It is clearly because when you are out your DH is wearing your tees and the belt of his trousers is causing the holes.😆

I think it is the button on trousers above the zip. I rarely wear these now and it seems to have drastically lessened the holes.

I don't have this problem. Interesting so many ladies have it though.
I hang tops with the body of the garment over the line, pegs under the arms. If it a woolly garment, tights through the arms, pegs on tights.
Otherwise dry flat.

Mmm .. I've wondered whether it's caused by pegs on the washing line .. I've started hanging with 4 pegs .. so ...

I think there is an improvement ..

I have holes in my t shirts exactly level with the work top and edge of sink.
I think the friction against the work top and the zip or button on trousers causes the problem.

Hmm. More likely zip from tummy than housework! Although my zips seem fairly tucked away I will investigate. Car seat belt maybe, but why now? Been driving for years and years! Maybe a zip/seat belt combo!

I’ve discovered that these holes that I see when I hold my t-shirts up to the light, can be caused by leaning into the shop counter where I work. Our counter is made of some sort of marble effect stuff. Try googling it.
..after all are moths really that intelligent that they’d all gather around the same area of a garment.
Do you spend a lot of time at a kitchen work-top or the kitchen sink unit?

It took me ages to work this one out . It’s the pull thing on the trouser /jean zip. I was fine until I got a bit of a meno belly which pushes the zip out a bit . I don’t get the holes on tops I wear with leggings .

My mum’s t shirts are exactly the same. She can’t work out what does it either.

Could it be a car seatbelt rubbing?

Littleannie Wed 30-Jul-25 14:42:05

I have the same problem. Is it the zip on our trousers?

This may sound ridiculous but it's beyond a joke! I keep my t shirts hanging in a wardrobe, shared with my husband. Some time back I noticed the t shirt I was wearing had a small pattern of holes just below my navel. Old t shirt, moths, I thought. Threw it away. Then there was another. And another. And another. All with holes in the same place. I stopped wearing a belt but I've worn a belt for years without this happening. Nearly all my t shirts are the same now, regardless of thickness or age.... My husband's, same wardrobe, absolutely fine. Yesterday, I was in a small clothes shop for the more mature lady, and overheard a lady at the till chatting to the sales assistant, saying she was replacing a t shirt with holes in that she couldn't account for.... Is it me????
