Good morning from the east coast and a slightly cooler day for us.

I am going to get my hair done this morning for my roots and cut and blow dry. I need to bake the Thursday cake for GS. He had a mixed day at school but was super at ours. We were both running through the sprinkler. I was fully dressed and he was naked. I was drenched but lovely and cool. It will be the same today. We have the family over on Sunday so the little ladies will be running in and out with him too. I’m hoping he’ll keep some swim shorts on though.

GrannyGravy I only go on the most gentle of threads I am not brave enough to go on most of the others but would love to contribute.

Wishing everyone a lovely cool day if possible. 😎🌼

Good morning. Another very hot day in store in N. Bucks. It is odd but I have slept better the last few nights than I usually do. I admit I prefer the warmer weather but even I am finding the humidity difficult . I do feel sorry for for people working in this heat, especially those with manual jobs Been there, done that as they say.
My usual busy Thursday will not be so today. Just art this morning , sewing cancelled and choir cancelled. We may have youngest DGS this afternoon.
Wishing all a good day, keep cool.

Good morning from Leicestershire.
Just returned from dog walking where we enjoyed a breeze.

Last night seemed cooler we all including the dog slept better.
Hoping for the same today.

Not much planned for today.
Good luck Rosesandlilac

Good morning from Suffolk where we have weather similar to that described here already but a bit less severe.

Our dining room remained cool for my meeting yesterday and the rest of the house until early evening when indoor temperatures crept up a little which we hadn’t expected. DH said that we spent hours each day and considerable sums of money in the winter trying to get the oil central heating to achieve such warmth and we had it for free!

Off into the backyard to water the pots and then a quiet day inside until the cool of the evening there which is a sun trap during the day but a cool place to retreat then.

I’m not going to my usual Thursday stretch class. Exercise off my normal schedule for now.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it 13°C.

A timely reminder Whiff. My mother, a nurse, refused treatment for a basal cell carcinoma. She died in agony, after it ate into her face and eye.
Last year, I had three patches of Stage one cancer on my face treated, after my GP dismissed them as nothing to worry about!
I made such a fuss, due to my mother, he eventually agreed to send photos to the dermatologist.
Two days later, I had a diagnosis.

Today, DH has a kidney scan. I don't know whether I want them to find something or not!
It was requested by the GP, who has been treating him for the last month. She had never mentioned requesting a scan, however.it looks like she must have been thinking along the same lines as the GP, DH saw on Tuesday.

Yesterday morning was pretty stressful; On Tuesday at bedtime, I realised I hadn't received my new Blue Badge, which is due up next week.
Due to the ongoing troubles of DH, it had slipped my mind.
I emailed the LA, but got no read receipt, so decided to go to the Council Offices, when picking up DH's new prescriptions, which just happens to be across from the pharmacy.
Fortunately I had printed out any correspondence, just in case.

I spoke to a very kind agent, who said the system was saying I hadn't paid the fee. On producing the receipt, he checked and saw it hadn't been allocated it to my account. No badge had been ordered.😱
He promised to speak to a colleague. Later, I received an email, saying I had never confirmed my ID, they could not find my documents. 🤬
I had to submit proof of ID all over again, which meant rescanning everything. I swamped them with ID.🤣
Within an hour, I had received an email, informing me, my badge had been ordered. I could have wept with relief.

I was struggling to walk to the pharmacy, sadly thinking of the days, when I used to run along the Main Street, I never walked, even in school..
Once in the pharmacy, I asked the assistant if she could ask the pharmacist for advice on my folliculitis, which is bothering me a lot. None of the treatments was working.
She asked, why I didn't go back to my GP. I asked if she was joking. Didn't she know, one appointment per condition at the surgery. This condition is minor, in relation to what is going on. I need to prioritise.

I was sitting waiting for DH's meds, when an assistant called my mame and handed me a prescription. I was confused, because my name was on it and I had no prescription to pick up.
The pharmacist had given me a special shampoo, prescribed under minor ailments service.
The staff are so kind to me,♥️

Before we leave for the hospital, I am going to make biscuits for the fundraiser tomorrow. Obviously, I can't be, where there are crowds, so I need to find other ways to support.

Wishing you a pleasant day, folks.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’ll be 33°C again today later. I think it’s the humidity in the UK that has us all feeling like wet rags.

I’m leaving at 9am for a hair appointment. Pure serendipity that when id made this appointment I took an early morning one. Good - before it gets too hot. 🥵

This afternoon I’m popping over to see my stepfather. Last visit before my flight on Monday as I have a funeral to attend tomorrow and plans for the weekend.

Keep well hydrated everyone. 💦

Good morning from Durham. Blue sky and sun, but considerably cooler than a lot of places. I think we might see 25/26.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee at 10.30, then home to fill a couple of empty tubs with the compost and petunias I bought yesterday. Later, I’m babysitting DGS2, so his parents can go out. I think it’ll be too warm to walk Little Dog, which DGS2 loves to do. I’m anticipating lots of his laundry to bring home - drying it won’t be a problem!
You’re on a roll Rosesand I hope your review is another step forward.

Best wishes to all. X

harrigran Thu 25-Jun-26 08:04:56

Good morning from the NE where the temperature is comfortable and with a forecast of 24 ° today.
Yesterday I decided to spend the day doing laundry and put everything on the washing line. Each load was dry before the next load was ready to hang out.
I got the ironing board out, opened all the windows and switched on the Dyson. I always get everything ironed the same day, don't like to look at full baskets.
I was in bed by 9.30 and slept until 7.30, I guess I was tired.

DS is coming after work to take me shopping and then we will have dinner together.
Stay cool 😎

monk08 Thu 25-Jun-26 08:05:00

Good morning all from the Black country 22 degrees at the moment but there was a nice breeze while hanging the washing out.
Toddlers was not to busy and most of the mums wanted cold drinks or had bought their own with them, one of the dads helped us with the tidying up so we away earlier.
A quick trip to Aldi then back to chill.
30 posts already so will get me a 🍵 and catch up with everybody's happenings.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans 😎.

Ashcombe Thu 25-Jun-26 08:15:42

Good morning from Torbay where it is slightly cooler this morning (22) and not forecast to go above 28 degrees with thunderstorms expected this evening.

This morning we shall attend the funeral of our late parish priest who died last month after being retired for only two years. He was a wonderful pastoral worker and a charismatic leader for whom we both had much love and admiration.

I hope today is kind to us all. ✝️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 25-Jun-26 08:23:41

Nice name change there Gelisa I like it better! And good idea 👍

Gingster Thu 25-Jun-26 08:33:55

Good morning all from the delightfully cool Suffolk Coast.,

We had a good journey up and immediately felt the welcome sea air. An onshore breeze.

It was cool enough to have a walk along the beach with little pooch who dived in and out of the water.

I’m sitting on the bank overlooking the sea and thinking once more ‘how can I leave this place’ ? 😢💔.

We won’t be going ‘home’ anytime soon and will make the most of being here. Reading, drinking, watching some tennis and probably dozing. I’ve put the blinds down in the summerhouse so it should be nice and cool in there to listen to some music.

good reminders from Whiff. My Dd had melanoma 5 years ago and 🙏 the immunotherapy cleared it….. but left her with no immune system, and her health is very precarious.

Take care all and keep cool if you can.🧊🍦🔫💧💧💧

Astitchintime Thu 25-Jun-26 08:40:46

Good morning from a very warm NE Mids. Overnight temperature in our greenhouse was 17.9……..down on the previous night of 21.8. Naturally, the outside temperature would be lower in both instances but not by much.
There’s no breeze again and apart from freshening the water saucers outside I won’t be doing much at all today.
Have a good day one and all!

HelterSkelter1 Thu 25-Jun-26 08:47:53

Good morning from an already hot N Surrey.
A timely reminder Whiff. Bring back prams and canopies.

And we must all be aware of what will no doubt be a flood of Air Conditioning scam calls in the pipe line.

Roll on Sunday and normal weather.

grannygravy I rarely venture onto most of the threads on Gransnet, having had my knuckles rapped by someone who had strong opinions!

dragonfly46 Thu 25-Jun-26 08:50:38

GrannyGravy13

We will be missing another one of our regular morning friends for a while, she has decided to take a break after venturing onto a different thread and the responses she received…

I am very sorry to hear that GG.

latedecember1963 Thu 25-Jun-26 09:02:51

I'm sorry to hear that too GrannyGravy13.
Gransnet and their ilk are meant to enhance our lives and I really don't understand the mentality of people who choose to be unpleasant.

This daily thread is a testament to those who stoically keep going, keep a sense of humour and bring cheer to others in spite of what sadness or worries they have.

hollysteers Thu 25-Jun-26 09:16:45

Good morning from Sunnyside northwest coast. I had a really nice day yesterday, the usual lunchtime recital in town (I went in by bus rather than car for a change) followed by lunch of a mushroom omelette.

The pianist started her recital with a modern, slow, gloomy piece. Young musicians don’t realise that the first piece sets the mood and I used to make the same mistake myself when starting out. The rest of the programme was excellent.

In the evening by car to the opera co rehearsal in the city and went through my solo for the next concert. I hope it doesn’t clash with my BIL’s funeral in the south, but if it does, there’s nothing I can do about it. We had a two minute silence for one of our colleagues who died recently.
Afterwards the usual get together for a drink and merriment.

I could be in San Francisco with my flying DD at the moment as a cling on, but put it off as she has her flying exams and other things going on. She’ll come up with another trip for me.

Thoughts to all🌺

Grammaretto Thu 25-Jun-26 09:51:10

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's never too hot 😂

The night wasn't as bad though my back is still causing pain.
I had KCR (kinetic chain release) treatment yesterday. With a yoga mat and pillow on my table, it worked well.
My friend/therapist stayed for tea.

Yoga this morning followed by an eye test and another viewing booked here this afternoon and yet another next week.

A group of young families are interested. They remind me of the communes of the 1970s. Did any of those survive?

Thanks Whiff for the reminder. I too have had a BCC removed and avoid actual sunbathing. I'd rather sit under a tree.

I marvel that you keep your cool MD when all the authorities are so unhelpful.
I hope you and DH get some answers soon.

Such talented families people seem to have on here. From dancers, singers and mathematicians to pilots!

It's DGD 19th birthday today.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Gagagran Thu 25-Jun-26 10:28:38

Sorry to be so late to report this morning. It took me a while to recover from a very hot and steamy night. My hair was dripping wet despite a fan on my face and head all night. I kept thinking of all the memsahibs who went out to India in the 1800s and still had to wear their corsets in the heat. Must have been purgatory.

DH came back exhausted from his morning cycle ride with his club yesterday. I had asked him not to go in the extreme heat but as usual, he carried on pretending he is still the young and fit athlete he was. He was wiped out for the rest of the day but is restored this morning. Why are men so stubborn?

Our only DGS is coming for lunch tomorrow and it will be lovely to see him and hear more about his university course. He is doing Biomedical Engineering, which sounds fascinating and he is loving it. His Mum (DD) is still at her conference in chilly Melbourne but it sounds to be going well and her presentation was well received. She is off to Hong Kong at the weekend where I suspect it will be hot and steamy.

It is my choir social this evening but I am not going. Still not back to fitness and the heat will be awful again. We are only about 7 miles, as the crow flies, from Gosport, which had the hottest ever June UK temperature yesterday. I suspect a lot of fellow choir members will not be going. We are not a young choir! Roll on Sunday when it might cool down.

Take care everyone and I hope all the struggles and worries ease off a bit today.

merlotgran Thu 25-Jun-26 10:29:46

A late Good Morning from officially the hottest town in the UK🔥🔥
I didn’t get to sleep last night until some of you were getting up!
Another day of mooching around, busy doing nothing. The garden gets watered at 8pm! It’s getting boring now.
Hope everyone has a good day. Stay safe and try and keep cool. 😎
