Is there a toiletry you can no longer buy and miss?

After my shower this morning I suddenly thought of how in previous years I always used Cussons Imperial Leather talc, especially in hot weather. It left me feeling dry and fresh and had a delicate 'clean' perfume. Not sure why it was stopped being produced🤔 Is there something you miss from years ago?

Just looked-yes they do and at £14.99 a pop
The colours are gorgeous. .

Bring back Kiku !
I loved Aqua Manda too .
I thought of Coty's Emeraude as well .
I used to love those nail polishes with elegant screw tops - Cutex?
Possibly Joan Collin's polishes replicate that fifties style.

Esmay

Faberge Kiku in that fabulous yellow packaging.
I had some as a gift at Christmas as an adolescent and fell asleep holding the heavy circular ball of scent.

I loved KiKu! I need a 'like' button for this thread - there are so many...

Not really a toiletry, Mary Quant perfumes - Quant AM and Quant PM

I particularly liked AM as it had a fresh herby smell and I have never found any other perfume that smelt anything like it. Also it one of the few perfumes that didn't react with my skin.

Pretty Feet!
It was brilliant for removing dead skin, but I haven’t seen it for years.

There's a Constance Caroll lipstick i had years ago, which i can't find, even though ebay sells a huge amout of Constance C. items.

I just can't remember the name of the shade for the life of me.

Ponds cold cream and Drene shampoo. My mother always used Ponds cold cream and her skin was lovely all her life. Drene came in little sachets. Also French's lemon cream shampoo in a tub

I liked tabu, also just musk, and the body shops musk oil. smile

I still use Ponds Cold Cream, great stuff and my DD brings home large jars of it from America. Only smaller sizes here.
Still available of course, is Vaseline and I use lots of it on my face, it removes waterproof mascara very well and my skin is in good nick.

Anyone remember Carmeline? Used for my stage makeup and I have a new batch from eBay.

Going back a thousand years, Mac Factor had a black mascara in I think a small blue tube. As it had no inner brush like today, I could ladle it on the accompanying separate brush and get a really thick effect. Really mourned that when it was discontinued.

Tabu anyone? Quite a musky smell.

Greyduster

Morny Sandalwood soap.
I have a third of a bottle of 4711 in my bathroom. I’ve had it far too long for it to be wearable, but I love the bottle, and the colour of the box fits in with the grey and teal colour scheme!

You can buy Morny sandalwood soap, I stocked up on French Fern recently:

I also loved Aqua Manda and there was one in an apple shaped bottle . Does anyone remember using Shaders and Toners just to pep up your hair colour for a couple of washes ?

Greenfinch Thu 28-May-26 11:32:49

My favour. Bought in Cologne. Glad it is still available here.

Does Wrights vapouriser count? Reminds me of childhood and being looked after when I was ill

Rowantree Thu 28-May-26 11:17:05

Aqua Manda and Morny smellies - June Roses was gorgeous, French fern, sandalwood.....

travelsafar - the long term use of talcum powder (5 years) is associated with ovarian cancer - if you're interested you can google this and find several papers on this link. There are legal cases now against Johnson & Johnson which produced baby talc, so heaven knows how bad all the other talcs with synthetic perfumes added actually were/are. Unfortunately, we don't find out about the damage we do to our skin and cancers generally until we're much older and the effects are seen. Surely the advice for our adult children and grandchildren is not to buy into this market and stick with something that's known not to damage our skin or cause cancer like organic coconut.

I remember Pretty Peach and Here's My Heart by Avon .
We only bought Avon at Christnas .
I don't remember the Avon lady calling .
There was a huge bottle of Topaz on Mum's dressing table.
She never used it .
My Grandma had a bottle of Electrique on her dressing table for years.
They both seemed to be for decoration .

ALEXA488 Wed 27-May-26 23:55:21

Oh dear, that last post was in answer to someone who posted about pretty peach from Avon. And I was so envious, not stood envious!

ALEXA488 Wed 27-May-26 23:45:20

My big sister always had that on her dressing table, and I was stood envious.

ALEXA488 Wed 27-May-26 23:43:53

Oh definitely Camay Soap! Also Close up toothpaste. Whenever I travel abroad I look out in pharmacies, as these products (and probably others) are still sold widely in some countries.

MissAdventure Wed 27-May-26 23:02:13

Olay Everyday Sunshine - a moisturiser/SPF that gave a very gradual light tan. Used to be readily available, and not too £££.
I’ve recently found it online, but it’s a lot more expensive.
You can get Olay Complete Everyday moisturiser with a tint/SPF in Superdrug. Apparently it’s not available to order but if they don’t have it in store you can order to pick up in store. I got some the other week.

Does it feel/look similar to Olay Everyday Sunshine? I’m another who used it for years and saddened to find that it’s no longer available in stores

Seems pretty similar. Worth a try. Actually Superdrug had a few moisturisers with SPF and a hint of gradual colour.

Aveline Wed 27-May-26 07:12:04

Oh Germoline! I can smell it now. Such a reassuring smell somehow.
