I m loving this beautiful week (probably the only week, knowing British summers )
To feel the warmth in my bones, to see the blue cloudless sky, to to see the flowers with the bees and butterflies hovering around, to hear the birds singing and the kids playing really brings me to life.
I do understand how for some who are not well or confined to barracks or living in city centres, it’s tough, but forgive me, we have sooo little summer most years, a week here or there then it’s all gone and back to the jumpers and coats and umbrellas again, the dreariness, the darkness.

This is not a post for the heat haters to jump on I know you are there and vocal, this is simply an alternative for those of us who come alive when the sun is heating up our bones
Bring it on 🌞

No dont move on Bluebelle, your post title is self explanetary , its about/ for people who love summer , not for whingeying about heatwaves, just for people who prefer warmth to cold, those who dont like summer just pass on by and dont comment!

I will add I ve never in my life been called disingenuous and I take it as quite an insult
Anyway I ll leave you to chat amongst yourselves

It's the "in" word Bluebelle. Don't worry
I had it a week or two ago.

Why do you consider me disingenuous LeCrep
I was simple trying to make a positive thread to counteract all the ‘oh I hate the heat’ threads which happen every summer. this was not meant to necessarily be about the present ‘heatwave’ which obviously is an exception but summer in general
As I said in my original post I totally understand how for some through health, type of work, or area it’s a difficult time.

This was a light hearted thread for summer lovers but it’s been turned into a them and us, as usual so maybe I’ll just move on and leave it alone now

this was not meant to necessarily be about the present ‘heatwave’ which obviously is an exception but summer in general
To be fair though BlueBelle you do in your opening post say
I m loving this beautiful week (probably the only week, knowing British summers ) which has been an horrendously hot week with government issued health warnings. Very many of us have joined you in saying we love summer with the need for less clothing, ability to enjoy the outdoors, the longer lighter evenings etc but we can't join you in thinking this dangerously hot weather is lovely.

I love the summer months too! I am usually a cold soul, and have trouble keeping warm in the winter. My hands and fingers go numb, and I have to wear extra layers and use a heated throw- just sensible things really.

I have found as I've got older, that I can't take the really hot temperatures as much as I used to. Gone are the days of lying out on a sunbed , these days I'm more likely to be found under a sunshade!

However, I think we just have to manage the situation as best we can, according to our preferences and needs. Mr LP prefers a cooler environment, so our old cottage ( blissfully cool in this heat, very thick walls ), is fitted with blinds at all the windows, and fans in most rooms.

I have taken to gardening in the mornings before it gets too hot, then relax in the afternoon under a sunshade or indoors, then watering the garden after tea ( 7 or 8 o'clock ) when it's cooled down again.

Don't try to fight the temperatures - you won't win! I feel for those who have to work in this heat, especially my DDIL who has to commute into central London.

I have continued to go to my line dancing classes this week, I love it too much to miss it! Plenty of water, loose clothing ( I even wore shorts and tried to forget about the state of my legs ), and the teacher brought large fans, so we coped ok.

It's a bit cooler today. Went to a car boot sale early this morning - it was very pleasant, with just a slight breeze. This afternoon we are at the theatre, so again loose clothing and hand held fan at the ready.

Do whatever you can to make the situation work for you. We all like different things, so not everyone can be content at the same time.

Take care everyone, however you are spending the day! xxx
