Disappearing contributors - part 2

I use the McCain ones.
For some reason the bigger pack are nicer than four potato ones.

They're such a handy standby.
I use them with all sorts of meals.

I've not tried the M&S ones.

Sometimes, if you're on your own, little packs of things work out better than having to store something for months on end.

I've found with jacket potatoes; i use two, and the rest are growing eyes and not really fit for using by the time i get round to them.

Now I’m on my own, I’ve taken to buying M&S frozen jacket potatoes. They’re just potatoes, nothing else. They’re £3.70 for four and each cooks in a microwave for 7mins. If you want them crispy you can stick them in an airfryer. They’re a quick, tasty meal.

With the 2 minute rice, I always think of my bills.
Boiling water for however long, cooking the rice for however long, or two minutes in the microwave.
Mmm tricky!

I keep a couple of those packs of Jamie Oliver (or similar) rice, other grains in for those evenings I can’t be bothered cooking. Great with bell peppers, mushrooms etc

I usually cook but like Primrose, can’t get too wound up about additives - I’m 77 and reaching am I bovvered

My potatoes with little eyes go in the ground amazing how many potatoes you can get from your cast offs

I do the same..you can even cut a potato up so each piece has an eye and get a few plants from one spud

A bit too early for me to think of supper yet but I do have some M&S smoked haddock fishcakes with cheesy centres and cheesy baked broccoli to look forward to. Bit too cheesy maybe.

I tried a sachet of egg fried rice and it was pretty good. I usually make my own EFR but it tempted me.
I did notice it had sugar, guar gum and stabiliser whereas my own has none of those. Not that bothered though. 🤭

I like the microwaveable rice packets so easy if you haven’t time to cook a full on meal and you can add what bits and pieces you want to the snack

I use those, there are little pack that come I’m duos, enough for two small servings, that are good as well. I don’t have any to hand so I can’t remember their name.

I like rice based dishes, but I really dislike the packets of savoury rice found in supermarkets.

The dried ones are just as unpalatable as the microwaveable ones.

I love rice and rice based dishes but for DH a meal is not a meal without potatoes.
I hope Allira had a lovely Sunday lunch and is enjoying the weather.

J2 that was an expensive mistake! I used to make risotto alla Milanese for my husband but gave it up as the spice was so expensive.
I’ve got quite a lot of crocuses. Wonder if I could make some?🤔

Oh Saffron lovely. I once was given several sachets of Saffron from Spain. DH had a cupboard clearing bug and threw them out, as old bits of plant!!

And he lived to tell the tale? 😱😱

Hello Allira and hello fellow posters. I’m a bit late today, got wrapped up in safari photos from a friend who is enjoying Botswana. Looks exciting, fun and scary at the same time.
