I have never reported anyone because I despise tattle tales.
Some time ago now, one of our members - along with the rest of us - was engaged in the back-and-forth of those debates which sometimes become a tad heated.
Suddenly, a 'one-line' post appeared attacking said member using language that was both obscene and abusive.
I, and others who'd seen it, hit the 'report' button (for me, the first and only time); I also informed that individual I'd done so.
I forget now the circumstances surrounding this event - it may have been during school-holidays when some teenagers feel compelled to cause trouble and, so I'm told, create accounts for the sole purpose; or simply use their grandparent's account if, like me, they don't log-off after each session.
Maybe others remember this? The victim was GSM... Anyway, the post was, obviously, deleted but I don't remember the final outcome.
I'm recounting this because I believe there are times when being a tattle tale is essential. I'm not going to protect someone who is spewing what amounts to hate mail - that so often can descend into threats.
