Good morning from Sunnyside, northwest coast. The opera co concert turned out to be a bit stressful yesterday as the roads around the church were blocked off and not knowing the area, we singers were lost and in our cars communicating on WhatsApp with someone who knew the area. It’s over an hour’s drive for me and I eventually parked in a nearby road and walked with my stuff.

Considering we were rather under rehearsed, it went well, although I had a moment when I couldn’t remember the first line of my comic song for some reason, thankfully it came and I filled in the blank with some stage business. Afterwards, one audience member said they had loved the concert and wished it had gone on for another hour. I didn’t….

I must ring the engineer today to fix my broken automatic garage door and other practical things.
Thoughts to all🌺

A late Good Morning as we just watched the game, what a result!
It’s sunny and the current temperature all day would be perfect, sadly it will rise. A lovely crossing for you Ashcombe.
No voluntary phone today, I booked it off, washing to do, one plus of the weather drying it is easy.
Garden drenched last night, our hosepipe ban kicks in on Friday.
Admin online and birthdays cards to write, im expecting a present delivery later.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from a very dull Co Armagh, but at least it isn’t raining
Busy day yesterday. I’ve started nipping the tops off tomato plants, they have reached the roof of the greenhouse , I tidied up round them
We are having to water some parts of the garden , we use watering cans filled from a tank linked to the gutters of. The huge shed where the tractors get refurbished , hobby of my SIL
Today I hope to go grocery shopping today , empty fridge and spaces in the freezer
Hoping for a good day for all

Good morning from a humid and cloudy Suffolk. I’m about to go and water the tubs before the sun breaks through after finishing my cup of tea and reading all the posts.

We seem to get up later each day and I’m impressed by all the early starters.

I’m meeting an old friend for coffee in a nearby town after we re- established our regular get togethers. We decided that we always need to book the next one otherwise weeks and months go by as we both seem to be busy with one thing and another.

Our family’s sporting interests are mainly cricket and rugby so football passes us by but I hope those whose family members watched or will watch the game enjoy it and the celebrations which followed.

Good morning all from an already hot North Leicestershire.

DH got up to watch the football byt also got up at 'normal' time. I suspect he will need a nap this afternoon.

I have a neck and shoulder massage booked just before lunch and then a Carer Learning session this afternoon.

Have the best day possibke everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone from cool, grey Carlisle though the clouds do seem to be lifting.
We had non-stop light rain all yesterday with the exception of about a minute's sun around dinner time. I don't want the temperatures expected down south though. I actually don't mind cold too much as long as it comes with blue skies.

I didn't do too much yesterday after a poor night's sleep but did get round to making some saffron bread, really to use up some white flour and some saffron. I'm trying to cut out white carbs as they aggravate the bloating caused by the steroids. I've also decided to stop baking cakes etc as no one in the family really wants them now for various health reasons, and I certainly don't. In spite of halving my steroid dose, my weight depressingly continues to increase.

I had a good evening as I found a film I'd been waiting to watch now free with my Prime account...it was a faithful adaptation of the original book. 'The Hail Mary Project' if you like sci-fi. Nothing religious about it, it's a project named after a baseball shot...long distance, little chance of success!

Today, the usual round of bed changing, laundry and vacuuming, reading in the afternoon.

Have a good day if you can, everyone.

Madeleine, I smiled at your comment, regarding coping in the heat. We had the heating on for an hour last night! 🥶

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, warm and sunny again, with a cool breeze at the moment. Lots of windows open to get some fresh air into the house.

DD2 and littlest called in yesterday, DD2 was suffering a bit from her asthma, her Doctor hadn’t prescribed a “reliever” for her so she used my spare one. I hope she’ll be able to persuade the Doctor to prescribe a reliever for her , she already has a preventer.

I need to repot a tomato plant today and move the plants to a better position in the garden.

Safe travels to all those who are on the move today and best wishes to those who are feeling under the weather.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Mon 06-Jul-26 07:39:00

Good morning all, from Glasgow, where it is 13 °C, with showers, yet again.

Grammaretto, I am sorry you are still struggling.😪

There is a funeral on this morning, however I am not going into the body of the church, I'm too vulnerable to be in a large crowd. I'm really there to put the church back to normal afterwards.
This afternoon, DH has a GP appointment, I have low expectations. 😔 he is becoming more unwell by each passing day and still no referral appointments.

I wish you all a pleasant day and safe journey to all, who are travelling.

madeleine45 Mon 06-Jul-26 07:38:28

Good morning Micheal and all GN's from a sunny and breezy North Yorkshire. I expect there will be a lot of bleary eyed but happy football fans around this morning.

Yesterday was a cooler and windier day, but frustratingly I didnt feel very good, and wasnt able to make the most of the cooler day. Today I need to try and get some things sorted out, but probably not a good day to get in touch with weary people. The best I managed was general clearing up and all washing up and kitchen clean and decent for the start of the week. I had plenty of food in but no inspiration to galvanize me into cooking much.

I read of all your different efforts with admiration at your coping with the heat and still doing lots of things. Hopefully I will find something I am keen to do soon to get me going. In the meantime hope you all have a good day and plans work out well

Usedtobeblonde Mon 06-Jul-26 07:36:25

Good morning from Stockport.
I didn’t stay awake for the football although I am enjoying the tournament.
Delighted for the players and the fans.
I had a very quiet day yesterday my family were all out all day.
Sainsbury’s later this morning but nothing else of note happening.
Enjoy what you can of today everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 06-Jul-26 07:33:17

Good morning everybody from Málaga where the sun’s up and I’m enjoying my first mug of tea of the day, sat on the balcony. Well done England during the night. Spain play their neighbours - Portugal - tonight. Both bars downstairs will be absolutely rammed. It’s a 10pm kick off (here) so I think I’ll go in a bit earlier this evening to eat my meal and then leave just before kick off. There will be flags, hooters and noisy support galore!

luluaugust Mon 06-Jul-26 07:29:47

Good morning from a bright and breezy W Kent. Cleaner this morning and then a trip to get some photos specially printed. Enjoyed plenty of tennis yesterday.
Best wishes

Good Morning everyone from a sunny, central south coast. Another warm one in store.

Had a long video call from DD yesterday and heard all about her trip to Melbourne then Hong Kong. She said she doesn't suffer from jet lag by just keeping to her regular hours. She is off to Zagreb for the next conference - not sure when.

Two of my friends from my former choir are coming to see me tomorrow morning and I am looking forward to that. I shall miss the contact with the choir members but with these two especially. They have both said they want to carry on our friendship outside choir so we will see how that goes. I have never been someone with a pressing need for friends being a trainee hermit!

Had a surprise knock at the door about 6pm yesterday and it was our new neighbour asking if we had had dinner yet. I said not and he asked if we liked fish. Oh yes, said I so so he proffered two packs of fried cod from the chippy which they had oversupplied for them and he would be delighted if we could eat them! They are now in the fridge awaiting our lunch today. We seem to have fallen really lucky with this very kind young couple moving in next door. I didn't tell him that we eat dinner at lunchtime and tea at teatime and I was making DH his sandwich tea at the time! It would have felt churlish to do so.

Heard from my niece yesterday in the Isle of Man but still no closure yet. It can't be long. We went through this with my Dad and he hung on for a week after we were told time was almost up as he had a very strong heart. It is exhausting for my poor niece and I am supporting her as much as I can from a distance.

Wishing safe travels for everyone on the move and some relief today for all with struggles and worries of any kind.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. A hot day is promised.

I didn’t stay up for the football (OH did) but I checked the result when I went to the loo around 4 am. Will the King contact the Head of FIFA and beg him to reinstate our player who was sent off? Such a cheek of trump - OH saw the American player’s foul and said it was a blatant and dreadful foul.

Our younger son went back to London yesterday. He is always good company. He had bought us three beautiful golden birds as a belated Golden Wedding present. He also cooked us dinner.

Our cleaner should be here this morning. OH has an appointment. I will pop into Waitrose after lunch. The normal food shop but I’ve also got a pair of curtains to collect. OH is finding it difficult to sleep so I’ve ordered a pair of curtains with black out lining. Although I’ve got a new sewing machine I don’t really want to make curtains again!

Have a good day and keep hydrated! There’s another heatwave due for a lot of us.

Astitchintime Mon 06-Jul-26 07:15:45

Good morning from the NE Mids. Bright and sunny this morning with a gentle breeze. Hope to get some crafting underway today after the usual tidying up etc.
Have a good day one and all!

GrannyGravy13 Mon 06-Jul-26 07:14:01

Good morning I think it’s going to be another glorious warm summers day 🌞

I am trying to decide whether or not to go to the gym, asthma still a bit iffy but my body is telling me it needs to stretch and move.

I know I will have happy, but very tired little GS’s this morning ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Safe journeys to those who are travelling 🙋‍♀️

Grammaretto Mon 06-Jul-26 07:11:45

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's 14° .
Despite my back pain, yesterday was unexpectedly a good day.😊

Quaker meeting followed by being taken to visit some beautiful open gardens. The French volunteers had been tackling my jungle and were happy to drive into the Border hills. It rained gently throughout. 🌧️

I cooked the dinner which went down well.
Spiced rice with cashew nuts.

A roofer is due this morning. I hope he can find and cure the leak. 🤞

Another chiropractor appointment today. Not sure these are making a difference. I have a physio appt on Friday.

Tonight my cousin is due from Boston. She likes to stay in a nearby Airbnb but I hope she'll join us often.

I have to eat my words re the football! Well done England. My football crazy DGD will be thrilled.

Safe journey Ashcombe.
Thinking of all who are unwell or sad.
I hope everyone has some joy today.

Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
NannyJan it's the same in this household I know the score DH is going to watch it on BBC2 at 7, have had to move his phone.
Have ironing to do before it gets to hot and we are going for a carvery later with yet another of our vouchers.
Safe travels Ashcombe and anybody else on the move, best wishes to anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and stay cool 😎.

brook2704 Mon 06-Jul-26 07:03:42

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and raining, might brighten up later who knows 🤷‍♀️
Pleased you’re home safely georgesgran and safe travels to Ash and everyone on the move today
It’s exactly the same in our house NannyJan, I know the score but DH doesn’t and is watching the match on tenterhooks!
Just the usual housework this morning followed by a volunteering session this afternoon and then out line dancing this evening. All enjoyable and keeps me busy
It’ll be to get back to your yoga BlueSapphire and coffee with your pals after
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gingster Mon 06-Jul-26 07:02:01

Good morning all.

Dh was going to stay up for the match but didn’t make it. We’ll watch it on catch-up later.

Lots of tennis watching yesterday - I’ll miss it when it’s over.
I did a bit of gardening in between matches as it wasn’t too sunny.

We have our U3A meeting today with a speaker on Fishing boats. I won’t bother to go as it would mean hanging around for busses in the heat. I’d make the effort but …..

Dgd1 messaged me last night saying her little cat(rescued from the streets and is her baby), had been unwell, cost a fortune at the vet and she’ll have to miss her holiday that she was due to go on today.

She works so hard (mental health nurse) and never asks for anything, so I’ve pinged her over some money to try to help out.

I’ll get some quotes today to have a new roof put in the conservatory . Something to keep out the sun and leaks. Don’t know why haven’t thought of it before. 🤯.

Dd and DGD had a lovely time at the seaside cottage and of course were sad to leave.

Safe journey Ash and Dh.
Enjoy your holiday Gelisa sounds idyllic.

Send down some rain, grans in the north. We’re getting desperate her in the south east.

Take care all 🌺

HelterSkelter1 Mon 06-Jul-26 06:59:53

Good morning from a sunny N Surrey. Cool so far.

Thank you BlueSapphire.that was so kind. Am having a mug of tea on the back step. DD2 is coming to stay with DH and I will have a cab there and back from our friendly local cab company.
Enjoy your day everyone....I will try and enjoy mine!!

Melanie61 Mon 06-Jul-26 06:57:15

Good morning from Sheffield

What a brilliant result for England. I don’t follow football but the menfolk in the family do. It boosts the whole country I think.

I had such a busy day yesterday. We went cycling in the morning, then hubby expressed that he would like to go out in the afternoon.
We ended up going to Cleethorpes. It was lovely to see families enjoying the beach. You can’t beat an English seaside town. We enjoyed fish and chips on the pier. We then called off at our youngest sons and jumped in his hot tub.

We got home at about 8.30. Didn’t even sit down just straight to bed to relax and read. I did sleep very well, I was shattered.

Prayer group this morning and I am working this afternoon
Take care everyone flowers

glammagran Mon 06-Jul-26 06:53:35

Good morning from Wiltshire.

We had a lovely weekend. Saw DD2 first for coffee. She has finally got a date for her MRI and CTA scans. I ordered the books DGD3 hasn’t got from the Isadora Moon series. DGS2 was far too busy helping his dad (at 5) to talk to us.

We then drove on to Newbury and met up with DS and his gorgeous dog Luna who was so pleased to see us in a café garden in Yattendon where we had lunch. We dropped off DGD2’s 13th birthday presents for later this week. DGS1 was competing in a swimming meet in Aldershot so his mum took him this time and DGD2 was with her theatre group preparing for a show in Newbury.

Then on to DD1. DGD1 was at the Henley Regatta so we didn’t see her till she got home around 11pm. They are big tennis fans so we watched Wimbledon for a while. They usually go but not this year. We went out to the fab Indian restaurant in Twyford.
Yesterday was DD1’s birthday. There were numerous helicopters flying overhead enroute from Farnborough airport to Silverstone. I guess people arrive there on private jets before flying on in helicopters. Apparently it was the same in the early evening too in reverse. SInL stayed up to watch England. I’ve just read who won.

Ginny your prison incarceration sounded terrific!
Enjoy your time in France Ashcombe.
Hope your back improves asap Grammeretto.

Have a great start to the week everyone.

BlueSapphire Mon 06-Jul-26 06:38:19

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton. Up early as it's yoga first thing - my first time back after my cataract op. It will be nice to see everyone again, and then go for coffee afterwards.

Spent a good three hours in the garden yesterday as it wasn't too hot. I tidied up the rampant jasmine and vine on my pergola and tied in the new shoots on my Golden Showers climbing rose; it has done very well this year. The vine has lots of bunches of grapes which will eventually turn purple and ready to eat!
I then cut back the Philadelphus, wiegela and a couple of other shrubs which have finished flowering. The cistus and forsythia I cannot cope with as they are too big so will have to get a gardener in.
I will try to cut the grass this week, but first thing in the morning before it gets too hot.

When I get back from yoga my aim is to vacuum the bedrooms and then do the staircase, as that job has been neglected lately.

An easy dinner tonight of fish, new potatoes and peas.

Wishing all a pleasant Monday.
And all the best to HelterSkelter who is having her cataract op today.
