I think many posters read and do t comment and sometimes I understand why.
I’m sad and sorry over all and any bans and deletions.
I know we should all stick to the rules, but this is life and sometimes passions and emotions take over.
I’d like to see posters and their statements just left where they are, sometimes later the posters acknowledge they were wrong and apologise.
I try to be balance, but on the odd occasion I know I’ve offended and try and apologise.
We are all only human and flawed.

Whether they are banned or simply stop contributing it seems this happens reasonably often. It is a shame ,particularly when someone who has been a ‘regular’ is banned and most of us have no idea what caused it. A recent person to be banned never, as far as I am aware, transgressed . Sometimes I think someone with opposing views complains and causes a banning quite unnecessarily and we are the poorer for it. It would be very boring indeed if we all held the same views on everything.
It’s strange that so many posts are deleted. No one is ever give a detailed reason
It’s feeling abit like year 6, where the children have stricter teachers in order to prepare them for high school

I am wary or naming names because that poster might not want us to talk about it.
Just for reference if ever I get banned please mention my name, go into mourning etc.
Sorry, that made me smile
Yes, I rarely post nowadays. Can’t stand the Big Brother Admin attitude. Oops! That’s probably me due a patronising email from them.
If I disappear again you’ll know what happened.
Do you mean the thread where the poster was named, petra, or was the thread where there was presumably an altercation resulting in a banning, removed?
I'm always surprised if anything I post gets a response - I'm usually ignored. Occasionally I do say something I know is controversial and I get the bite back that I anticipate. But that's what happens in a discussion "in real life".
Perhaps GNHQ could take a look at other posts by the person being compained about to see their character before banning them. Or maybe they could require more than one complaint about a post (apart from obvious spam) before they take action and lose us some of our most helpful members.
Please ignore my post made at 14:55; for some reason, I couldn't see the thread I thought was missing. Doh!! Must be the heat addling my brain.

I’m in the dark as well Kittylester.
I’ve been out since this thread started and apparently missed the naming.
Could we have a cryptic clue to the thread?
The thread was taken down as soon as it appeared.
I had no idea until I saw this thread that anyone had been banned let alone who it might be. However, a quick look at the list of topics under 'Chat' shows no trace of a certain regular daily thread for yesterday, Monday. Hmmm.
And if that leads to my getting banned then, goodbye all. Been nice knowing you.👋
A slight detour, but do we know how many people read GNet but don't post? A PP said above that GN is small. I don't think that is the case. I think there must be many many people who read but don't post. I often think Oops when a GN makes a critical remark about a neighbour, family member or associate and their post is quite identifying. You just don't know who is reading this site.
I too have no idea who has been banned. When reading threads I rarely take notice of the name just concentrate on the comment most of the timr.
I suspect we have had some clues, but I am none the wiser.
I tend not to notice people’s names, or identify particular comments with particular people. If a thread turns nasty I stop reading it. I can’t be doing with nastiness. It is one thing to hold differing opinions, another to be rude or spiteful.
I gravitate towards threads where I feel I can make a useful
contribution and to not-too-serious ones.

On finding out who is the latest to be banned I am shocked and bewildered.
I don’t know what happened so can’t comment on the particular posts but always found the poster a reliable member of GN.U so agree and one of the least aggressive of our posters.
I admit curiosity, maybe they didn't post where I read.

As do I, daft curling tongs thread.

I suppose it is interesting that we are using GSM name and I have just mentioned trisher but iam64 was deleted for mentioning the current banned posters name. I suppose it depends who is reporting what or what specific posters want.

I do notice sometimes when people disappear, I used to have fantastic arguments with Trisher/Glorianny and she disappeared, I miss her! I noticed GSM s absence as well.
GSM, whose political outlook was the opposite of mine - is the one I miss the most!
Long ago, when I was in my late 20s, the head of my department was a true-blue Conservative, and a strict disciplinarian. I eventually discovered that he was the most honest and kindest person I had ever known. I understood then, that you can admire someone without necessarily agreeing with them.
It took me that long to realise it.
I have to agree. It would obviously be impossible to do but most of all I felt that the good GSM contributed to GN should be weighed against whatever it was that finally made GNHQ reach the decision they did.
You just have to dive right in and not worry if you’re acknowledged or not, you’re there in black and white and it will be read.😃
Oh yes I used to argue like anything with GSM but in my experience she was fair and not personal.
I think the thing about GN is it is small so you recognise regular posters much more than on other sites which might lead to more conversations between those
people particularly if they hold opposing views. I could go on MN and not recognise a soul which I think leads to people talking more generally rather than conversing with a specific person.
I keep reading about new folk feeling ignored by us oldies.
I’m sure that years ago there used to be a thread where newbies introduced themselves, talked about their interest etc. and I can remember looking out for these newbies.
I will admit that I am the worlds worst for recognises names and whether they are new or not, but a new thread with new names would jog me I think.
It's like that at first Plevey and Fallingstar. Its an unusual sort of conversation because its not sort of like a 1 2 1 or even a little group where everyone generally in Real Life acknowledges each other - people will generally comment or quote if you have caught their interest - or maybe that although what you said was said well, its already been said
or sometimes its in the middle of a bit of a to-do between posters who've been around a lot.
I have less time now but when I joined I had a lot of time and it was a "politically very hot time"
and I also have experience elsewhere to start up threads. and generally they were somewhat tedious with loads of information at the beginning and too full of internet references but people did join in.
but as a reader I can tell you that I dont just arrive mid thread and post, unless its a nice chatty "what are you you u to today sort of thing".
so you are both being noticed and read, but not necessarily commented on, and its a bit in the nature of quite a big chat board that it feels that way.

I agree with Falling star. I'm a newbie but don't really feel like I'm part of it. I post sometimes but it's like...has anyone read it and is this a conversation? I'm not sure we respond to what anyone's actually said.
