A very quiet day here today. Heard that DD will be here on Saturday. I can’t wait to see her.

That’s really good news Castle so pleased your DD is visiting, I’m looking forward to seeing my DD2 and the DGC over the weekend too
What a long dental appointment nannytopsy, well done for getting through that, hoping the follow up appointment isn’t too bad.
We were in bed and enjoying a large cup of tea by 9pm last night, travelling always tires me out even though you’re sat down most of the time and not doing much. Today I’m looking forward to a lazy day at home, I’ve some holiday washing to do and maybe a wander around the garden as everything seems to have grown a lot whilst we’ve been away. DH will go to Tesco and get a few things just for today and I’ll do a bigger shop tomorrow.
Hope the plumber has arrived ok redcar
Enjoy your strength and balance class grannmarie and then lunch with your friend
Thoughts with all those in the quiet corner, take care all x
brook the plumber arrived at 7.50! He’d finished by 9.00, all ok for another year 🤞. I’ve cleaned the shower tray and the basin in the bathroom, also the kitchen sink. I may go for a walk in a minute, depending on the black clouds outside!
Have a lazy day recovering from your holiday.
Hello kitchen people.
I seem to have missed the Good Morning post for today!
I’m still in Malta where it’s scorchio🌞
We visited a Vineyard this morning where we sampled three different wines - not teensy amounts either! At lease there was cheese and biscuits too. So before noon we were a group of faintly giggly old people! We also visited a glass blower where I bought my granddaughter her holiday present - glass marbles and sweets. Finally a jeweller where I bought silver filigree earrings for me. After we got back to the hotel OH and I staggered about half a mile in the heat to a lovely restaurant for lunch with a beautiful view.
Have a good day everyone.
Llfl sounds like you had a good time trying the wines enjoy the rest of your stay.
Nannytopsy that's a long time to be in the dentist chair🙄
Hope you enjoyed your balance class and lunch Granmarie.
I'm another who finds travelling tiring Brook.
We are having son and daughter and families this weekend they have requested takeaways ,will need a mortgage to order enough to fill them 😱
NannyT...you are a very brave lady. I have an utter fear of dentists( probably due to the fact the my Dad died due to medical negligence by a dentist, he was aged 42 and I was 9). I do my best when I have to go but noway would I have lasted 3 hours.
LLFL...wonderful image of you and the OH staggering along a cobbled street.
Brooke...the holiday sounds fabulous..we watched a programme about that train journey fairly recently (it was wintertime though wth lots of snow);and decided we'd like to do it. Be kind to yourself , the washing will still be there tomorrow.
Redcar...that was a result even if it was an early start. I hope you managed to get a walk between the showers.
Castle...enjoy that big hug with your daughter, she will need it as much as you need to give it.
Hulahoop....make the most of your time with everyone...it's precious and memories are made...hang the cost...as my Mum used to say...there are no pockets in shrouds and it's true. Enjoy the now.
I have had a full on day....Ddog 3 to the groomer first thing, then a visit to the little family I support. The baby I witnessed being born is now over 18lb. I can hardly lift her. I think I'm going to regret teaching the 17 month old Horsey Horsey, she is a little chunky monkey too and my thighs feel battered. After picking up the dog it was a mad dash to change into suitable funeral the cremation clothes...a beautiful service and very fitting for a lady who was lovely in every way. A mad dash home again another change and off to the vets with Ddog3 for his 6mth check up and booster. It was the same vet who put Ned to sleep 2 years ago and Luna last week. It was the same room and I did have a lump in my throat but it soon went when Finlay tried to wee up the examination table. It was cathartic for the vet and I to be with a very much alive and well pup. We are having 10oz steak tonight...grass fed apparently....now I know I'm blonde but I thought cows did eat grass anyway.
Good evening kitchen folk. Llfl what a lovely holiday. Neine Horsey Horsey is still popular here. The 7 year old sits on my knee (with his body bum) and kills himself laughing.
Today I went to the school library and tidied up for a while. Then home and fis little again. The weather has been horrible- cold, wet and windy- and I haven't wanted to do anything. So lots of reading and watching tv. I made macaroni cheese and it was much nicer than the last dish. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk
*Boney bum
That’s good service Redcar and ticked off for another year
It’s been on and off rain all day here too, the holiday washing has been in and out a few times, it’s now drying on the airer inside - I should have just put it on there this morning 🙄
I did a bit of gardening in between the showers but not much else, the day has passed really quickly though. Tomorrow evening DD2 is away to an event so DGD is coming to stay over, she’s also bringing their new puppy Molly with her. That’ll be a new experience for us so hope it works out ok …. I’ll not get to see DGS as he’ll be with his dad as he’s a basketball match the next day.
Llfl sounds like my sort of day 🍷
Hi 👋 neine good to see you here
Enjoy your weekend with the family hulahoop, I know what you mean about the takeaways!
When I’d recovered from my early start to the day, I walked round to the charity shop in the village with a bag of summer clothes which no longer go round me. I dodged the showers and was at home when the deluge hammered down,
I carried on with sorting out old paperwork and got rid of some really old information about my pension. I also seem to have acquired quite a few photos of people I’ve never heard of, never met and who died when I was a child. There is no one alive now who would know who they are, so they’ll go in the bin.
neine that was a really busy day! It must be rewarding to see the baby you saw being born doing so well.
llfl what a lovely way to spend a morning! Maybe a snooze after lunch to recover?
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.
Hi all, another blustery, showery day. I did get to the village butcher and spent the vouchers MrJ won recently, plus a few more ££’s, bbq food - ever the optimist and venison sausages.
I’m being bitten overnight, he’s fine, so I’ve bought a plug in mozzie thingy.
It’s the getting back again though llfl!
Ours needs serviced in August Redcar, I’ll checked the carbon monoxide alarm at the same time.
Busy indeed neine met yourself coming back.
You’re braver than me Nannytopsy, my teeth are shocking, inherited from the wrong parent, my Mum, both siblings have Dad’s teeth.
Good your settled back brook marvellous holiday.
I shall finalise my delivery for tomorrow, it’s nearly as tedious as actual food shopping.
Have a pleasant evening all in particular the quiet corner x
I’m back home after dinner on the marina with my hairdresser and her husband Paul whom I’d never met this evening. What a wonderful couple and such an enjoyable evening I’ve had.
This afternoon my grief blindsided me and I cried inconsolably, doing few of the chores I had planned - so this evening lifted my spirits and I’m back in the saddle for the rodeo ride once more after losing my way momentarily today.
I’ve put my PJs on and switched on the kettle feeling so much calmer once more. I’m fortunate to have such good friends to help me up when I lose my footing and my confidence.
You’re a brave soul fgt.
and a hug.
Thank you corner
As our Yorkshire Lass said this afternoon when she rang, “ah mum it’s not even 4 months yet since dad died, you’re doing so well in all this”
I visited my mum this afternoon taking her cat deterrent and some cedar moth repellent. After 5 minutes she said she thought she could smell them already. They were still packaged. It was my perfume she could smell. I might be less generous in future
FGT I’m in awe of you, your DH would be so proud. Safe trip home.
Nearly packed and ready to go.Tomorrow morning we will Take Spiros to his 5 star hotel I just hope he enjoys it as much as last time.
We can check our luggage in tomorrow afternoon and as we live about 20 minutes from Heathrow it’s worth doing. Our flight is very early on Sunday so will be easier not to worry about luggage. We have assistance at both airports it’s
well worth doing.GS1 arrives on Monday and is really looking forward to it.We will eat out mostly but need to stock up on snacks as he’s always hungry!
Thinking of you all will send some pics from Corfu.
yiayia I hope you have a trouble free journey and a relaxing holiday.
fgt wishing you an easy journey home tomorrow. Well done for travelling alone! I’m sure your family will be pleased to have you safely home!
I spent this morning sorting through paperwork and throwing out stuff that I’ve kept unnecessarily! The shredder has been working hard. Another successful session at lunchtime bingo - I won £20 so am in profit. It won’t last, it’ll be about 6 months until I win again I’m sure.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.
Evening all I’ve just ordered a cocktail on the marina before I get my taxi back up. I’ve got sandy feet and the ‘beautiful people’ are beginning to arrive for their Friday evenings. Lovely scents of expensive perfumes and aftershaves are wafting about … I need to make myself scarce soon I look like something the cat has dragged in! 😮
‘Zut alors!’
There are now 19, yes 19! happy but rowdy French men at the tables next to me! I can hardly hear myself think 😁
Golf?
A stag doo?
Anyway they are all in very high spirits!
“Taxi! …”
Enjoy your last evening FGT, himself would be proud of you.
Exciting Yia have a wonderful time, especially with your son joining you.
That made me laugh Castle 🙂
Friday necessary housework done between us, Tesco delivered and we’ve enjoyed pleasant company in our local, it was pretty busy tonight.
I hope you’ve all had a decent day.
Castle 😂 Yiayia have a lovely time. So jealous as I love Corfu

Have you ever had a Long Island Iced Tea? Absolutely lethal yet delicious. The first one I had was in a bar in Canal Street with my son. He was doing a Masters on Gay Manchester.
No I haven’t LLFL but that cocktail is the absolute favourite of one of my sons in law! 💪
My sons came out to Corfu last year, ended up having 3 Long Island teas each, they were absolutely wrecked🤣🤣
For those of you who know Manchester as several obviously do, I had my first Long Island Iced tea in the cocktail bar in Cloud23 the iconic bar in the Hilton.
I have had just one or two since but have given them up as they really are lethal, although delicious.
