Would Allira want to come back after this? She would be walking on eggshells all the time. Has Gransnet been ruined for her now?

That’s true. If Allira could return, she wold be on tenterhooks each time she posted, and
MartavTaurus
made a number of GNetters wary of posting and afraid they'll be picked off next.
Do you think that’s already happening?

I've posted nowhere since this kicked off 12 days ago. (Some might rejoice!)
I read threads, but that's it. Though I slipped up this morning to give someone advice. 🤭

In total agreement with everyone's outrage/anger of how Allira has been appallingly treated by HQ. This only goes further to reinforce my long held belief that we have moderators amongst us on the threads.

I did actually ask the question of someone on the first Allira thread if they were a mod as they seemed to be very knowledgeable about what was/wasn't acceptable to HQ - never got a response though. Not that I really expected to get one I must admit. Unnerving all the same.

Some goal. Some achievement.
So the reporting poster, who must have considered herself the injured party, (because no one else felt this way), has now made a number of GNetters wary of posting and afraid they'll be picked off next.
My feeling is that Allira is very much the victim here.

TerriBull Wed 03-Jun-26 18:41:50

I think GN has been ruined many for us, apart from the poster who has now achieved her ultimate goal sad

Galaxy Wed 03-Jun-26 18:36:06

I think that is a fair question,I know i would find it impossible if it happened to me, but I suppose the point is that she doesn't have the choice.

Removal without warning maybe Fancythat,
Character assassination without shown proof, on a public chat forum and no ability to come back and protect or defend herself .
Something we are trying to do fior her

This is what is indefensible. Public assassination of her character and posts with no chance of her reply (and never showing her the evidence) is not the actions associated with decency and fairness. But then maybe they aren't interested in how they are perceived 🤷🏻‍♀️

This thread and the one preceding it is surely a petition in itself?

Yes hopefully 🙏
Please bring Allira back GN

Really? Allira doesn’t even know what posts she has been banned for? shock Talk about judge, jury and executioner.

Yes it certainly isn’t right. I wouldn’t sleep, I’d want to know what I had said to upset folk.

fancythat Wed 03-Jun-26 17:18:20

^Gransnet is a lightly moderated site - mainly self-policing. We’re all for freedom of speech but also aim to make grandparents’ lives easier, more interesting and fun, so where necessary, we will use our discretion to delete posts (or ban posters) if it seems to us that doing so is in keeping with this aim. We do have some rules and guidelines to make the Forums work properly, so that they’re a good place to hang out.

Follow our Gransnetiquette and you'll upset no one and post happily for many moons. Better still, you'll never be on the receiving end of a quiet word from Gransnet HQ.^

fancythat Wed 03-Jun-26 17:17:12

There are other parts to their rules.
I will go and find them.

BlueBelle Wed 03-Jun-26 17:15:17

From GN s rules
we will remove posts we believe to be obscene, racist, homophobic, contain personal attacks or break the law once they are brought to our attention

Which of Alliras posts broke these rules… I have never ever seen one…. has anyone else?

fancythat Wed 03-Jun-26 17:14:58

I dont know how it is normally done.

I also assumed that this would have been made clear to Allira herself, even if it can't be discussed on here. In fact, I assumed that there had been a dialogue, with 'afforded opportunities' to where to the guidelines', as per the first admin comment on the other thread.

Is this not the case?

I imagine[if what was written before was correct] she had had multiple deletions in the past[those, "here is a link to the talk guidlelines things"[and we are supposed to know what the guidelines are]], it seems this time, they just banned her.
From what I can gather from the last thread about this.

Which they can do, as it is their site.

I had a look at the guidelines this morning.
I dont know if they have changed from previously, but even in the first few lines it talks about how they will ban people for whatever. If they choose to.

But they are the judge jury and executioner.
Always known that.
Which is why I tread carefully.
What we write counts as publishing.
I consider that a privilege. To be able to do that.
And at no cost.

We dont own the site.
We are not employees.
It is their site to do as they please.

Not sure there is any comeback to them.
Suppose there is, but I dont know what it would be.

Oh my goodness petra I fully expected that by now Allira would have been given chapter and verse of all the evidence that in GN's eyes justifies her character and reputation being totally and publicly trashed.

If you Anni had had your character assassinated publicly online wouldn’t you like to see the proof🤷‍♀️ could anybody truly answer that they wouldn't? Why won't GN provide the evidence to Allira especially as they were prepared to state publicly the numerous faults she's being punished for.

petra Wed 03-Jun-26 16:04:19

Anni@Gransnet
I understand full well that you can’t publish the answer to this question.
Why have you not produced the evidence that you have on Allira, to Allira.
She hasn’t seen these goady posts, accusations of controlling threads. This is what members are asking.
If you Anni had had your character assassinated publicly online wouldn’t you like to see the proof🤷‍♀️

Do NOT stop ladies (and gents if there are any here)
Im trying to be fair to Admin and I am saying ‘you have obviously made a mistake and looking at the wrong stats about Allira you are not describing the right person You can put this right if you are humble enough and admit a mistake has been made and reinstate this lady asap

The lady you have describe is NOT Allira

I have never reported anyone because I despise tattle tales.

Some time ago now, one of our members - along with the rest of us - was engaged in the back-and-forth of those debates which sometimes become a tad heated.

Suddenly, a 'one-line' post appeared attacking said member using language that was both obscene and abusive.

I, and others who'd seen it, hit the 'report' button (for me, the first and only time); I also informed that individual I'd done so.

I forget now the circumstances surrounding this event - it may have been during school-holidays when some teenagers feel compelled to cause trouble and, so I'm told, create accounts for the sole purpose; or simply use their grandparent's account if, like me, they don't log-off after each session.

Maybe others remember this? The victim was GSM... Anyway, the post was, obviously, deleted but I don't remember the final outcome.

I'm recounting this because I believe there are times when being a tattle tale is essential. I'm not going to protect someone who is spewing what amounts to hate mail - that so often can descend into threats.

The comments attributed to Allira were posted and in place, if only for a brief time, for anyone to see. It would be interesting to know how many people reported them, as no-one has claimed to see them.
I remember a particularly horrible post about Boris Johnson when he was ill with covid, which was reported by many people until it was taken down. That person still contributes to GN, but it was some years ago and things have changed.
