I m loving this beautiful week (probably the only week, knowing British summers )
To feel the warmth in my bones, to see the blue cloudless sky, to to see the flowers with the bees and butterflies hovering around, to hear the birds singing and the kids playing really brings me to life.
I do understand how for some who are not well or confined to barracks or living in city centres, it’s tough, but forgive me, we have sooo little summer most years, a week here or there then it’s all gone and back to the jumpers and coats and umbrellas again, the dreariness, the darkness.

This is not a post for the heat haters to jump on I know you are there and vocal, this is simply an alternative for those of us who come alive when the sun is heating up our bones
Bring it on 🌞

BlueBelle the thread title says for summer lovers. Many of us love summer we just don't love and can't physically tolerate this extreme heat with all the awful consequences. Did you read the Guardian link I posted? People will die from the consequences of these extreme temperatures which the UK and its infrastructure is not adapted to deal with.

Many trains are not running, haven’t been for days. Have a DD in Bristol desperately trying to get back to London to see her sister in hospital but trains are being cancelled all the time.

And of those that are running some are unbearably hot and overcrowded, but apparently these things are trivial and easily dismissed. Hope your daughter gets back soon and that your daughter in hospital makes a good and swift recovery.

BlueBelle Fri 26-Jun-26 13:25:43

Rosie51 ….and many people die from falling in the snow, trains choked up by ice on the lines, cars stuck in snowdrifts ,
Old people stuck without adequate heating Can’t win can we ?
Guess this country isn’t fit for hot or cold weather then

Jaxjacky Fri 26-Jun-26 13:31:13

I like all the seasons, sadly my internal thermostat doesn’t appreciate the 36 we’ve had for a couple of days.
Today max of 30 and a breeze, better.
I was born in March, Mairipur, Pakistan.

Eddieslass Fri 26-Jun-26 13:40:09

We've been staying indoors during these blistering hot days (both in our late 80s). But the last two evenings I've sat in the garden, in the shade, reading my Jodi Piccoult book from 7 until almost 10pm. Bliss - and so peaceful.

Juicylucy Fri 26-Jun-26 14:19:54

I’m a huge sun lover presently sat outside in shorts and little top soaking up the rays. I feel like a whole different person when it’s sunny I wish this was our summer until September like European countries. I do giggle quietly to myself about all the people that hate this weather but will happily holiday abroad in the sun. 🌞🌞

Bazza Fri 26-Jun-26 14:22:05

I was born in February in Nova Scotia and my mother used to put me outside to nap in my pram with a HWB, but I love the summer, just not this one! It’s a bit like saying you love chocolate and are then force fed it for days. Enough of the 30 plus please!

AuntieE Fri 26-Jun-26 14:32:03

I am hoping this glorius HOT weather lasts until the end of September.

I am getting so much done. painting window-frames, and come early evening I shall mix a batch of mortar to repair a small patch of the garage wall.

I have so much energy when the weather is warm, and by drawing curtains and blinds in the rooms facing the sun, it is perfectly possible to keep the house cooler than the garden.

So I am all for this thread.

Mojack26 Fri 26-Jun-26 14:32:05

Ditto I feel exactly the same. I was loving it and now it's cool, thunderstorms and grey! Temp has dropped from 35 to about 18!😔😢 and windy. Hate it!

Missiseff Fri 26-Jun-26 14:51:50

I love it, but after being a sun worshipper all my adult life I had to have treatment for pre-cancerous skin last year and have had to give up the sun worshipping which I am finding difficult, but will always love a Summer garden as opposed to a grey, muddy Autumn & Winter one and hate being cold

DeeDe Fri 26-Jun-26 15:11:58

I hate it this hot, very unhealthy, lands a lot of people in hospital, besides all the deaths from drowning, and speaking personally our fields are full of ruined crops ...dogs hot too
Don’t seem to get a nice sunny springs nowadays, and we’re not geared in this country for these 35c temperatures.

JakeysGranny Fri 26-Jun-26 15:15:19

I love summer and I love the sunshine, adore gardening and spend as much time outside as I can. It’s been so nice to sit reading in the shade over the last couple of days, I like sunbathing but it’s been a tad too hot for that. I’m planning what to do next in the garden once the temperature drops below 30 and apart from having a fan on to sleep it’s not really bothering me at all. I do not like being cold, not keen on winter at all (although I do love it when it snows 😂).

Emeraldforest Fri 26-Jun-26 15:16:47

I love the summer but once it hits 30 degrees that's an ordeal for me.

winterwhite Fri 26-Jun-26 15:37:44

Of my DDs the January baby loves summer heat the most and the July baby the least so not sure this theory carries much weight.

Also, I’m a winter baby and am afraid of the dark.

NannyJ21 Fri 26-Jun-26 15:40:34

Oh dear I’m so sorry for you ladies in the heat wave. I was born in UK but have lived in Australia for over 60 yrs. In sub tropical Queensland for over 40. So now I’m 83.
Heat? My goodness yes ! it’s summer here from late October /November doesn’t start cooling down till around May!
Daily temps around 26/30 and occasionally higher …sunset around 7pm and boy are we glad. The humidity doesn’t help it’s often high too which makes things worse .and we shower often.. 😂but the winter in Qld is blissful. Coool sunny days for weeks from June to August temps around 11-20 than bam we’re off again 🤦‍♀️….so my final point is…we could NOT live without air conditioning in our State.. We have Fujis in the bedrooms and the lounge area we have a reverse cycled Invertor, which is wonderful, quiet and efficient even at. 20 yrs old…

If you can get one either installed or a portable you won’t have to suffer for much longer …you warm yourselves in winter so you must cool yourselves in summer. For your health ..Aircon is cheaper to run too.
Ok sorry to rave a bit, and I still feel the heat but cool air inside makes life so much more pleasant and easier! 🙏🏻it’ll be cooler soon I’m sure, take care Grans
I love reading all your messages too, 😊🌺Thankyou x

MissChateline Fri 26-Jun-26 16:00:07

I’m totally loving this weather. It’s 30 degrees and steamy. I’ve just been for a walk up a hill through the woods and am dripping in perspiration. I love the hot nights under a light duvet and I love the heat in my bones.
I’ve always taken holidays in India, Cambodia etc anywhere hot. The idea of Iceland, Antarctica etc would fill me with dread. Even when it’s pleasantly warm I’m always taking an extra layer just in case it gets chilly. I’m glad I’m not the only heat loving gran here!

Bazza Fri 26-Jun-26 16:23:14

I love the sun and the blue skies, but here in the south east it’s around 36 and it would be perfect if I could just turn the heating dial down ten degrees.

BlueBelle Fri 26-Jun-26 17:22:29

Hooray for all my ‘mates’ on here who are loving this bright sunshine and beautiful hot days.
It will be a long long winter with lives lost in all sorts of predicaments and ways which the gales, snow and ice bring so you will all get at least 10/11 months cold, chilly, boringly grey weather
I m a March baby, so not a summer one but my mum and dad loved the summer too, Dad would be out in the garden, bare chested, digging up the potatoes, Mum would be on her garden swing or looking after the fruit and tomatoes. Then they d make wine out of the fruit and veg. Lovely simple life.
Cheers everyone, now going for a can of cider and some strawberries off my allotment🤗

I love all the seasons, particularly Summer with the constant sunshine and cloudless blue skies. As I live in California we have all the advantages of air conditioning in the home, in the car, in the stores, in the restaurants, etc. I do appreciate that it might be slightly more unpleasant with the English humidity and lack of air conditioning.

Jenthehen Fri 26-Jun-26 21:40:27

What a shame I was really enjoying this post, warmth, I'm always cold, thoughts of summer loves such happy thoughts. Thank you all.

Cossy Fri 26-Jun-26 21:53:22

I’m afraid I’m not good in either extreme heat or very cold.

I do love the sunshine, and lovely warmth in my bones, but just not this hot.

I hope for a lovely long sunny summer, blue skies, very light breeze, rain each night and temperatures between 22-23c please 🙏🙏🙏🤣🤣🤣

Tenko Fri 26-Jun-26 21:53:33

I love the summer although I’m an Autumn baby . And I’m enjoying the lovely weather , however I’m glad Ive got aircon in my car and lots of fans around the house . My dog isn’t loving the heat and has just perked up at 9.50 and wants me to throw his ball .
I’m also not loving getting up at 5.45 to walk him at 6 in the woods .
But it won’t last long and in a few weeks we’ll be moaning about rain or rubbish weather in the school holidays.

Cossy Fri 26-Jun-26 21:56:40

As for summer lovers I will just say that sand in the nether regions is not pleasant.
