Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where the latest news on the wildlife on Dunwich Heath seems a bit more positive. Although we haven’t seen or smelt smoke here,friends in Southwold and further north up the coast smelt smoke yesterday.

The news about Minsmere is distressing especially since it has unique habitats and is,in normal circumstances,such a welcoming place to visit.

The beach at Dunwich is a favourite place for us for walking the dog and then having coffee in the Flora tearooms or meeting DS and his tribe for brunch or fish and chips at lunchtime. Whilst feeling so sorry for the locals in the area and businesses we feel sad at the loss for us of a place as we know it that we have just taken for granted.

Apart from DH doing a run to the tip today will be a quiet one,anxiously watching the news and keeping cool.

Good morning all. I’m sitting with the windows open and delicious cool air is wafting over me. We had no rain last evening GG and we’re only a few miles away from you. I would have sat out in it.

Yesterday was busy, groomers, bank, Specsavers audio to pick up DH’s hearing aid, shopping and phone calls re house sale.

Our cottage is only a couple of miles away from the devastating Dunwich Heath fire, along the coast. Absolutely heartbreaking!
Such a beautiful area with so much wild life. What has become of it all 😢. I’ll phone my neighbour later to see how they’re faring.
We exchanged contracts on Wednesday and house clearance yesterday. I expect our buyers are on tenterhooks. Watching from afar. The worry is the Power Station.

Today ds1 will pick me up and we’ll go to the bank together and take books to the charity shop. I have no way of taking them now I’m not driving and they’re so heavy. He’s had this week off work and been very helpful (as usual) but I hate to dig into his holiday time. I don’t ask but he insists. ❤️.

DGS is still asleep, long gone are the days he’d creep into our bed about 6am! We had a lovely day yesterday, he absolutely adores their puppy, lots of cuddles and they spent ages playing in the garden. It was lovely to see them together More of the same today I expect plus numerous board games which he still really enjoys playing

Tesco coming pm today, annoyingly most of their yoghurts are unavailable, chiller problems again? I might ring them.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather cloudy Carlisle. It doesn't rain though however black the clouds get! I'm back to watering.

Yesterday I tackled little jobs off my long list, I don't know why I keep putting them off, they were readily done. I feel pleased with myself afterwards, perhaps I should do it more often...
Then it was out in the garden, putting down a sack of shingle in a small area I've re-jigged. It's too dry to consider digging holes for the new plants waiting to go in so, apart from deadheading, and watering, there's little to do.

Today I will go into town shortly to collect my M&S order, visit their food hall and get my latest prescription from Boots.
Home to whatever little job takes my fancy and a leisurely afternoon of reading.

I hope that ankle is rapidly back to normal grandMattie, best wishes.

Good morning from a cool Sunnyside northwest coast.
Apart from the usual house stuff yesterday, I enjoyed some time watercolour painting. I’ve cleared my dining room table of art materials and arranged them on the desk in my DS’s bedroom which he uses on his visits.

I watched a marvellous J.B.Priestley play, Dangerous Corner, on YouTube last night from 1983 and I’m enjoying catching up on them.

A big shop this morning and DD arrives from the south tomorrow.

Yesterday's white goods delivery went well. The installers thanked us for a hassle free delivery, we had ensured, everything was cleared out of the large utility room. It is had a table etc to be moved.

My heart was in my mouth, there was only a clearance space of 1 cm on either side. They fitted perfectly.
However, it wouldn't be me, if there wasn't some drama.😉
No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't deactivate the child lock and consequently, we couldn't unlock the door.
Two hours later, having read the manual many times, watched umpteen, You Tube videos, Googled it and used ChatGPT, we were no further forward. 🤬

Then I had a brainwave, I remembered from my IT days, that removing a piece of IT equipment from the mains and waiting for a bit, discharges the electrical charge and resets the electronics.
Combined with a tip, I found online, we had success!
DH, who had given up and returned to his Suduko, was greatly impressed!
I do love a challenge. 😂

When I phoned the dentist to explain my predicament, they were so kind. Ten minutes later, I received a call, asking me to come down in the afternoon, due to my complicated health issues.
Unfortunately, although no decay present, what's left of the broken tooth, which is very close to the gum, will have to come out. Another crown is not viable, due to the fear of infection.
It is going to be tricky and will require dental hospital hospital involvement.
It never trains, but it pours!

There is a positive; the crown was causing a lisp. Paired with my permanent hoarseness, one could hardly hear, what I was saying and ombined with DH's deafness which is getting increasingly worse chaos reigned.😉
I blame all the years of him listening to excessively loud, heavy metal music in his purple and black bedroom. 🥁🎸

We are anxiously awaiting for news of our friend, who was in hospital in Spain. He flew home from last night, but had to attend hospital on arrival.
My poor friend, his wife, is exhausted, dealing with everything.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's bright and cool. It was really cold in the night.

I have a physio appointment this morning so it's a month since the first one. I wish my back was better but it's only a tiny bit less painful despite exercising daily, chiropractor weekly and medication. 😞

The roofers will come soon for a 3rd day on my roof.

My friends came yesterday and we filled another dozen or so boxes of books destined for the charity sale, including loads of recipe books. I can't see myself making Danish pastries ever again.

Poor you gMattie I hope your ankle heals quickly.

I go to a podiatrist since before my hip replacement Ash .Money well spent. My feet are grateful.

I've sent DH downstairs to deal with it, as his pants are nicer than mine.

Tomatoes are ripening slowly , cucumbers are forming , peppers are in flower , I think my greenhouse prefers the cooler nights ,
Yesterday I felt poorly so was in bed by 10pm , feel great this morning, thank goodness ,
I’ve cut back on watering the pots o the patio , my shoulder was protesting even with smaller cans , I’ve been catching the cold water that comes before the hot in the shower in a bucket , it does a few pots

The children had such fun running around Holyrood Park yesterday. There are huge expanses of grass where they can run and jump and chase each other to their hearts’ content, watching them fills my heart and soul.

Having said that, we were exhausted by the time we got home so today will be very much quieter.

It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of July already, our school summer holiday is over halfway through, I wish we could slow down time just a little bit.

I have just spoken to our eldest GS, he is 18 today. The family are going to Battersea for shopping and lunch at his favourite London restaurant.

He is looking forward to legally buying his mum and dad a beer and wine at lunchtime, and has his passport in his pocket ready as ID 🥰

DD3s Father in Law was featured on the news re. the Suffolk fires. They were evacuated from their holiday mobile home.
Today I have been up to feed The cats , talk about eat and run ! You may just make out a tail of one disappearing , the other did at least wait for a quick tickle before he left.
A few jobs to do this morning. This after I am going to a local nursery to see a transplanted border that won Bronze at the Sandringham Show , part of a small garden exhibit. One of our WI committee members was involved so very pleased for her.

Friday is my day off again, so I'm back in my favourite cafe with a Full English and a mug of tea.

I've decided to rearrange the furniture in my bedroom and living room! It's not something I do regularly; the last time was about 10 years ago, where I lived before! So I'll get on to that sometime today!

Last night I watched, among other things, YouTube's The Hidden Female Gladiators Who Fought In Rome's Arenas. Amazon, Achillia and Verecunda were 3 of the ladies who fought as hard as hard as the men.
