Another poster as well as Allira and GSM who I believe also may have been banned, Carriad Again.

GSM isn't coded, just an abbreviation, I think it's standard practice with long user names.

It’s obvious that some members didn’t read the whole of the last thread.
This is copied from the exact email sent to Allira

Following several reports about your posts we reviewed the account and found that it is connected to a banned account. We don’t allow users to return to the site after a ban by opening or using another account
Given the ban evasion along with the concerning nature of recent posts this decision is final and we won’t be entering into further correspondence about it
Obviously this email didn’t mention the accusation of being goady and bringing up old posts Those accusations were in another email from the mods of which I have read.
My take on this almighty cock up is: they put information into AI and this is what it came up with and we all know how not fit for purpose the technology is at HQ.

On a personal level I take offence at being called a user by the powers that be. I signed up to be a member

Surely conversations in real life drift around often ending up far from where they started. We don't ostracise people in our real life circles for that.

We can, if we want, say something like 'anyway, back to the topic in hand'. Or walk away ourselves.

I know one name who reported Allira but I ve no idea who the clique are ? Gets more mysterious.

We each handle serious subjects as is right for us and a bit of humour never hurt anyone surely. If you think someone is being facetious on a serious thread you either ignore or call them out in your next post, you don’t go running to mama !

Do people seriously believe that this situation has been brought about by reports to HQ from one particular poster?

I have no idea how this could have happened in that way. People seem to be quite confident now that this is the case, and also who is responsible, but how have they come to this conclusion? I’m now completely baffled.

Because there are a handful of posters on here who live in each other’s pockets. They all contact each other and hit the report button. They did not agree with Allira and a few others amongst us who do not share their very strong opinions on a current situation that shows no indication of improving any time soon.

Thanks Primrose, but now I’m even more confused!! Those of you who are “in the know” possibly don’t realise how mystifying this all is for those of us who aren’t.

What I can tell you is that our other much loved and respected member GSM went the same way and for the same reasons on the same topic. I know that for a fact as she told me herself. Our views and opinions were all the same and we were not afraid to politely say so although we were often very rudely called unfair and untrue names and anything we said which others could misconstrue was reported by the clique.

Yes, I think that might be because the waters are getting a bit muddied here as to the reasons why Allira was banned.

I know a lot of prople are understandably saying that the N & P threads have caused all this, but I think we need to mindful of GNHQ's words that, the pattern of bad behaviour primarily included thread-policing, personal digs and whipping up criticism of other posters.

If it had been Allira's political views, which to my mind were neither inflammatory nor in any way racist, then GNHQ would have surely mentioned this. Allira was always very careful not to follow anyone else's lead, and she treated other's political opinions with respect.

It is her writing style, and her presence on lots of discussions, which has been misunderstood, I think by someone who is jealous that she interacted so well with other posters. That's why she was told she controlled too many threads and that she took discussions away from the subject intended with her humorous comments.

Care should be taken not to align Allira's political views with anyone else's on GN or things will inevitably end up down a rabbit hole.

This isn't school. So, what do people want - report bullying or not?
It doesn't have to be out and out obvious bullying, it can take a variety of forms.
A bunfight, it used to be called by the moderators, when its rather more upsetting to the person on the receiving end.
Following people thread to thread, misconstruing their every comment, spoiling any converstions they're having, with the"you don't own this thread" trope.

A whole host of underhand tactics.

I'd never, ever include Allira in those sorts of mind games, but I've no problem reporting if i see it being done to others..
I'd rather be a snitch than a bully.

I realise some members are a lot more invested in GN than others but the reporting process on fellow members is such a sneaky, unpleasant set up imo.

The obvious scams & sales pitches do get reported, quite rightly, but there a poster will state quite openly they have "reported" the dodgy post. I don't see why it should be any different if you're aggrieved/insulted/upset by a poster in calling them out.

Anyway, at least with our musings we're keeping the thread going

Have suspicions about there being some kind of cartel of posters working together to get people banned been reported to GNHQ with examples as evidence, particularly if there are the same posters involved in the assumed threads leading to both these bannings?

I still think it comes back to what I said earlier on the thread, that lots of these ‘person X and/or some posters’ vague accusations aren’t going to be enough to warrant a re-think for Allira’s return, there needs to be something concrete for GNHQ to further investigate.
