Do people still stamp their feet in anger?

Re-reading Agatha Christie, I cannot help noticing some of the changes that have occurred in our daily lives, since she wrote her first books.

One small detail: a nicely brought up young girl actually stamps her foot upon being annoyed by something said to her.

This made me wonder, if anyone actually does this any more?

To the best of my knowledge and belief I have never seen anyone do so (apart perhaps from two year olds in tantrums).

I have certainly never dared do it, after being reproved at the age of four or five by my mother, who said, "Don't stamp your foot at me, young woman!" in a tone of voice that clearly warned me that the next time I did so, I would be sent to bed without my dinner!

So, the question is, does anyone actually do this now, or would it be totally unacceptable adult behaviour?

That’s a good question. I don’t actually think anyone does it now. Funny how something so simple could die out.

Reminds me of once seeing my granddaughter jumping for joy because she had come to visit me and something nice was going to happen. I'm sure children still do that a lot.

I don’t think I have ever seen anyone stamp their feet in anger or shake their fists which is also often mentioned in older novels.
Perhaps people just swear more now instead.

Sometimes they do worse things like physical assault or violent actions like throwing things.

I saw a video of a baby skunk. It was furious! So funny when it stamped it's little feet.

I actually stamped just one foot yesterday, it felt good, quite liberating…

I did a couple of warning stamps, then a little dance type of stamp, with both feet (and no gin)

I seem to recall one of more of my dgc stamping their feet with anger as toddlers, but haven't seen any adults do it

I recommend it.
No naughty words, no family fall outs or walking on eggshells for ten years after the event, and it feels surprisingly good.

I think it's an out of the blue happening though; you couldn't plan it, or schedule it in your diary for some future date. smile

I haven't done it for years, but I do stamp my feet (sometimes accompanied by a naughty word) when I'm very cross.

My DD had a female rabbit who was very bad tempered. She used to thump with one of her back legs, just like the rabbit in 'Bambi'.(The rabbit not my DD)

Just a random thought. Do people still just tap their foot in time to a song or tune or are they more inclined to move with music these days?
