No lazy day for us! The DH and I look after the dear GD's on Mon day. One's three and the other 18 months. Strangely, Monday was the first day in three years that we had rain all day and were forced to cancel the outdoor long walk. We did John Lewis in the morning and a quick foray in the afternoon. But still came home damp and dripping.

We love the day but come home drained.

My problem is that I am an after lunch person but most things take place in the morning like coffee mornings, meeting for lunch, U3A, etc. When I am ready to play everyone has been and gone and done it so the cafe is shut, the playmates are back home and I am on my tod.

My mother was a great one for that work ethic. Chores in the morning, and one could drink coffee. Afternoons one discarded the apron for a nice dress, and one could drink tea. If you had a baby that was dressed beautifully, put in an equally dressed pram and taken for a walk.
My mother was a miner’s daughter . I never knew found her airs and graces. But woe betide you if she visited of an afternoon and you were doing the ironing .

The same here. I have had for me a busyish week. Nothing important or very interesting, but something every day. Have just been for a short walk to the supermarket and got caught in a wild squall. Cold wind and heavy rain. But now its a bright blue sky and sunshine. Nothing planned at all for today. So will just gently potter.

I have 2 relations who can't do this. One in his 80s feels guilty if he reads in the daytime.. And the other also in her 80s feel guilty if she watches anything on the tv during the day. She will go to the cinema or theatre in the day guilt free. But not TV.

Oh well. If you can't do nothing in your 80s when can you???

Why on earth feel in any way "guilty" for reading during the daytime? The Protestant Work Ethic has a lot to answer for!

I'd have a go myself, but I'm not so good at it lately

My granddad had a Patterdale cross called Paddy poodle! No poodle in it as it had short black straight hair lol. It was trained to go to the corner shop with a bag and purse around it's neck and fetch one or 2 light things and a newspaper in its mouth! Also would bring in the chicken's eggs in it's mouth and carefully put them on the floor without breaking any. Very clever dog.
Today I've done nothing except watch TV and finish playing an online game. Husband has sat around most of the day too apart from taking the dogs to the fields and cooking the tea.
Tomorrow I need to get on with the cleaning washing and ironing. It's the mañana approach lol.

I was up at 7.30 but then back to bed with a cup of tea. Read 2 papers and did wordle and crossword before I got up. Didn’t feel guilty because last week had 2 of my DC their spouses and 5 DGC here so had very early starts and did a lot of cooking, cleaning etc.
This afternoon we had a wet walk with our dog- a very lively 18 mth old cocker spaniel. I had always said I wouldn’t sign up for another 15 years with a puppy, but no regrets. We love her but are very bad owners in that she is spoiled rotten. My children remind me that our first dog wasn’t allowed on the furniture or upstairs, whereas the present incumbent has made her way from a crate to sleeping between us- oh dear.

I get out of sorts if I do not have at least one lazy morning a week. Not a lark at all, but DH sees an empty day on the calendar for both of us and wants to get up and go.

Patterdales are very lively and need a good run, borders have energy, but do watch their ability to steal. A cross is a great working dog but so affectionate.

I'm having a lovely lazy day today - we've just come back from a week on Lake Garda and although it was lovely, I am absolutely exhausted! Yesterday I unpacked and did the washing, called my Mum and daughter to catch up and out daughter in law came for dinner which was lovely as we hadn't seen her for ages!

Today I'm doing nothing but recharge my batteries. It's lovely to go away but really lovely to come home. Especially when you don't have to go back to work! 😊

I was planning on a lazy day but it turned into a productive morning. Physio exercises, showered, then did the free postcode lottery quizes for their prize draw (wordsearch and quiz), Scrabble app wordsearch, sorted rubbish and recycling. All before going for toast and coffee at the flats where I live. Back to boil eggs early for lunch sandwiches. After lunch I sat down to watch my 2 episodes a day of Doctors on U and fell asleep!

having a lot of pain at the moment struggling to walk seeing orthapedic surgeon 22nd June but if i sit down for five minutes I feel guilty!
anyway I did make a black forest trifle for pudding at teatime washed up now am thinking i shall do some colouring to help me relax.
i do shake a lot so tend to go over the lines in colouring books but i enjoy it

Lazy day for me had a shower, watered and cut down a houseplant and wiped down the screen.
Procrastinating about washing my floors. It's raining, I don't feel like going out and I am spending too much time on Gransnet.

Yes, I always feel that I should have a lot to show for the day! Mostly never pleased with that either. Enjoy your brew and the music.

The name has been decided and it’s Duke…. (grandson’s idea) but thank you for your suggestions….🤗
