not just assuming that is what it is so will be polite, but say that I am not prepared to do the equivalent of signing a blank cheque, when it doesnt even say the department or hospital it is coming from.

So I do hope that the weekend might be sunny. I feel in desperate need of getting out to the countryside or the coast, The price of petrol has gone up dreadfully , last lot I bought was 160 per litre, but right now I am in no mood to think about that compared to my desperate need to let the beauty and calm of the countryside cheer me up.

No idea what I will actually be doing after the coffee morning, hopefully I might feel a bit better and ready to actually do something on purpose. Right now , whatever get up and go I had has definitely left the country! I shall get the local paper on my way to the coffee morning and if it stays sunny I might venture to the park on the yp and make the most of the good weather - whilst putting off the sight of jobs waiting to be done at home.

Hope you have a good trip today Mike and that the weather is good for the event. Good luck today with Teflon man GrandMattie. I think you should have a word with all of your group going to the meeting and then as he introduces the lady, all take out notebooks and pens and hold up phones etc to record the proceedings as she stands up. That should give a message that you are not to be trifled with!! Anyway think of Jerusalem and "bring me my bow of burning gold" or have a go at Brunnhilde and the valkerie maidens !! Wish I could transport myself via the Tardis to join you all !!Bellasnana could you send me some of your sunshine, I could do with it today! We used to get a horrible humid time about the end of July in Portugal and even if you went at 6am to the market , you could arrive home with the milk having curdled already
Marzipan, here they have just started putting Downton abbey on about 10pm but havent yet checked the channel. It is very pleasing for me, as it stops me thinking of annoying and irritating problems and I do love the very good acting of them all but especially Maggie Smith with her marvelous quote s of "a weekend? what is a weekend?" and the great reply to Penelope Wilton s question of what shall we call each other? as " Well I am Lady Grantham and you will be Mrs Crawley" in such a way as you see the lines drawn up for the future, so much better to go to bed with a smile than unfortunately catching the maniac Trump or Farage on the news. enough to send you fuming to bed!

Well I have been cheered with my lovely Bach before 7 and then some Kreisler, and time to hobble into the kitchen for some much needed coffee. Oh never mind the artificial intellegence , where is the genius who can invent the human version of WD40? Enjoy your day everyone and good luck with plans and ventures

harrigran Thu 10-Sept-26 07:15:54

Good morning from the NE where it is dry and 9°.
Yesterday's dental appointment didn't go well, she made another appointment for next month.

Local Councillor put a letter through the door regarding the house opposite me which is in bad repair. They say they have written to the owner but there is nothing else they can do unless there is a problem with vermin 🤔

Nothing planned for today so will do some admin and tidy the study.
Have a good day.

Redcar Thu 10-Sept-26 07:24:07

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Dry and bright here today, and slightly warmer than yesterday.
Yoga was good yesterday and I was able to stand straighter afterwards. I did a little gardening in the afternoon, then put some things together ready for my day’s dog and child minding today.
I’ll take some dusters with me to DD1’s, I’ll clean the window ledges where the windows have been open all summer. I’ll do mine tomorrow!

risesandlilac changing the bedclothes is quite energetic! Take things easy today.

hollysteers I hope you’re not feeling too bruised after your slip yesterday.

grandmattie hopefully your meeting with Teflon will be informative and useful.

ash sorry that your DH isn’t able to join you yet, have a good journey to Rugeley.

Thinking of those who are poorly and hoping for some improvement for you soon. Safe travels for those on the move today, and happy holidays if you’re away!

Have the best day you can everyone,

monk08 Thu 10-Sept-26 07:27:41

Good morning all from the Black country dry at the moment but more rain expected.
Yesterday's toddlers was busy and we were 3 short with the helpers, hence I came home and fell asleep having had an early start.
Today I shall go into town I want a new kettle think mine is on the way out and I do like to keep a spare.
Out with friends later.
Safe travels Ashcombe shame you've had to cancel Guersney.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans 😎.

Gingster Thu 10-Sept-26 07:32:00

Good morning all .

Yesterday was sociable with coffee with my friend and then lunch with another friend. It’s so good to chat as Dh has little to say and doesn’t like a lot of talk from me. I think it messes with his brain. I’m a chatterer, so it’s nice to meet up with pals who don’t mind me prattling on.

Today I must make some phone calls confirming dates and booking a day out to Jimmys Farm in half term with Dd and DGD.

DIL will pick me up before 9 and we’ll drop little pooch off at the groomers before we do a big shop at Sainsburys. She’ll tell me all about the girls and their doings . We don’t see much of the older grandchildren as they’re ‘ living their best lives’. Just as it should be and makes me happy.

I hope you all have a good day.
Trouble free journeys and lovely holidays.
Thoughts to those feeling under par and struggling with this and that. One step at a time. 🌻

Gagagran Thu 10-Sept-26 07:42:54

Good Morning everyone from a 13 degrees but sunny central south coast. I felt cold in bed despite a fleecy blanket on top of the summer duvet so need to dig out the winter weight one, I think.
No doubt we will then get another heat wave to roast me in bed!

It's WI this afternoon and I haven't been for the last three meetings due to my injuries from the rose bed fall. It will be lovely to see old friends there. The speaker is a local auctioneer who will identify (and value, I expect) the portable antiques we are asked to take along. Should be interesting.

Hope all our GNs with struggles or worries of any kind have some relief today and anyone travelling has a safe and hassle free journey. Good Luck with Mr Teflon GM!

Gelisa Thu 10-Sept-26 07:49:53

Good morning from a cloudy Morecambe Bay. More rain is forecast for later when I was hoping to get in the garden while CDog is out with the dog walker. We are just back from camping for a couple of nights but it was mainly business not pleasure as I had a funeral to attend. I didn’t really know the deceased but went to support her mother.
Last night I went for my first ballet class. The bar work was ok but I didn’t cope well with the warm up which involved line dancing. I never ever dance having no sense of rhythm and I just clam up making things even worse. However, I will persevere, well I’ll give it six weeks anyway. Most people will think me strange but it’s a real challenge for me!
Back into routine this morning and off to the woods. Take care. 🌸

brook2704 Thu 10-Sept-26 07:50:01

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve grey clouds and rain is forecast
Such a shame your plans have had to change Ash, I hope your DH can travel soon
After a busy day yesterday I’ve a much quieter day ahead, DH is out at the men’s shed group this morning, I think there’s a talk about Orkney so he’s looking forward to that. I’m looking forward to a lazy morning not doing very much
Take care holly it’s so easy to slip around water, enjoy your holiday and everyone else away just now
Hope everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

EkwaNimitee Thu 10-Sept-26 07:52:41

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey Carlisle.

Yesterday morning I pottered about, got some of the shoe pile in my tidied utility room sorted which included chucking a pair of ankle boots out as the soles were disintegrating. I then got the ironing done, lunched and then went into town for the organ recital at the cathedral. All unknown composers and music to me but I like to get acquainted with new things. The organist is excellent and literally pulled all the stops out at times...the whole place seemed to vibrate.
Which may partly account for waking early with a bad head...I had to go down for paracetamol. Currently it's improved and I hope it stays that way as I have a hair appointment. I'll be glad of a good prune, suddenly I look like a wild woman from the woods!
Later, it's back to the dentist with the fallen out yet again crown. I suspect serious, expensive decisions will have to be made.
Home to my new book, an interesting tome on the life of Hildegard of Bingen. What a woman! A polymath and seriously good composer from the 12th century. I heard some of her music recently and thought I should find out more about her.
After 800 years, she was fairly recently made a saint.

Madeleine, what a time you are having! I hope life gets better for you on several fronts. Best wishes!
