Problem with courier from Amazon.

Does anyone know what I do, when the courier (EVRI) sends me an email to say:
'They've tried to deliver my package but there was an issue'

- and their answer on their phone number (when I finally found the number and put in the right reference) was:
'It's been delivered'.

No it hasn't. It's taken me two hours to find all this and several internet sites. It is NOT here.
I have put a notice on my door specifically for them; to say
RING THE BELL
Apart from that I'm stumped.

Contact Amazon. Their customer services are really good. And your contract is with the vendor - in this case Amazon.

If they're saying it's been delivered, ask for proof. As it's EVRI, it's usually a photograph taken by the driver. If they can't provide proof of delivery, raise an official complaint with them regarding a missing parcel.

'They've tried to deliver my package but there was an issue' will have been logged by the driver. But that clashes with Amazon saying it's been delivered.

Reasons it is missing include:

It's back in the warehouse, the driver took it, a member of the public took it, or it was delivered to another address.

You need proof of delivery as they say it's delivered. If not, a missing parcel complaint needs raising.

Any subsequent investigation should include a conversation with the driver concerned.

To clarify, is it Amazon or EVRI who say it's been delivered?

I've had the same issue several times recently.
I contacted Amazon and dealt with their AI assistant; just repeating that i wanted a refund.
It was then passed to a real person, where i carried on requesting a refund.
Eventually, they gave in, and refunded me.

I had to be very persistant, though.

Evri generally are really really rubbish. I try to check who is delivering my Amazon stuff and if it’s Evri, I will go to another seller….

I ordered a mop and bucket from Amazon and I received a small package containing a load of expensive makeup from John Lewis (clearly not a mop and bucket) which Evri photographed outside my front door. A label with my name and address had clearly been stuck over the name and address of the proper recipient.

I wasted loads of my limited time on earth trying to sort it out, only to end up returning the makeup to John Lewis and not receiving a refund for the mop and bucket which nobody would admit had not been delivered to me. I had even offered to send the makeup to Amazon but they said that would only complicate matters.

Both Amazon and Evri were adamant that my mop and bucket had been delivered, despite the discrepancy in the size and shape of the parcel in the photograph. Amazon would only issue a refund if I sent the mop and bucket back to them.

It's best if you take a photo of an incorrect delivery to forward to Amazon. You have already told them the mop and bucket was never received. Persist and you should get a refund. It's sort of irrelevant that you received something else from John Lewis as Amazon won't have wanted that returned to them, as you found out. So frustrating but they shouldn't get away with it.

Yes, I need to go back to Amazon... will do.

I have, I managed to get a phone call back, and the man (very faint and with an accent, but that's usual) called EVRI with me on hold.
The clue was that the courier said the door was inaccessible... so I told him to pass on that they'd come to the wrong door!
(My side door is a mess and the package that hasn't arrived is supposed to be part of the solution!)
Thanks for comments.

I had a problem with a delivery from M&S at Christmas. Both M&S and EVRI assured me in many phone calls that my order had been delivered, but it had not. Eventually, after 11 days, the parcel arrived. No explanation was ever given.

I’m surprised that any reputable company uses Evri for its deliveries - they are known to be unreliable. On this occasion I found M&S as chaotic as Evri.

Perhaps leave it until tomorrow afternoon, and contact amazon again, and ask for a refund.
Don't let the trail go cold.

Zooplus have lost my business of about £1000 a year because Evri have lost one too many parcels. Poor dogs are having to get used to another food as Zooplus are the only suppliers of their usual food.

"Alie2Oxon", you've referred to both Amazon and EVRI in your posts. Are you having problems with both?

Our delivery guys are all fantastic Perhaps there are advantages of living in the back end of nowhere

Alie2Oxon Sun 26-Jul-26 18:30:47

I had to be straightened out on who was responsible!

I don’t think it makes much difference..… We’re also very rural. But we only have problems with Evri. All other deliveries are fine, especially Royal Mail.

I was given a date of 20th July for an air cooler I ordered from Amazon to be delivered by Evrie. The tracking kept telling me it had left the courier but no sign of it. Yesterday it said they had no date for a delivery but would inform me if that changed. I messaged Evrie and a robot answered me. He said I couldn’t have a refund by Amazons A to Z guarantee as it could still be delivered. So decided to wait in case it turned up. Noticed the cooler was now £20 more than when I ordered it. Wondering if they hope to get a reorder.Probably not as I expect they are running a less than competent business. I hadn’t realised who was going to deliver. Won’t make a mistake again.

Reviews re Evri are pretty bad! Last year I recall they were voted the worst of them all. They did say they aim to improve.

Aveline Sun 26-Jul-26 20:14:31

Oh no. Just after reading this I had an email to say that 'Evri had my parcel' 🙁
Goodness knows when it'll arrive - if it arrives!
