Good Morning Sunday 5th July 2026

Good morning from a bright sunny Suffolk after a pleasant cloudy and somewhat cooler day yesterday. I enjoyed a long catch-up on the phone with one of my old school friends….the last of the 5 of us to be 80 this year. Our plan to have a celebratory holiday in the apartment of one of us on the French Riviera in October is on hold at the moment because of the ill health of one of our DHs.

A quiet restful day at home with the usual dog walk and catch ups with the children by phone. The week ahead is looking quite busy. Hope all have a good day.

Good morning from Koh Samui, Thailand. I think it’s about 32*.

We arrived here late on Tuesday evening and have been having a very relaxing time in a gorgeous hotel where we’re being thoroughly spoiled. I could get used to this lifestyle. 😁

We have a few more days here before moving on.

I haven’t managed to keep up with all the busyness but I hope all is well, or as well as can be, in the Gransnetters’ world.

Good Morning all from the central south coast where it is cloudy but warm and set for another sunny day.

News from the Isle of Man is that my big brother is not expected to last longer than tomorrow so I am awaiting the phone call. He is calm and comfortable in the hospice, where his care has been wonderful. What a brilliant organisation the hospice service is and would that we all could end our days there.

Chores on the agenda this morning followed by the Tour de France on TV and my own gentle recovery continuing. I do feel as if I am over the worst now though my ribs still let me know that they are not ready for much activity.

GM, Catholic churches celebrated the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul last week. Traditionally, that is that feast is when priests are ordained in the Catholic Church.
Curious as to why it was deferred to this week in your church,, as I thought Anglican churches celebrated on the same date.

Thanks for the tip about the tomatoes. R&L, DH usually waters them for me, but they are looking rather sad and neglected at the moment.
My lettuce are not thriving at all, no matter what I do, those blasted slugs always get the better of me!
However, we did have strawberry tarts, made with strawberries from the garden, so like the Good Life. I felt quite smug. Unfortunately, the raspberries seem to be diseased.
It has been a struggle recently for us to keep the garden in order.

We had an unexpected visit from Dollie and her parents. What a joyful surprise! It gave DH such a boost.

Good morning from the Lizard. We are forecast bright sunshine from midday, it’s a little cloudy at the moment.
We were up late chatting and catching up we all the news with our friends last night so only just getting going. We shall have a quiet morning ‘around camp’ and have Sunday lunch booked at a local pub. Probably a wander down to the beach this afternoon, just a pleasant 15 minute walk.
Thinking of all with worries and troubles but wishing you all a pleasant day.

I spent yesterday at the Walk-in centre as I suddenly can bear no weight on my leg due to shooting pains.
The NHS doctor has just called and advised me to go to A&E. A friend is going to take me later when I manage to get dressed.
It is the busiest A&E in the country so could be a long wait.

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton; hopefully not too hot as my plan for today is to do some gardening, cutting back as much as I can of my overgrown jungle. I must find a new gardener.

Had a good shopping trip yesterday getting every I needed, and enjoyed a coffee and bacon roll in Costa. I returned my dress to Next, but came out with a pretty new top which was half price in their sale! Also spent some time searching for a coral-toned lipstick, which was pretty difficult as most of them turned out to be too pink; eventually found something in Boots, and then a pack of lip pencils in the Next sale.

Home to set up my new air fryer which took some time as I had to re-organise the counter tops. Carefully following the instructions I switched it on to cook something for dinner to try it out - only to find it tripped the electrics! So then had to find the step ladder and climb up to the highest rung to sort the fuse box! Can't be doing with that. I will get an electrician in to see if it can be sorted. So it was back to the oven....

Good morning to Micheal and all GN's from a grey breezy but still warm North Yorkshire. At the moment my back and the weather combine to give me patchy nights, so by the time I have creaked upright much later than I used to be.

Yesterday it was very gusty and windy when I went off down to the market. One of my usual stalls I visit had no covering on and I wondered if the wind had taken it away, but the man said no, someone had forgotten to put it on the van, so he was lucky that it was windy and the promised showers did not materialize. I treated myself to some beautiful Kent cherries, big and shiny but quite expensive. They are only here for a short time, which is my excuse!

By the time I had been there and to the supermarket and bread shop, was pleased to get home and all the bags etc in. Put the stuff in the fridge but left the rest to put away later whilst I had to go and lie down flat to straighten my back and let the pain subside. Then I was able to get the papers and sat reading them intending to do more jobs later. The tv is not improving so accepted that I need to replace it. Looked up a few online but not in the mood to make a great effort at the moment, so gave up .

I did watch the Wales/Fijian rugby match and of course sang along with the anthems . Other than that I listened to the radio as tv totally sport end to end. You would think that one channel would cotton on to the fact that non sports watching people could be offered a play or two and interesting programmes and they would have plenty of people watching!

Today not up to going to visit a garden, so will just enjoy radio 3 and catch up with jobs here as it is not too hot yet. Hope you all have a good day.

Re the ordination of priests around St Peters day, my brother was ordained 40 years ago today at Wakefield Cathedral. He has retired now from full time 'vicaring', but is very happily continuing to minister as a stand in priest in his now diocese of St Albans.

Another blustery day but not cold. It got uncomfortably warm during the night, so I had a fairly restless nights sleep. I am not looking forward to the predicted heatwave starting mid week. It becomes too hot to do anything, and the garden is desperate for some rain, but that isn’t in the forecast yet. If only it would rain during the night 😁.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining.
My helpers have begun working in the "garden" . I hope to hire a strimmer later this week.
I've been good for nothing with my painful back. It's so frustrating as there's so much to do.

We've been invited to visit an open garden this afternoon but again I don't think it would be wise to try to walk around.

Enough of my woes!

Our regatta evening was very well supported and the band were amazing.

Good morning everybody from Málaga where we are forecast 33°C but there’s a lovely soft gentle breeze. I’m late on parade as youngest daughter rang for lovely long chat then L’il Miss joined in for a few minutes.

This small apartment is very easy to wipe clean! I’ve just pegged my sheet and pillowcases out and mopped through and to be honest doing my small amount of domestic goddessing whilst looking out at the sparkling cobalt blue Mediterranean is no hardship! There are some pretty white sails on boats today as of course it’s Sunday. Postcard perfect really.

Right, time for some cereal and Greek yoghurt now the floor tiles are dry and I will enjoy reading all your posts. x

There's the saying, "Robins appear when loved ones are near." I always say "Hello Dad," when I see a robin in the garden.
