I love the summer months too! I am usually a cold soul, and have trouble keeping warm in the winter. My hands and fingers go numb, and I have to wear extra layers and use a heated throw- just sensible things really.
I have found as I've got older, that I can't take the really hot temperatures as much as I used to. Gone are the days of lying out on a sunbed , these days I'm more likely to be found under a sunshade!
However, I think we just have to manage the situation as best we can, according to our preferences and needs. Mr LP prefers a cooler environment, so our old cottage ( blissfully cool in this heat, very thick walls ), is fitted with blinds at all the windows, and fans in most rooms.
I have taken to gardening in the mornings before it gets too hot, then relax in the afternoon under a sunshade or indoors, then watering the garden after tea ( 7 or 8 o'clock ) when it's cooled down again.
Don't try to fight the temperatures - you won't win! I feel for those who have to work in this heat, especially my DDIL who has to commute into central London.
I have continued to go to my line dancing classes this week, I love it too much to miss it! Plenty of water, loose clothing ( I even wore shorts and tried to forget about the state of my legs ), and the teacher brought large fans, so we coped ok.
It's a bit cooler today. Went to a car boot sale early this morning - it was very pleasant, with just a slight breeze. This afternoon we are at the theatre, so again loose clothing and hand held fan at the ready.
Do whatever you can to make the situation work for you. We all like different things, so not everyone can be content at the same time.
Take care everyone, however you are spending the day! xxx
