Ponds Cold Cream

My Mum’s favourite perfume was Coty L’Aimant cream perfume in the little black bottle with the pink dip stick. When she couldn’t get any more out with the stick she’d put a little drop of water in it and give a shake and use it for another few weeks.

Then when it was past that stage she kept in a drawer with lid off to act as a drawer freshener 😊

I still have the one I found in her chest of drawers when I was packing away her stuff after her death 20 odd years ago and I can’t bring myself to part with it. It actually still smells faintly of perfume after all this time.

Esmay

I loved that talc -it smelt so nice.
My all time favourite shampoo was Polyherb .
It lathered up well and left my hair soft and fragrant.
When it was naturally dark it seemed to bring out the red tints .

Scream! me too Esmay! Polyherb ‘Rainsoft’ dark green and pungent, wonderful.
We lived in a soft water area so a little went a long way -
then suddenly it was discontinued.
I have never found anything to match it.
neither have I ever encountered anyone else who had
heard of it let alone used it, just blank looks.

Nivea face moisture in the white container. I think it is on Amazon, but packs of six!

Oh yes, Polyherb shampoo! I loved it. Also Body Shop Coconut Oil shampoo, Seaweed & Birch shampoo and Ananya shower gel.

FindingNemo15, I got some Nivea moisturiser in the white bottle not long ago from a local pharmacy, although usually it's the blue bottle that I get.

Outdoor girl waterproof mascara in black.

Happy face, it was a face wash which left my skin feeling soft and clean.

Proper , pink Camay soap.They did try to reproduce it but it wasn't ever the same.

TCP!!!

You can still get traditional TCP - I’ve got some.

Midas Bubble Bath and Avon Soft Pink Bubblebath.

Harmony hair dye in a triangular box. Also Toners and Shaders for a wash in, wash out colour.

Aapri facial exfoliater. It was, allegedly, made from finely ground apricot kernels and was excellent; smelt good too. Never found anything anywhere near as good.

Another product I liked was a shampoo called LincoBeer, it was in a little plastic beer barrel. Made my hair super shiny.

I can't remember the proper name but there used to be a shampoo that was advertised as being twice as thick as its rivals. Think it was green? They advertised it by dropping a precious gem into the bottle and seeing how slowly it sank to the bottom compared with others. Green Goddess? Maybe?

It reminds me of my mother..we both loved it .
Mornay French Fern was her favourite soup and mine was Sandalwood.

I love Savon de Marseille which is widely available.
And any product by the Spanish company Puig .
I've noticed that the soap and cologne have zoomed up in price .

Proper , pink Camay soap.They did try to reproduce it but it wasn't ever the same.

This is a very nostalgic thread, nearly everything mentioned rings a bell with me,

'Soir de Paris' in a little blue glass bottle
and 'Lady Manhattan' in a black glass bottle, I though I was so grown up when I was given a set of LM for Christmas with the perfume, talc and body lotion. Must have been late 60s early 70s

Flippinheck - my OH has the tin of Germolene his mum gave him when he went away to college in1967... I'm beginning to suspect we may be weird.

Camay soap and drene shampoo. My dad worked for procter and gamble and we always used this. Head and shoulders shampoo and of course Daz washing powder.

Vitapoint! Company closed down but someone restarted it, but it is not the same, more greasy, and the smell is nothing like the original.

Gosh, yes, I remember having a big yellow globe of Kiku talcum powder (before we learned it was dangeous). It had a tassel on the top and a big puff for slathering it on.

Cardamom, I am currently using Aapri exfoliating face wash! I agree that it’s the best one. I used to love the 70s perfume and talc sets for Christmas - Max Factor Electrique in a blue plastic container; Dorothy Gray Midnight in a navy blue container; Yardley something Jade in a green container; Avon Honeysuckle; No.7 Manana; Goya Gardenia and Goya Aqua Manda; loved them all.
