Good morning (just). It’s sunny here in coastal West Sussex but lots of cloud around too. I can’t remember what I posted earlier in the week but we should have been in West Yorkshire yesterday and today, visiting my cousin and then going on to a campsite in Teesdale. We left late Wednesday afternoon, intending to get as far as Brackley by mid-evening but less than a mile from home one of these torrential showers came on and we discovered the windscreen wipers weren’t working properly. They just shuddered and didn’t sweep across the screen. We u-turned and called at a local garage who took a look and thought it was the motor/s so we booked in for Thursday morning and went home again. We are still at home waiting for a call from the garage. We have been trying not to make a mess in the house having cleaned and tidied for our trip. We went to our local Wetherspoons for our evening meal last night (I like that I can get small portions there and everything is always well cooked). I did get a few extra things done in the garden while the sun shining - a few more plants out of pots into the ground.

That sounds like a lovely birthday Marydoll.
Good news of the little one Bellasnana.

DH has made coffee (I had to open a new packet, the one we were using is in the van along with our cheese, eggs, lettuce, marmalade …). Still we were lucky not to have been stuck on the motorway with no wipers and a hailstorm.

Onwards and upwards 😊

“Warm up a bit* 😊

Morning all

Bright, cool and breezy here this morning. I wish it would arm up a bit, I’m fed up with wearing winter clothes.

Will go in the garden after breakfast to cut the grass as it’s green bin day next week. All the rain we’ve had has made it sprout.

So pleased to hear your nieces little boy is back home and recovering, Bella. A huge relief for you all.

What gorgeous birds! Thanks for the photos!

Good morning, Michael12 and all!

It was very quiet last night, as it normally is, no blotto out of their skulls 15-year-old airhead bimbos bashing each other up!

Most of yesterday it was really heavily pouring with rain, it was very windy and cold, dark, then about 4 pm, just as I was closing the shop door and stepping onto the pavement, it came down again, but this time bringing tons of hailstones with it!

I love such weather, and even though the stones can seriously sting, I love them too, so I just took a leisurely 10-minute stroll home, getting saturated and bashed by the stones! It was all so great all day!

Have a good one!

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Another showery day in store.

Yesterday morning was a write off. I should have stayed in bed. I made a long and complicated drive on diversions and single track roads to my yoga class normally a 10min drive only to find there was none. The day continued thus until I went to view a house, in a sudden downpour but the agent didn't show up. I explored the pretty garden, chatted to the neighbours and may try again. It's a tiny ex Miner's cottage but on high ground.

My DF is staying here for a few days so hopefully he can help with house or garden things while I'm at work today.

I am glad to hear that your wee DGN is out of hospital Bella and your birthday went better than well Marydoll.
Glad too about the rats. corner 🐁 🐁 🐀
Not pleased to hear of more illnesses, difficulties and sorrows.
Blossoming and Kitty's DD

Hope everyone can find some joy today.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and damp Northampton, rain forecast again and only 8°C. I managed to avoid being out in any showers on my return from the hairdresser yesterday, but the heavens opened when I was on the bus coming home, luckily stopping when I got off at my bus-stop.

I made a huge chilli yesterday which I enjoyed with a baked potato for my dinner, and there are now 6 other portions chilling in the fridge waiting to go in the garage freezer! I decided I needed a new slow cooker so have ordered a new one from John Lewis. My current one seems to be overheating.

Dance classes this morning, coffee afterwards at the bakery.

Will need an early dinner as I am out to a rugby match this evening - hope the rain holds off!

Glad you had a lovely birthday Marydoll!

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Morning all from Kew. I got back from school a few minutes ago having dropped granddaughter off for her Choir meeting at 8 am.

When I’ve packed I’ll head off home. Not before 9 am though as I don’t want to get caught in the rush our on the M4.

I’ve had a lovely few days. I took the opportunity (after dropping S off at school) to spend a day at the V&A, a day at the National Gallery and an afternoon at Kew Gardens. Such nice shops too where I bought various things for me and for birthday presents.

Granddaughter is in year 5 and is going to her first school disco this evening! She and her friends have been planning what to wear. She told me this morning that three of them like the same boy! They’re only 10!

Have a good day everyone. I intend to get back in time for a hair appointment.

Good morning from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast.
Restful day yesterday after a busy time and I’m off to art group soon, then a local play tonight.
My iPad is only charging off and on, so I’m using my phone.

Glad to hear your news Bella and thoughts to all💐

Good morning from another rainy day in the Black Country. Rained off and on most of yesterday.

Hearing test went well. She said my hearing had gone down only slightly since the last one 5 years ago. Made impression for new moulds, so have to go back in a month for those. Then I had a wander around Merry Hill shopping centre which is nearby. Only bought a cap for MrJ, couldn't find anything I really liked.

DGD4 is taking a History GCSE today, just the one a year early as she is only 15 (next week)

Today we are having lunch out in Birmingham, with MrJ's 2 brothers, a cousin and their wives. So 8 of us.

Belated birthday wishes for Marydoll

Pleased to hear that the little boy is on the mend Bellas

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Marydoll Fri 15-May-26 08:11:23

Good morning from Glasgow, where it is 5°C and sunny.

Thank you all for your good wishes yesterday. I had a lovely time in the valley. I am afraid I got rather carried away at Rosemount, Baubles.
Spending so long there, I never even got to Silver Birch! 🤣
DS treated us to lunch, which was delicious.

My shadow, Babydoll, wouldn't leave my side the whole day. When she arrived in the morning, she told her daddy to go home, it was only to be she and Gaga, No papa either. Poor Papa! 😪

She refused to go home and told Daddy, she was staying.
It took three of us to get her into the car.🤣

My family were very generous with my gifts. DD arrived with a hamper, filled with my favourite treats, perfume and a Rennie Macintosh brooch, chosen by SIL.♥️
I am addicted to Lidl's midget gems, but I had run out. Inside the hamper were two packets of gems and two packets of Red and black gums! 🤣
DD had the cheek to ask for the wicker hamper back! It had been a gift from DS1 and she had decided she liked it too much for me to keep!🤣

Every time we returned from our trips to Rome, I would wander the BA lounge at Fumicino, lusting after designer handbags with no prices on display, I was too intimidated to go in the actual shops.
Yesterday, DH gave me a Valentino handbag, which I absolutely love.♥️

I am off out first thing to get flowers, hopefully from Lidl. Our flower arranger usually gets them from the flower market, but that is a step to far! It involves a motorway trip. 😱

It is going to be a long day. There is a funeral this morning, so I will need to wait until the church is empty, to fix the dying flower arrangements,
I have had a brainwave. Tomorrow morning, I am going to pad out the arrangements with rhododendrons from my garden, They only need to last long enough to get through the morning,
Late afternoon, I am meeting the teachers from my former school and one from the other school, to set up for tomorrow.
I am supposed to be retired!!.🤣

Thinking of all those, suffering with and supporting grandchildren during exam time.

Baubles, enjoy your meeting up. I know from previous experience, you won't be short of conversation, 😉

I am waiting for news from my friend,
He had to say his final godbyes and fly back from his critically ill sister's bedside last night, to his own wife's hospital bedside.
She is a transplant patient, who has contracted pneumonia.
He is broken.😪

Enjoy your day folks, whatever your plans. DH starts his new medication today. His GP has warned he hay feel unwell. Oh dear.😔

dragonfly46 Fri 15-May-26 08:07:29

How awful for your DD Kitty that would never have happened in a school when I was teaching how things have changed!

Grandmabatty Fri 15-May-26 08:04:38

Kitty that's awful for your dd. Hopefully she will find a better job now.

Good morning from a bright Suffolk after a dull, chilly day yesterday with torrential rain followed by sunny spells. I expect more today.

DH had asked our gardener if he could tidy up the area around the pond which is very overgrown. He said there was no rush so we were surprised to see N’s van when we returned from the dog walk. We discovered that there is a fence at the far side of the pond, hidden from us for 40+ years and probably for many more.

N had a bonfire with all the rubbish he chopped down….very strange to see fire during heavy downpours!

I’m getting the train to Woodbridge this morning to meet up with 2 dear friends from my working days. Our favourite place for lunch has reopened having been closed for a few months so I’m looking forward to eating there but more especially a long leisurely catch up with them.

I hope all have a good day with some sunshine, metaphorically if not actual.

Gingster Fri 15-May-26 08:01:13

Good morning all.
I missed posting yesterday as DIL picked me up early for a shopping trip.

Dd still unwell so will visit her today.
DGD as good as gold.

We won’t meet up with our Friday pals today.

Belated birthday wishes Marydoll. I hope you had a lovely day.💐

Take care all 🌺

Morning from a cool S Hants, possibility of frost again tonight, we had similar weather to Gagagran yesterday.
Better news Bellas of that young lad.
Progress on rat gate corner they are persistent little b*****s.
Window cleaner coming today and grocery delivery, I’m still coughing and sniffling, so may not go out tonight. I’m conscious it may be covid, but even so, don’t want to pass it on.
Should be MrJ’s last day on this job, last ⏰ going off at silly hour!

Good Morning from a brighter Berwick but it sounds windy and I guess still quite cool.
Good to read things are starting to improve for some. There’s been a lot of sad news recently.
We head home today after spending yesterday wandering into and around Berwick. A very interesting town in terms of its history.
We are heading home today, hopefully to a beautifully redecorated house. We haven’t heard from the decorator so we are assuming all has gone well.
Wishing the very best to our younger family members taking exams, we have one GD doing GCSEs and another A levels.
I’ll attempt to post the photos from our trip to the Farne Islands. They didn’t appear yesterday.
Take care everyone.flowers

brook2704 Fri 15-May-26 07:59:16

Oh my goodness kitty that’s dreadful, your poor DD - no wonder she’s had enough

Gagagran Fri 15-May-26 07:47:37

Good morning all from a sunny, central south coast. Still not warm and we are promised more showers. We had short sharp ones with some hail yesterday.

I had a fitful sleep worrying about DS being stranded with a broken down motorbike somewhere in the South Wales area. He should have been in the Isle of Man by today and in my middle of the night cogitations I envisaged him stuck on a wet and cold mountain side.
However, he is back at home with the trip postponed. I have just heard that he managed to get a repair done in Tewksbury, sufficient to get him home.
Do we ever stop worrying about our offspring?

DH is going for a coffee and cake cycle ride with his friends this morning and I have a Tesco delivery. I suspect a nap will also feature.

I went to WI yesterday and we had what started as an interesting talk by a retired member of the Queen's Guard but turned out to be very long and it got got quite boring. It needed pruning considerably! We also had another influx of former members of the adjacent WI, which closed recently and it has made the usual former cosy and friendly gathering feel more like a public meeting. One older member was heard complaining that she had even less chance of a win on the raffle with all these new ladies!

Hope you managed an enjoyable birthday Marydoll with your DH behaving himself!

Kind thoughts to all our strugglers and best wishes for some ease and comfort. sunshine

Georgesgran Fri 15-May-26 07:45:42

Good Morning from a bright, sunny Durham, but still so cold. We, too, had the hailstones yesterday - they pelted down and laid for a while before melting under heavy rain. My washing is still out on the line trying to dry!
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning, then I need to clarify what’s happening with Little Dog.

Best wishes to all. X

kittylester Fri 15-May-26 07:40:12

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

We are going to a friend's for coffee this morning and then have a free day.

DD3 has her final day as a TA at a village primary school today. In the last few weeks she has been bitten, pinched and pushed downstairs and has had enough.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Greyduster Fri 15-May-26 07:26:32

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is dry but cold. I slept a straight seven and a half hours last night.

We had a lovely end to the day yesterday - I managed some time on my knees in the garden waging war on weeds. Work still to do, but I’m pleased with the start. I also found a hefty sycamore sapling growing at the back of my rhododendrons which had found it’s way through the fence to next door’s garden so I cut it out at the root with the ratchet loppers before it caused a proper nuiscance and hope it won’t sprout again.

A short session at school this afternoon. If it stays dry I shall walk there and back.

Have the best day you can, folks.

monk08 Fri 15-May-26 07:23:39

Good morning all from a wet Black country.
Good news from Bellasnana and hopefully rat-gate will soon no longer be a problem.
I need to look for a new phone mine died on me yesterday evening it was that old about 15yrs pay as you go, phones have never been a priority to me just take it with me if I'm out topped it up every couple of months.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

luluaugust Fri 15-May-26 07:19:14

Good morning from a sunny W Kent which is lovely after yesterday’s torrential rain. A friend is coming this afternoon for tea and cake, looking forward to it good catch up.
Glad to hear the good news Bella
