Terribull do you mean that your DH is sadly departed or his hair?

Be grateful that they haven't discovered your expensive shampoo and use it leaving the top off and it gets knocked off the shelf spilling the contents !

Yes Head and Shoulders not good for coloured hair. My husband uses whatever I buy, which is often a "colour restorer" product, he's prone to remark, tongue in cheek, "it never restores my colour" long since departed

There's that shampoo that returns grey hair to dark again...can't remember the name. Aimed at men, though.

I found the stash - by the White Company. It has conditioner in it too! Apparently out of stock because he bought it all up?! He'd make a good advert though! 🤣

My DH has a thatch on his head. I've never seen hair grow so quickly and thick on a 60+ year old. He used a nice shampoo in a hotel once and ordered 12 bottles. I'll go and check the name in a minute.

His shampoo costs between £8 and £12 depending where you buy it , made by Kloraine. It’s his only extravagance and does last a long time.
Ads featuring men are Head ‘N’ Shoulders ( if you have coloured hair never use this as it strips colour out) also men are in Caffeine shampoo ads as it’s aimed at men for hair loss.

There’s hardly a day goes by when I don’t see the advert for Head & Shoulders shampoo featuring a man with a lovely head of hair 🤢

Back in the sixties I used Brecks shampoo - I wish you could still get that. DH was a Wash and Go man, and always used Wrights Coal Tar soap in the shower. These days I use Simple shampoo and Simple body wash which doesn’t dry my skin out. I can’t remember if any of the above were advertised on tv.

It is interesting to see just how many adverts are targeted at women. There is everything from holidays to exercise bikes but far less targeted directly at men.

I long for the days each manufacturer had 3 types of shampoo normal,greasy and dry. Same with toothpaste used to be children's and adults . Even buying a toothbrush isn't simple anymore .

My father in law always used sunlight soap for washing his hair and body. It lasted forever.

My husband used head and shoulders even on his full beard and my shower gel.

Shampoo in sachets meant you could choose which you liked. Remember the days when there where free sample packets of new food products that used to be pushed through the letterbox.

That's why I like shopping online no endless walking round the shop trying to find what you want because they have moved it or changed the packaging.

I didn’t know you had dandruff is the only shampoo I’ve ever seen aimed at men.
But as has already been said, it’s women who buy the stuff that makes your hair glossy, silky, etc.

I wish all shampoos offered sachets still. I have just bought a bottle of a new to me shampoo which I used and don't like. Yet another in the bathroom cupboard!
DH uses a shampoo bar soap bought for him by DD1.

I use castile soap for all washing, including what little hair I have left. I suffered a bad bout of excema about twenty years ago and became very selective about products with ingredients that are not natural.

Who is is that watches a shampoo ad showing a woman dreamily lathering up her boobs, and at the end of it has no idea what the label on the bottle was?

Men.

Who is it that notices the name and ignores the boobs, then goes to the supermarket and actually buys the shampoo?

Women.

Who is it that uses whatever is in the bathroom?

Late DH used whatever shampoo and conditioner that I used. My sons use both too.
It’s just not worth the expense of advertising , except “head and shoulders”, as men are less bothered or vain about their hair than women.

My DH says he is fine just using a bar of soap.

It almost makes me wonder why ladies are not fine if they were to wash their hair with a bar of soap.

I’ve just remembered those shampoo sachets! There is a man in the Head and Shoulders ad.

I remember being puzzled when I started going to the Bodach’s parents’ house, and he would give his mother 4d to buy him a sachet(!) of Vosene in the wee shop across the road. In the bathroom was a bottle of Vosene ( stepfather’s) and one of Corimist ( mother’s). He would not have dared used either of them, and I still find myself looking for Vosene in shops.
You are correct though, that men’s shampoo is never advertised, though wasn’t there one which was supposed to stop hair loss?

When he did, he just used whatever was in the bathroom. My son works on the same basis, but over the years has used styling products aimed at men, depending on how he was wearing his way the time. My father had a full head of thick hair, and also used whatever shampoo was to hand.
