Good Morning Tuesday 21st July 2026

Good morning from a dry, clear Bristol. Oh, we so need rain - but at this time of year, the farmers are harvesting and wouldn’t want it.
My busy day yesterday went ok. I did manage to wash my floors, which badly needed it. I do wash them every week!
The talk at the Women’s Association was very interesting. A retired detective talked about his nearly 3 year involvement in trying to trace a serial killer when a rookie. The said murderer had killed a local woman amongst others. Suzy Lamplough was believed but never proved to be another of his victims.
The evening was a PCC meeting and was spent discussing the forthcoming interregnum, when our PP retires after 25 years in this parish. It seems to be called “vacancy” here. My goodness, the hoops that need to be jumped through! I got home late and very tired.
Today, I’ve been invited to dinner with DD and family as it’s SiL’s birthday. DS’s birthday is on Monday, so I suspect he’ll be celebrated too, but I’m not really party to any plan.
I may go shopping for some nice sandals, and fabric for a new quilt…

Good morning from Malta where the heatwave continues. It’s already nearly 30°C which is today’s forecast low, the high being 41°C (real feel 45°c)

Apart from hanging out the washing yesterday I stayed indoors with the fan on and my feet raised. Thank goodness the swelling has gone down now.

I have a bit of ironing to do today then a hair appointment at 9.30am which I am in dire need of!

I’m not sure if I shall go to the post office to collect the parcel. I will see how it is outside first.

I was pleased my plants had survived, the ones in the paddling pool had positively flourished! Unlike some of you on here, I don’t have green fingers so am always relieved when I don’t kill my poor plants off.

By the way, I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it before and, if so apologies, but I add electrolytes to my water once or twice a day and it really does seem to help when it’s extremely hot.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cool, grey South Yorkshire. Still no rain in the forecast.

Yesterday morning I went out early to do a walk around the larger of two local country parks thinking that, at that time, it would not be busy. It’s a very short drive from my house. The car park was full, and there was no space on the nearby roads so I came home and did a walk along the river instead. I’ve never done this walk on my own and there wasn’t a soul about for most of it, which was a bit disconcerting. It became very hot towards the end.

Today I have a chiropractor appointment and then I will pick GS up and bring him back here to help me with some gardening jobs.

The Dentist put my mind at rest with my tooth . She said it was healing very nicely and the pain does seem to have subsided somewhat this morning.
I have a lovely lady that comes to give me a massage once a month in my home at lunchtime.
Then I have a WI meeting this evening. We are having a talk and demonstration about first aid, which I’m also looking forward to

Good morning from very dry s somerset

Yesterday was tricky and I spent the whole day repairing a perfect fit blind on my French door. It is cellular and started to roll itself down. Broken cord. I fixed it two years ago but obviously did not find the cause

The cord fits in crossovers and goes through tiny holes. In process I had to strip the fitting and stabbed my finger twice, one was nasty and I quickly shoved on a hydrocolloid dressing, my first use of one and marvelous too. The metal ends are crude, rough and dangerous

I found the cause, the round hole in the strip, the other hole has cord protection. It was just a crude rough metal hole. I remembered the plastic granules I bought from qvc in the 90s. You can melt them and form whatever. I did that and repaired the hole, using my fingers and a dowel. That area is now safe for new cord

The little rollers on toothpicks were gouged, I fixed them with epoxy resin, a messy job. Each roller fits into the tiny holders in the carpet picture. I had to wait 24 hours for the resin to cure. The blind is now up and working. I remember two years ago, managed to buy extra cord then but no-one fixes and replaces cord in a 7` blind like this. Too fiddly for any professional

I couldn`t go to craft group and I ate ice cream, through stress but slept well. It took lots of effort and mind puzzles to fit it all back together again, like a jigsaw

Anyway it is done and thanks to rosesandLilacs the dressing did its job and my wound is safe

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and sunny. Bellasnana those temperatures would see me off! GrandMattie enjoy time with your family.
Yesterday the boys were very pleased to see me and there were lots of cuddles. After I dropped off dgs1 at football camp, dgs2 and I came home. I filled a basin with soapy water and let him loose on the wrought iron railings at the kitchen door. He had fun. Then he turned my bedside table into a house for Bluey- a favourite show of his. I made him soup for lunch and he had 2 big bowls. He then made potions in my bathroom sink and washed his doll. I picked up dgs1 and brought him back to my house for an hour. He was very sweaty and filthy! I offered him a cool shower but he was unimpressed by that. 😂
Dd seemed a bit better when I took them home. I brought her some soup which she managed to eat.
Today will be a repeat of yesterday. Football camp for dgs1 and playing for dgs2. He likes an audience so it's interspersed with, "Look grandma!" Or "Come and see grandma!" Hes turned into a really sweet wee boy after being such a difficult toddler. Have a good day all.

Good morning from the NE Mids where we have patchy clouds and no breeze, I’ve not ventured into the back garden yet so I’ve no idea on the temperature.
Food shopping this morning, not one of my favourite tasks to be fair as the order pickers in the supermarket are a law unto themselves! They have an annoying habit of standing three abreast with their humongous trollies chatting away and no one else can get by!
I’ve begun to cure our onion crop now, all those with collapsed necks had already been eased out of the earth and are now upside down on a crude but functional racking system. I shall watch for more necks collapsing so completely harvest the crop which shouldn’t take much longer now.

Good morning from sunny south Glos, harvesting is in full swing around here, combines working well into the night.
It’s certainly looking like the second summer of droughts, no signs of rain well into August so I’m hoping for summer thunderstorms. Everything is parched, the lawns are brown.
Blackberries are ripening fast, very early but they’ll be in a lovely summer pudding soon!
I’m off for a coffee at a friend’s this morning, I need to go to the post office on my way to return three purchases that don’t suit me just as well because I really have too many clothes already!
I recommend hydrocolloid plasters to everyone Karmalady, a must in the first aid box. I think they reduce scarring too.

Good morning from a warm start in Torbay.

We had a good journey home with our usual break at Dorchester McDonald's (we know how to live!) All was fine at my flat and I was out to a rehearsal in the evening. Afterwards there was some drama with a neighbour who had fallen out with her son and it ended with the police being called. They were actually very supportive but we had a late night which wasn't helpful.

Today my newish car has to go back to the dealer due to a recall. Before that an early Asda delivery so a busy start to our first day home.

Good morning from a grey, overcast Durham. I’m worn out with my current unpredictable sleep pattern.
Another dental appointment at 10, then home to await the burglar alarm person. I fear my system is obsolete and needs replacing - at what cost. The Solicitor has also sent me an invoice, in advance of drawing up my new Will - daylight robbery, at least Dick Turpin had the grace to wear a mask! Such a lot of expenses in the pipeline.
I noticed the Rowan trees have ripe berries already here - I hope that’s not a sign of a harsh Winter to come.

I felt a bit more normal yesterday than I have done since my fall and DH even said to me that I was looking better than I had done since then. He usually doesn't notice how I am unless catering services cease or are delayed so I must have improved!

Good morning from Cornwall where a lovely cool breeze is wafting across my bed from the patio. I'll wander out there in a few minutes. Yesterday was back-to-back sewing in an attempt to finish my big denim project.

I had brunch in Wetherspoons and took my sewing with me and sat in a delightful cubicle listening to Borrowbox on my headphones as I hand-stitched the edges of a waistcoat. An incredibly vociferous group of people was nearby, severely disabled adults with their carers, all in wheelchairs and being spoon fed, having so much fun, calling out and laughing. Their fun was infectious. They're regular visitors to Wetherspoons.

Today I need to venture up to my wild wood to deal with some overhanging branches which seem dead. I can look across the rooftops to the river from up there and it's wonderfully shady in the hot weather. I may take my sewing with me.

Good morning all from a bright but cloudy North Leicestershire.

Last choir today until September and we are all taking nibbles for an end of term 'party'.

Yesterday's Carer Learning session was emotionally charged. In week 4 we look at a case study chosen by attendees. They chose repetitive behaviour and a lot of tears were shed as they recounted their experiences. Hopefully they will take away some useful strategies from each other and us. I was exhausted when I got home so can only imagine how they felt.

My kindle tablet has a mind of its own just now! To continue...

We were in Liverpool for the ruby wedding celebrations of late DH's cousins, which were spread over three days.

Friday night was a drinks get-together in Sefton park; afternoon tea in their garden on Saturday, followed by party night at the local cricket club, dancing to a Congolese/Cuban band with a buffet of Lancashire hotpot and curry, then picnic in the park on Sunday afternoon. It was so good to meet up with that side of the family again; we were at their wedding in 1986 (when DD was 3 years old!) and also at their silver wedding party in 2011.

And around all that DD, DS-in-law and I managed to fit in a weekend of sight-seeing - photos with the Beatles statue, two open-top bus tours, the Beatles museum, Cavern club, saw John Lennon's house, walked along the waterfront and around Albert Dock where we had a delicious open-air meal and cocktails. Barely had time to sit down! Luckily the weather was very kind to us as well.

So I had a gentle day at home yesterday, and gave the early yoga class a miss. Unpacked, did some washing, and changed the bed, and then the cats were delivered back from the cattery late afternoon.

Will not be doing a lot today, and will give walking group a miss as a new gardener is coming. Hoping he can do a good tidy up of my garden.

Our plan today is a visit to a National Trust property about 45 minutes away. A wander around and some lunch. I hoping to buy some of their Passion fruit curd too.
Later my Sister in Law wants to look though some of my artwork and would like to have a go at a painting herself. Having been widowed and also losing her son in the last 18 months she is trying various hobbies with a mind to long winter evenings.

I’m picking up DGS from his mother this morning so we’ll be doing the same holiday routine we’ll do twice a week for the next seven weeks. DSs partner is picking him up at lunch to do their afternoon routine. After he goes I’ll go out for a walk.

We had a lovely couple of days with my sister and Brother in law. We had a lot of catching to do over food and wine. We enjoyed watching the World Cup final together. They visited my uncle in hospital. There have been no results from his CT scan yet.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, the cloud seems to be clearing already leaving blue sky again. No breeze this morning yet.
Yesterday I had my usual walk and met up with some dog walking friends. Two of them have dates for hip replacement operations in the next month, so won’t be out and about for a while. Dusted and vacuumed upstairs, then deadheaded some roses. My gardener is coming this morning, lots of pulling up of weeds and cutting back of brambles today I hope!
I’ll see my dementia friend this afternoon.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have white cloud cover (the Pennines are not visible) but it’s 14°C rising to 23°C again. Goody.

I’m meeting my golfing friend who lives in Chorlton. I like her company we get on so well. She’s kind, sensible and easy going. I’ll get the 23 bus over from outside Sainsbury’s. We have no plans so it might just be coffee or a wander in her town (lots of independents) and lunch. We will follow our noses.

Especially nice as the next 3 days be full on from 7:30am minding L’il Miss who breaks up from school today. If I couldn’t do it her mum would’ve booked her in with her lovely childminder at £90 a day.

I said I’d do it for half price …. 😂😂

Iceland shop today as its 10% day and a new community cafe has opened so may give it a try.
Out for a meal later the vouchers keep on coming and it would be rude not to use them, also it means I don't have to cook.

Good morning all. Nice and cool and a bit overcast here in Essex.

Last day of school for DGD and she’ll be going into year 6 in September. How did that happen.
After I picked her up from school , we went to a cafe round the corner and she had a green concoction (white chocolate Macha). All the rage apparently. It was on Dragons Den. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

She spent some time chilling in her room and after tea, we did some reading together (I love the books she reads) and then made book marks. A nice relaxed evening., Her mum facetimed before bed and I could hear her giggling, so all was well.

I won’t be able to go to Bridge this afternoon as I’ll pick her up from school and maybe take her home. We’ll see how everyone feels.

Dgs has left his car on our drive as he is off to Malta with FIFTEEN friends. Oh my!!! Watch out Bellasnanna. I’m not sure about that heat .🥵
His twin hasn’t gone with them. He’s rather a home bird and dislikes crowds..

I’ll shop with my trolley today locally just for essentials.

A bit of a disturbed night as a neighbours van alarm was going off. Looked outside, saw a shadowy figure but didn’t know what to do. The van is still there this morning so DH will have a quick look as they’re away on holiday just now. It’s a bit of a worry as it’s been broken into before and his valuable work tools stolen.
I’m off to the gym this morning for a couple of classes and then having coffee with a pal. I’ll get the bus home later after a quick look around the shops in town.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
