What are you avoiding doing in this heat?

I like sunny days but the heat saps my energy.
I can’t do anything energetic for more than 20 minutes.
I have watered the plants but am not going outside until there is some shade. The housework will have to wait. I have no plans for today but will try to tick some admin jobs off my list.

I call 20C very pleasant thank you so I'm not avoiding anything much, just enjoying the sunshine and hoping that this is the only summer we'll see ....... ☀

Walked at 5am, bread in oven, came back to fresh breakfast bread. Garden in the shady areas, changing location quite often. Air con on.

What am I avoiding during this hot weather: everything. Staying in with my knitting and doing nothing apart from feeding myself and my cat. Stay safe and cool. hugs

Avoiding anything outdoor mid day, started in garden at 6.30
Finished at 11.30 thats pretty much it for today.

Avoiding the house.

I’m just sitting outside enjoying the sun. There’s quite a breeze here in Durham, so it feels nowhere near the 28 forecast.

Lucky ducks. Winter is approaching here, 18 C today and going down.

Had no plans for today other than dossing around so that's what I will do. Sat out in the sun to have coffee and do the crossword but now back in a nice cool room. Much as I love the sun the heat saps my energy these days and I overheat really quickly - which is strange because when I was younger I could take the heat but hated the cold.

Washed a load of towels yesterday and three Winter gilets and they all dried outside so no ironing to do until later in the week.

Avoiding the sun as far as possible so sitting indoors with the blinds down and fan available. Luckily my old cottage is cool. I did everything early, my dog was splashing in the river at 7.

Been outside watching hubby do the garden but it’s too hot for me now. Will make a bowl of salad and pasta for tonight’s early evening tea.nothing else planned

Did 2 hours gardening at 8 o'clock in the shady bits of the garden.More than I intended really but one thing led to another.
Got 2 lots of bedding washed and 2nd lot almost dried.
Now sat with a coffee and book and just hoping all the noise of strimmers and garden power tools has stopped and I can just listen to the birds and have a snooze.

Doing anything basically!
We were out with the dogs before 6am, I hung out the washing, tidied around and spent a couple of hours in my Shed doing my needlework.
Just enjoyed cold chicken with homemade salads and coleslaw.
The dogs are snoozing, the fans are on and there’s actually quite a pleasant breeze flowing through the downstairs.
I’m staying indoors this afternoon, the dogs will pester for a walk later and I’ll try to limit it to a very quick and short amble, staying as much as possible in the shade.

Shortened a dress, did some admin, caught up with some friends on the phone.
Am avoiding clearing out a window box and replanting.Tidying in the garden . That can wait until it's cooler .

Not a great deal during the day. I’m getting up very early, watering the garden at 5 am, then a few chores around the house. Nothing from 9am onwards apart from preparing a salad for later. Fans on, DH snoozing, I’m now reading Gransnet and a book shortly. Feel sorry for my friends cat who is very furry. Must be uncomfortable for him.

A big pile of ironing, from our holiday. We did change the bed early this morning though. Will be lovely tonight.

yogitree Mon 25-May-26 13:40:22

Did all the domestic chores this morning including washings etc. Hub took dog out for her walk while it was cool while I did the garden watering, and then we went in the car to the vet for more antibiotics Now had lunch, and away for a lie down in my cool bedroom with a good book and a glass of water for an hour or so. After that I have a choice of house Admin or Filing and later still will be preparing dinner and once again watering the garden - it's a fairly big space and takes me at least 40 minutes to get round it all.

yogitree Mon 25-May-26 13:43:02

Cabbie21 I just realised I didn't really answer your question! I am avoiding doing the weeding and trimming! Also shopping is out of the question - I would be far too hot and bothered and intolerant of others as I don't handle heat well nowadays. Grumpy old lady I fear.

Gran22boys Mon 25-May-26 13:54:28

Avoiding domestic chores. May watch Chelsea again on iPlayer.

BoggledMind Mon 25-May-26 14:28:56

I'm avoiding the possibility of getting sunburn (I do use factor 50 protection though).
The house is quite cool considering the temperature outside is currently 88°F/31°C.

TwiceAsNice Mon 25-May-26 14:33:52

People with dogs no walking except at the very beginning or end of the day. Touch the pavement with your hand if it’s too hot to keep your hand there for 7 seconds it will burn your dogs paws . Please be careful

My autistic GS , 17 today, has just gone to the local shop wearing a black quilted jacket.
We are going out for a family meal early evening, it will be quite a battle to persuade him to leave it off.

cornergran Mon 25-May-26 14:39:22

As so many of you are I’m avoiding the ironing although it definitely needs doing.

Cabbie21 Mon 25-May-26 14:49:05

Nothing active this afternoon, though I achieved quite a few things this morning- not too taxing.
I have just ordered a new i-pad. Mine is old and slow. The battery drains fast, so I am looking forward to collecting that tomorrow.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 25-May-26 14:58:52

Hung some washing out and the sun was absolutely searing - so the rest will have to wait until later.

Frenchgalinspain Mon 25-May-26 15:07:49

Up at 8.30am .. Fast shower .. Dressed and off to pick up some fresh veggies and then stop for a café on ice and a tostada with extra virgin olive oil / salt and crushed fresh red tomato.

Then did my walk and home sweet home ..
