Good morning everyone from yet another hot Northampton day, not a cloud in the sky and it is 28°C in the hall, the coolest area of the house!

It was another quiet day in yesterday, interrupted only by a visit from the new gardener who came to inspect the garden; he has said he can do the work and wanted to come next Friday, but I shall be away then, so it looks like the following week.

I sat and read all afternoon and have only about 50 or so pages of my book left to read, and then I have a new pile waiting to choose from.

I tried, and failed, to change the landing light bulb - I could remove the dead bulb but just haven't got the arm reach to replace it; and I am wary of standing on anything at the top of the stairs and over- balancing..... shall have to wait for family, all taller than me!
I am thoroughly fed up with staying in...... I will see what tomorrow is like.

I did not feel like a curry last night but had a Waitrose Chicken Nasi Goreng in the fridge, so had that instead as I could just chuck it into the pan for a quick stir-fry.

Today will be more of the same, but will probably watch the rugby this afternoon.

Spicy pork steak (also from Waitrose!) for dinner tonight and will probably have sauteed new potatoes with it.

Happy anniversary Gagagran! 🍾💐

Belated happy anniversary gagagran
We have a very short cinematic film of our wedding and like you very few people appearing are still with us. Sad and happy memories all mixed up

Good morning from Durham, where it’s overcast, still and might reach 21c - to buck the trend, I love the sun and hotter temperatures and hope we haven’t seen the back of them. It’s been a hectic week of daily activities, so I’m hoping for a quiet weekend, although I expect to see DD2 and family at some point. I spent a lovely hour or two with DD1 and DGS1 in their garden yesterday evening after my nail appointment. DGS2 is a lovely boy and looking forward to attending a local summer camp during the holidays. Thinking of our mountaineers today, as well as those celebrating various events.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Stockport, it is like being abroad now, drawing the curtains back on a cloudless sky, 24 already here.
Yesterday was a miserable day for me, I felt unwell with the heat and very low in spirit.

Gagagran we were also 22and21 when we married, looking back we were so very young but it was the norm then.
We were married for 60 years and 7 months when my H died but I had lost him 10 years before to Dementia , it makes me very sad at times, tomorrow will be my 7th birthday without him.

I also have gardeners again now and after two visits they have made such a difference already, one more long visit and it will be 2 weekly maintenance visits, I wish I had done it sooner but my S was always going to step up and do it.

Another quiet day in a dark room looms, I hope you can all find a shady spot to enjoy.

Good morning from Anstruther where it is foggy.
Spent yesterday afternoon walking round Cambo Gardens, so peaceful and variation and colours of flowers were amazing. GDs took many photographs before we retired to the cool of the stables for refreshments. The menu was vegetarian, I had butternut squash soup.
We went to the beach afterwards and sat for an hour enjoying the breeze. The house we are staying in has no garden or outside space.
GDs want to play tennis so are going to buy tennis racquets, yesterday they got shoes for swimming in the tidal pool. I am guessing we will be taking a lot more home than we came with.

I am having a stay at home day so the rest of the family can go out in the smaller car, needs a run out as it has been parked up for a week.
Have a good weekend.

Good morning from Sunnyside northwest coast. I enjoyed the orchestral concert in the city, always very well attended, but sad to see my old friend’s Parkinson disease was progressing. He brought back some books I had leant to him and it’s a while since I last saw him.

Two things pleased me yesterday, my automatic garage door was fixed when I feared it might mean getting a new one and both the little rice crispy thing on my face and the largish mole under my arm proved to be benign. The tiny thing on my face seems to be shrinking too and is not noticeable.
Part of getting older seems to consist of moles etc, popping up all over the place…

A quiet day today preparing for my flying DDs arrival from the south tomorrow.
Congratulations Gagagran and thoughts to all🌺

I’m late on parade. The Spanish were so noisy and wild with excitement after winning at the ⚽️ last night! Klaxons, hooters, car horns you name it.

Anyway, good morning everybody from Málaga where once again we have 36°C. I plan a mooch up into Arroyo (I have a hat!) for coffee and to have a look at dresses in my new found boutique up there! Then late afternoon I will be glad of a dip in the pool and finish my book, it’s been very readable. I like novels set in Australia, in the outback.

Good morning from another hot and sunny Black Country.

Was up at 6am to do some housework whilst it was cooler.

DGD3 (17) passed her Driving Test yesterday on first attempt. She is really happy and relieved.

No real plans today as it’s so hot so I don’t feel like going out.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning Michael and all from a cool (15°), damp and misty Angus coast. We've had our two days of summer here it would seem. I loved it while it lasted! Am I even on the same planet as the rest of you?
Yesterday was such a lovely day and I just pottered around and enjoyed it. The red trapaeolum is giving a wonderful show as it climbs up through the dark green bushes, and I notice just now that the white jasmine is in flower today. But on the whole July is not my favourite month in the garden - give me May and June for that.
I'm sitting here at the moment thinking of all the things I should be doing today - and then realising I'm thinking of all the things I'm not going to do! I'm feeling decidedly unmotivated. That's what miserable grey skies do to you - don't wish your heatwave away too soon. And if you could waft just a little sun and blue sky in the direction of Angus .......
Enjoy your time in the warmth everyone and have a good day.

A very belated Good morning to Micheal and all GN's.

Despite all my ploys to keep cool a rotten night, and my back has been awful. I decided that as soon as I could manage it I would get out to the market and get fresh bread and some extra milk to be sure I wouldnt run out. It still took me quite a while to get myself ready, but mission accomplished and all necessary bits bought.

By the time I got back, felt shattered, so stuff for the fridge shoved in and then the rest left in the bag on the kitchen floor until I feel up to sorting it out. I have sprawled out for quite a while before I even had the energy to look to see what you have all been doing. Probably part of getting older is it takes a lot longer to recover from exertions!

Yesterday I had got quite a bit of shopping in and there was plenty in the fridge and freezer, but the heat meant I had no interest in either eating much or cooking. Had ideas of doing some sorting things and two non birthday posts were tv license and car tax demands. I couldnt even be bothered to do them, but on monday morning , they will be priority , and then I intend to go through documents like insurance stuff. I have always tended to do a check up around this time and find that time does seem to move faster and it is getting near time to renew things and do stuff like MOT. which I am always surprised that things are due, when it only seems that I dealt with them a couple of months ago.

My good intentions of doing any sorting out are at the moment being swapped for a very cold drink of water and a look at the paper. There is a little breeze, but only of very hot wind, and no sign of thunder or any rain. No doubt there will be a rush of getting jobs done for everyone at the first sign of any cool or rain.

Hope all you plans go well and that you can keep cool

Good Morning from a cool breezy Co Armagh , I’ve been out watering my fav plants ,
I managed to break off a wheel on my rollator , the one I use for rough terrain, and hauling stuff around on , my “tidy” one shed a bearing while on holiday , but at least the wheel didn’t fall off , it was quite ok to use with care
I’m being selective now when watering , full watering cans are heavy
Best wishes for a comfortable day all

Gelisa,
I would love to be in in Shetlands . right now. Never had the chance to really look round them. Sounds a good place to be right now!
