Good morning from an overcast Bristol. I hope today’s forecast rain does happen. Yesterday’s was for about 1 minute and very light. We so need it.
We were quite busy at FABcafe in the morning, the usual lot but they seem to have mixed more than usual, which is nice. To my surprise, my favourite (youngish) volunteer came up to me and gave me a hug. Then another also volunteered a hug. That physical human contact from my two lovely male friends is something I miss so much. It was really sweet of both and made my day.
As people left earlier than usual, I came home and had time for a bit of a rest before going to the library, to lead the book group. The choice was Colm Toibin’s “The Magician”, a biography of Thomas Mann, plumped out with fictional thoughts. All the very many protagonists and events are true. It went really well as I led a conversation, rather than going round and asking each on their opinion. One of the five (3 were missing) thanked me for leading!
Today, t’ai chi and dinner at DD’s. I’ll be able to get news of DGD’s exams. I hope she does well as I’ve barely seen her with all her revision.
Hugs to all in need. Carpe diem 🐦‍🔥🦩🦩🦩🦩 (it’s a phoenix)

Good morning from Malta where we expect a partly cloudy day with a high of 22°C.

Picked the boys up yesterday and entertained them until 5.30. They were very good. We made a huge train track with DS’s old Brio train set which tgey played with for ages.

Had worrying news from my niece in Edinburgh. Her son (15 months) is in hospital after having febrile seizures.

He seems to be doing better but whenever he sleeps his oxygen levels drop quite low so they can’t release him until they get to the bottom of it.

He also fell out of bed yesterday and banged his head so is not having a happy time, poor little chap.

I have a free day today so will run some errands and do some cleaning. There’s a lot of sand in the air which makes everywhere so dusty, and eyes very itchy!

I’m very worried about madeleine as it’s such a long time since we heard from her. I miss her lovely posts.😞

Wishing a good day to all and best wishes to all going through difficult times. ☀️

Good morning from a damp Black Country where it rained overnight, and rained off and on most of yesterday.

Audiology appointment this morning at 9.15, so out early. I am having a hearing test, which is due as they only do this every 5 years. My hearing is definitely down, as I struggle to hear people chatting when out walking.

Hoping the medics get to the bottom of what is causing these seizures to your Great Nephew Bellas, a very worrying time for your Niece and the family.

Hopefully Madeline is just away on holiday.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning everyone!
Just been catching up with the last couple of days.
Belated happy birthday to Harrigran. 🎂
Susan56 you made me smile when you said you were allowed to sail at Moelfre. Perhaps your parents didn't know about the dangerous currents! 😯
So sorry to read about Blossoming's new health setback.
Like Bellasnanna, I hope all's well with Madeleine. I used to enjoy her vivid descriptions of beautiful Yorkshire.

We had a quiet day yesterday after a stormy night.
Today we're off to meet up with a friend who lives on Anglesey. She's the reason we discovered Anglesey as she met and married a local man over 30 years ago.
Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning from a bright sunny S E Essex 6°

No plans for today, I might pop up to Lakeside for a mooch round the shops.

The 11 yr old is here for his weekly sleepover tonight. He finishes SATS week this afternoon, four days of tests is a lot for year sixes.

Worrying for your niece and family Bellasnana

I do hope we here from Madeleine soon 🤞🏻

latedecember1963 Thu 14-May-26 06:30:36

Bellasnanna, my son started with febrile convulsions at a similar age. I can still recall the terror of witnessing the 1st one at home on my own with him. For him, they were connected to him getting sudden spikes in temperature due to teething.
He grew out of them and is now a great hulking 30 odd year old!
Very scary for your niece, though.

cornergran Thu 14-May-26 06:30:43

Morning Mick, morning All from a gloomy looking corner of Somerset.

Some heavy showers yesterday, a lot more forecast today. This morning brings a grocery delivery, ironing and a visit from the development area manager about rat-gate. We can only hope for action at last, there is both anger and growing distress at the delay.

Thinking of all with worries and challenges.

Have the best day you can everyone.

dragonfly46 Thu 14-May-26 06:34:51

Good morning from a sunny, chilly Leicestershire. I think we are promised more rain so doggy and I will be dodging the showers. I will also be wrapping up in winter clothes!

Nothing else planned today. We had a good visit to check up on our new hearing aids yesterday and podiatrist tomorrow. Getting older brings such excitement!

So sorry to hear about your nephew Bella I hope they can find out what’s wrong.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Grandmabatty Thu 14-May-26 06:50:54

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and dry. We had some rain off and on yesterday GrandMattie. Bellasnana I'm sorry to hear about the wee boy. I hope the hospital sort it out.
Yesterday was a very lazy day and I did little. Dinner was a stir fry with the veg at the bottom of the fridge with added pork cut into strips, all in a hoisin sauce.
Today I will head to the school library. Then I must pick up my prescription. Once home, the ironing is looking at me mournfully. Have a good day all.

Ashcombe Thu 14-May-26 06:52:19

Good morning from a distinctly chilly corner of La Sarthe! Our overnight crossing on Tuesday was smooth as was the journey from Ouistreham to DH’s home in La Sarthe which we reached by mid morning yesterday.

I’m glad you’ve found a car to suit you, RosesandLilac, but understand your comment regarding bells and whistles on your current one. I’m struggling with all the gizmos on my Puma which I recently bought to replace my much loved Fiesta which was written off whilst stationary! Old dog and new tricks springs to mind! (in my case!)

What good news regarding your DH’s vision, Sar53! You must be overjoyed!

I hope your great nephew soon recovers, Bellasnana. My DS suffered similarly when we were on holiday in France when he caught a virus when he was two. We were in the middle of nowhere at the time so a frightening episode. He’s now a very tall 45 year old (who still worries me but for other reasons!)

It’s a Bank Holiday here as it’s Ascension Day. Luckily, DH remembered in time to fetch a few essentials from the local supermarket so we won’t starve!

Wishing you all a good day.🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

baubles Thu 14-May-26 06:54:42

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s rather damp yet again.

How worrying for your niece Bella.

Childminding today but thankfully we no longer do the school drop off so no need for an early morning start.

Yesterday was a day at home doing a bit of this and that. Ironing, cooking, crocheting, it was pleasant to be occupied indoors as the weather was awful.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Jaxjacky Thu 14-May-26 06:57:44

Morning from cloudy S Hants, looks like rain again, we had hefty showers yesterday.
I’m still full of cold, I’d forgotten how yuk it can be.
Yesterday was token housework, today I must get two cards posted and order a flower delivery.
Take care all.

luluaugust Thu 14-May-26 06:58:40

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. We had rain and hailstones, thunder the lot yesterday. Off to art group this morning, three members are now very ill and unlikely to come back, we all miss them.
* Bella* hope you have better news of your G Nephew. 56 years ago I sat with my then neighbour whilst we waited for an ambulance for her small son with the same condition. He was fine and is now a gently greying 6 foot man
Best wishes to all

HelterSkelter1 Thu 14-May-26 07:05:14

Good morning from N Surrey where dark clouds are hovering over us. Yesterday we had heavy hail showers, thunder, strong winds, heavy rain, blue sky and sunshine. The temperature was up and down. Through all this the BBC on line forecast said light showers and gentle breeze. Like heck it was. The garden is drenched. I had hoped for some rain but not the heavy hail. Luckily I have no tender young plants out there.

I too am missing Madeleine's posts. On one of her last messages she said she had agreed to a commitment she was unsure about. Hopefully that was a holiday from which she will return soon.

brook2704 Thu 14-May-26 07:07:24

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cool with grey clouds
Sorry to hear about your nieces baby boy bellas hope he’s much better soon
Today it’s more volunteering, it’s a busy week this week. Other than that nothing planned except I do need to go into town sometime to collect an M&S order, it’s a few things for upcoming holidays so I hope they’re all ok.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

ginny Thu 14-May-26 07:08:22

Good morning. Another chill damp day forecast for N. Bucks. Yesterday we had lots of rain and several downpours of hail .
Today I have art, sewing and choir so busy and It’s also my turn to do tea and cakes at sewing. All prepared .
I’m away at the weekend from tomorrow afternoon so better start thinking about what to pack.
As always thinking of those with illness and worries and wishing a good day for all.

RosesandLilac Thu 14-May-26 07:13:48

Good morning, it’s bright here on the hillside in south Glos, big grey and white clouds are scudding across the sky - I can see them from my bed which faces the window.
We had several torrential downpours yesterday which were very welcome.
I hope you enjoy your Puma Ashcombe, I had one for a few months before the Focus. It was a hybrid but I simply didn’t do enough miles to keep the battery topped up. After 3 RAC call-outs for a flat battery in 3 months I had to change it. It was a beautiful car to drive, bright red 😍
Re my Focus, I have had it 4 years, 2 weeks ago I discovered first a hidden pocket then that it had different settings including ECO 🫣🙄😬😁 No, I didn’t read the handbook, it’s an inch thick!
It’s a lovely car but wasted on me, I know I’m going to love the Micra 😊, it’s zero car tax and very economical petrol-wise (the Focus isn’t!)
I enjoyed my zoom art class yesterday, my efforts weren’t so great but it’s very enjoyable chatting with everyone else online.
Today is housework.
Sending you all my best wishes x
🌹

Redcar Thu 14-May-26 07:21:28

Good morning everyone from a cloudy mid Essex. When I first got up at 6.00 it was sunny, but it has soon clouded over. Showers are forecast again. We had some short showers yesterday, not enough to even wet the garden!
I went for my usual walk in the morning and did some gardening afterwards. Then just pottered in the house.
More of the same today I think.

cornergran I hope there’s some action soon to get rid of the rats, or at least discourage them from coming into your gardens.

bellasnana I hope that the hospital get to the bottom of the problem with your great nephew. A worrying time for the family.

grannygravy I’m sure your 11 year old DGS will be relieved when the last of the SATS tests is over today, I know my 11 year old DGD will be happy this evening. I hope they’ve done well. Enjoy Lakeside!

Thinking of all who have medical appointments today and hoping they’ve done well go well.

Have the best day possible everyone.

kittylester Thu 14-May-26 07:24:06

Good morning all from a bright but cloudy North Leicestershire.

Yesterday we had lightening, hail, pouring rain and sun. We binge watched most of AmandaLand with the fire lit.

Today I am going to support our choir leader at a Well Being music session and we have a Sainsbury's delivery booked.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 14-May-26 07:28:07

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s nippy out. Alexa tells me it’s only going to reach 12°C today “with some sun and thunderstorms”! Does the weather know it’s May??

I’m having breakfast at the local garden centre this morning with my brother in law (my wingman) and his wife, then this afternoon I have a manicure booked. Snipped and gelled in pale pink with tiny white dotty dots is what I’m going for (should anyone be interested!).

And this evening I’m going to a local Am Dram theatre with 3 book club friends. “Mothers and Daughters” only £16 a ticket, duration 70 minutes. I’m looking forward to it, never been before. It’s good to try something new I think.

Right, I’ve got my TiB to enjoy and will read all your posts now.

Gagagran Thu 14-May-26 07:31:30

Good Morning all from a sunny and so far central south coast. I think we may get a repeat of yesterday when we shared your hailstones, rain and thunder lulu! Saves watering and the plants are happy to have real rain to drink and not the tap stuff!

I didn't make it to choir last night due to my painful back joining my other ongoing joint issues. The chairs in the Methodist church, where we meet, are not very comfortable and sitting for the two hour rehearsal causes extreme discomfort. I am going to try WI this afternoon and hope I can cope with the chairs in the village hall. Feel very frustrated at all this reduction in activities.

Our new patio furniture still hasn't turned up although the new parasol base did yesterday. DH is going into track it down mode today.

DS should be crossing to the Isle of Man from Liverpool this evening and hopes to see our family members there. My brother is still in hospital but so far so good with his half foot healing well and no sign of infection. My poor nephew is very restricted in any movement following his detached retina surgery.

Take care everyone and hopefully the day will bring some ease and comfort to all carrying burdens or with troubles of any sort. sunshine

Marzipan22 Thu 14-May-26 07:53:34

Good morning from Cornwall where it's bright and breezy. Hopefully it will rain later as my patio plants really need it.

Yesterday I finished dismantling a lovely yellow single bedstead which is now too bulky for my rearranged art room and have stored it wrapped in plastic sheet in my downstairs workroom until the Cornwall Air Ambulance charity van can collect it.

Argos are delivering my new day bed later. I've bought tons of stuff from them and I love that their drivers keep in touch about the precise timing ('Hello, we're 20 minutes away') so I don’t have to hang around all day; that they actually find my incredibly hidden flat (no door number, no door bell, big padlocked gate); that they manage to park on a very busy bus route and then carry my bulky deliveries through a very narrow passage and up stairs. Always done with a smile. Last time it was a freezer and they unpacked it for me, which was an unexpected extra.

Then I'll have the delight of flat-pack assembly, something I really enjoy! A bit like giant Lego with nuts and bolts really. 😆 Plus I'll make bolsters and cushions from denim to create a sort of sofa. An exciting day for me! 😂

Marydoll Thu 14-May-26 07:54:47

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 7° C, with thunderstorms predicted.
Yesterday , we had awful hailstorms.

DH had a GP consultation yesterday. His diastolic readings are causing concern, as well as his very high systolic readings. Consequently he is now on a third BP medication. 😪

Afterwards, we went for a fish tea, which was delicious.
Unfortunately, when I got home, I had a severe diverticulitis attack, probably triggered by all the stress.
Dollie and her mum popped in, which really cheered both of us up.

When I popped into the pharmacy, I mentioned my controlled drug pain killing patches were faulty (falling off after only hours) and I offered the batch no. The pharmacist explained that they no longer report this and to tape it on with a dressing! 😧

Today is my birthday and DS2, with Babydoll in tow, is coming to take me out. Perhaps a visit to that famous garden centre in the Clyde Valley, Baubles.
I am so looking forward to it, but a little anxious about my stomach.

Blossom's news has really upset me, she has been a kind GN friend to me. ♥️

I wish you all a pleasant day and hugs for the all mountaineers.

Liberty Thu 14-May-26 07:57:57

Good morning from a very damp and chilly Suffolk after a very odd day weather wise yesterday. It alternated between very heavy cloud bursts with a very loud thunderclap, hail and bright blue skies and sun.

On my way back from my keep fit class, I saw a large hare bounding across the fields and just now,a younger one leaping down the drive. In all our 40+ years here,I’ve never seen one in the garden.

I’ve decided to give my stretch class a miss this morning as my arm is tender after my COVID jab yesterday and I feel quite tired. A more leisurely start to the day seems in order. I have my annual review at the surgery late morning and then home to an easy afternoon of reading I think.

I hope today is a good one for all.
