This will make you smile ;😃

We have two GS’s and DD staying with us this week (DD is unwell) The 11 yr old had a football match after school yesterday and walked home in his football boots.

This morning his school shoes couldn’t be found, his only choice go to school in muddy football boots or Grandma’s black trainers.

Yep, he has gone in wearing my trainers, I can only assume (hope) he found his own first thing. Wearing Grandma’s sketchers is totally embarrassing and nerdy apparently (even just to walk next door but one into school) 🙀😹🙀😹🙀😹

Hi to everyone I don’t usually post on here but read most days. Always a comfort

I think I have the months muddled. This can't possibly be June as it is cold, dull and showers are expected.

I am fortunate, I could sleep on a clothes line and had a third good night's sleep. My cleaner comes tomorrow so it will be a massive tidy up today.

There is a mini heatwave coming on Saturday and my grass will be cut that day. Slowly I am getting things done.

A District Nurse will be coming today to care for my wounds. Sterility doesn't exist, so I am concentrating on cleanliness. They are aware of my background, so I don't know why they don't take more care. I watch them like a hawk and none gets off unscathed. If I could see what I was doing I would tell them to bog off!

Tomorrow I am meeting a friend for coffee.

Hi to everyone, thank you for opening the kitchen GrannyGravy.
I often think of MrSoop and Baggs.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 09-Jun-26 21:28:02

I’m feeling a bit melancholy tonight too Charleygirl
Partly this thread and what it has represented but also the fact that we move on without soop. Similarly in my own life too. Such moments do bring tears.
Nothing stays the same in life. SueDonim thinking of you right now as well. x

Hi everyone, I too will try to post more often. I hope McSporran and Baggs are ok.

DH has cooked tonight. It was delicious - he can do that again.

Thanks GG13 for opening and the words of FGT closing the old kitchen.
A few bottles of fizz on the side to toast those we miss and cheers for the kitchen.
SueD 💐

I don’t post here often but it’s such a lovely part of Gransnet and a legacy dear soop has left for us.
Thank you GrannyGravy .
Kind thoughts of mrsoop and Baggs. They must be missing soop so badly.
Scottish shortbread on the side - help yourselves kitchen’ers.

gillgran Tue 09-Jun-26 19:25:04

Thank you GrannyGravy for opening another aptly named thread. Our dear soop would have approved.
Lovely words in the closing posts of the last kitchen.
We all think fondly of soop, MrSoop &, of course Baggs.

I'm usually in the quiet corner these days, but love to keep in touch.
Warm thoughts for you all. x

Redcar Tue 09-Jun-26 19:18:36

Thank you for opening the new kitchen grannygravy. soops legacy is this lovely new kitchen.
Sending best wishes to baggs and mrsoop.
Thinking of those in the quiet corner and those who are not feeling up to posting at the moment.

Bellanonna Tue 09-Jun-26 19:13:00

I don’t post these days but I often read Soop’s kitchen. Thank you for the new chapter GG!

SueDonim Tue 09-Jun-26 19:11:16

A new Kitchen is Soop’s legacy to us, I feel. Thank you GrannyGravy.

I’ll try to pop in a bit more frequently than of late. It’s been hard yards here after losing Dh, and I felt I’d lost track of everyone’s story in the previous kitchen so couldn’t comment.

I’ve brought iced peach tea and cheese straws for everyone to enjoy. Xx

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Jun-26 19:08:09

Sending love and thoughts to Baggs who has lost a dear friend and a much loved daughter 💔

Grannmarie Tue 09-Jun-26 18:59:36

Thank you, Grannygravy, for opening our new Kitchen. It still feels strange without our dear Soop but her spirit endures here in the welcome and support offered by so many lovely Kitchen folk, old and new.

I've brought some lentil soup and shortbread because it's been colder today, the heating is back on! Help yourselves. 🥰

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening, thinking of you all, especially those the Quiet Corner. Kind thoughts to MrSoop and Baggs. TOYA.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 09-Jun-26 18:58:11

Welcome to the new kitchen! I expect we’ll all start flooding back soon. Such a cosy, supportive and gentle place. 💐🍮🍩🍾🌹

Charleygirl5 Tue 09-Jun-26 18:44:01

I agree. I thought that this thread would appear strange and it does to me at present but once we start our chatter, hopefully the nostalgia will leave me.

Onwards and upwards. Please ignore me.

Septimia Tue 09-Jun-26 18:35:57

Yes, the kitchen must continue with the same ethos - it's so supportive and friendly and by far the best bit of Gransnet! I don't post often, having little to say, but always look for it to find out how everyone is.

Mollygo Tue 09-Jun-26 18:25:45

Just reading the support offered on the kitchen sometimes made life better, even though it wasn’t aimed at me.
Keep going.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Jun-26 18:23:42

It feels odd to have a kitchen without our founder.

We shall carry on as she would have wished.

Supporting each other and sharing our ups and downs 😘🥂🫖☕️🍰
