Morning all from a rather wet Devon. Our holiday house is beautiful and we are not far from the sea. I have booked lunch for us nearby and afterwards we will find a beach. OH wants to look at the sea.
Have a good day.

Good Morning Sunday 7th September 2025
(45 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Todays plans are housework ,and relaxing at home watching both the tour of Britain and the Tour of Spain cycle races especially the British riders in both races .
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning everyone! Hope you have a lovely day ahead.
Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
I have wakened later than usual, however my sleep was intermittent. I seem to have done something to my leg, when I recently fell and the pain in it and the usual hip pain led to yet another disturbed night.
I'm now harassed, for I am off to church, a few things to do for the P.P
GM, you sound quite bright today.💗
Yesterday, there was an afternoon tea, with Prosecco in our beautifully decorated, Parish Hall, to raise funds for taking disabled pilgrims to Lourdes.
There must have been about one hundred and fifty ladies, who lunch there! So good to see our hall being used.
Much to my regret, I couldn't go, as I was on duty.
With everything which has been going on, I haven't been able to pack for our trip away tomorrow with Babydoll and her parents.
DH and my other children do not wish us to go, for fear something happens. I explained that they do have an NHS in England and am well prepared, with all my medical history at hand.
Do I have to live with their anxiety and restrictions for the rest of my life?
Georgesgran, guess where I will be visiting ( I hope) on Tuesday?
I did not see your post about your husband jamesand john, I hope he is not too unwell.
That is the nature of the thread, people miss things. I have no expectations of posters mentioning me I suspect I irritate more than a few.😉
I need to dash, I'm running so late! I will come back later to read.
Best wishes to all our poorlies..
Morning all. Don't know if you all know about the emergency alert that will sound on your phones and vibrate at 3pm today . It's a government thing . So if you or loved ones startled at noises make sure you are safe .
Good morning all and another lovely day forecast for here in Essex.
Yesterday the coach trip to Audley End was perfect. Good journey both ways, lovely company and a beautiful house and gardens to explore. The weather was ideal too.
Greyduster I hope youv e recovered from the dog incident. It does make me cross when dogs who should be on leads, aren’t reliable. My little pooch has been set upon so often by bigger dogs , that she’s very wary now and won’t socialise or play with other dogs.
Today Dd and DGD might come for lunch , I haven’t heard yet .
There’s a Flower Show in town so we’ll probably walk up and have a wander round. Autumn displays 🍁🍂
DS2 and family are at our seaside cottage for the weekend , taking MIL and their dog. They always have good weather when they go there.☀️.
Take care all and enjoy the day 🌼
Good morning all from Stockport.
It has been a very warm night and we are forecast a damp if not wet day.
My visit to my friend last evening was very pleasant but the Chinese takeaway was disappointing.
Our regular place closed a few months ago and after trying a few new to us we have not found a good replacement.
I too have free electricity this weekend, I used the tumble dryer yesterday for bedding and towels, I can no longer peg washing out, but have no plans yet for today’s bonus.
Have the best day you can today.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Bright and dry so far.
Thanks for the reminder warning Whiff ⚠️
How awful for you Greyduster. I hope you are alright?
The adrenaline keeps you going when you have a shock like that, only later do you realise what's hit you.literally
Superb cake. Well done to the GD
My day went seamlessly yesterday. We took in about £100 for the bric a brac and there's still most of it there for today. That money will go to charity. I sold plenty of pots though also had orders so plenty to keep me busy.
I presented the award to the worthy winner of the art prize and went to the excellent Folk, Scottish, Gaelic, Blues, eclectic concert in the evening.
Quaker meeting this morning, followed by a soup lunch which I'm
about to make.
It's my Helper's last day . It will be strange to be on my own again.
Have a good day everyone.
Superb cake kitty!
A second Good morning from a less mardy Madeleine! Now with the miracles of hot showers and hot coffee am looking and feeling a bit better than earlier. Still creaking and wont be doing the great north run this morning, but at least feel clean and less creaky and you are safe to stand down wind of me now!! If I was on desert island discs, no matter what I would like to have as my luxury , I would have to have a hot shower, and cheat a bit and have an everlasting cup of hot coffee waiting for me as I got dried!!
Sorry to hear about you with the dog Greyduster, and hope that you are now feeling a bit more yourself, but it does shake you up so much doesnt it? I hope that the owner has learnt his lesson and keeps it on a lead in future. Whatever happens they always say "its never happened before" but if they had simply thought a bit more they could see the possibility of problems! I do think that many people got dogs during the covid situation, and so did not take them to any training , or have experienced dog owners to tell them what they need to know. It is a shame when most of the local dog owners are very law abiding and do their best, when some rogue owner behaves in a stupid and selfish way, getting a bad name for all owners.
In our local Cafe Nero, well behaved dogs are welcome in a certain area, and early on in the day there are many dog walkers who come in for a coffee and a meet up, and the dogs are all extremely well behaved and quiet and out of the way. The other day a woman came in with a very yappy small dog and proceeded to sit down with a friend, ignore the dog and just talk to her friend . The dog continued in a high pitched yap which was very irritating and I saw many other people looking across at her but of course the british way of looking but doing nothing. I went across and asked her to take the dog outside and quieten it down and bring it back in. She looked a bit taken aback, but as I said to her, you are giving the dog owners a bad name and the cafe could decide to ban them, when they are making as much noise as your dog is. I then said nothing more , but just stood there looking at her. She realized that I intended to stay there until she did something and then picked up the dog and flounced out of the door. The dog duly quietened she returned and I said simply Thankyou and returned to my seat. It seems that these days people are just involved with their own doings and give little consideration to other peoples comfort or needs.
Ah ha, even got a bit of sunshine now at last and the wind has picked up quite a bit more than a breeze now, so if I find the energy I may even wash my precious cashmere jumper and dry it outside , which I much prefer. So from a happier Madeleine I wish you all a lovely day that gets better as it goes on.
Morning from hazy sun in S Hants, no rain forecast, good as we too have free electricity so it’ll be a towels wash later.
Not surprised you were shocked Greyduster we’ll do e on keeping your balance.
Happy holiday Glammagran ☀️
A better nights sleep for me, so it’ll be garden today, collecting seeds and oiking finished annuals out before the ground is composted at a later date.
Meat draw and a chase the ace prize of £6k plus in our local, it’ll be very busy!
A 👋 to Blossoming and others who are poorly.

Good Morning from a wet Co Armagh where the rain is bouncing off the patio tiles
I have washing draped over the clothes horse , I was too poorly to do it yesterday , and missed the drying winds
I enjoyed my holiday last week , but I don’t think I’ll bother again , east west homes best 😉
Greyduster what a dreadful and frightening experience for you. I hope the owner is well and truly shaken up and will learn from this
I have had at least 3 horrible encounters with loose dogs
A loose great dane attacked my sheepdog cross, on a lead on the sand dunes at ogmore and ripped her belly from back to front. That owner scarpered without a word
Then on a horse and a dog consistently charged out of a garden to chase my young horse, every time I went on that route. The police dealt with that, spoke severely to the owner
Another time, a rottweiler chased my dd on a pony, catching hold of the pony`s tail. The police also dealt with that
Good morning from a dull northwest coast. Quiet day decluttering yesterday.
FaceTime with DD in the south early this morning, she’s such a help to me. I’m redecorating ‘her’ bedroom here and we are working together on choosing wallpapers etc. Also my hidden leak in the bathroom which is worrying me.
Off for a little walk into the dunes and then the day is my own.
Very unsettling Greyduster. Thoughts to all🌺
It is absolutely torrential here and has been for quite some time, I shudder to think I might have been out in this
No idea where my post has disappeared to 🤷♀️
Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday 🙋♀️
A late Good Morning from a blustery, cloudy Durham. Great North Run day today - the biggest half marathon in the World!
Shall I warn retailers you’ll be here on Tuesday MD but more seriously, don’t over do things.
As you say Greyduster it could’ve been a lot worse, so try not to dwell on the ‘what if’s’. I hope you feel better.
I’m having a relaxed day, so, with 2 hours free electricity, I’m organised and tackling 3 loads - far better than the odd hour here and there that Octopus usually offer.
Best wishes to all. X
Late good morning from a rainy and dull Black Country, albeit still warm,
Arrived home from our Hotel about 10.00am after a pleasant evening in a social club where they were raising money for Cancer Research. In total £1660 was raised. MrJ's brother has just finished treatment for cancer, so there were many family and friend of his there.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Pottering day today, where I have a pile of ironing I can ignore no longer!
Glammagran, have a lovely holiday. DH and I loved Crete and holidayed there several times. The last time we stayed in a little fishing village near Chania, Almirida
DD and her DH went last year and loved it, and they go again in a couple.of weeks..
Best holiday wishes again. xx
Georgesgran, I don't think the retailers have anything to worry about.
I prefer to shop alone, family can be so judgemental!! 🤣
