Just as an aside my DH, when doing our family history over the last 40-odd years, discovered that I am related to Oliver Postgate!

From my childhood, "Listen with Mother" always at quarter to two. My mum told me that my brother, when he started school, used to put his head down on his desk in the afternoon and have a nap as he was so used to listening to it at that time!
I still remember two of the stories from it - "The Snail who Went to China" and "The Rabbit who had Too Many Cabbages." My other favourite was Picture Book on Watch with Mother. I made macaroni necklaces painted with water colour paints and also Chinese Lanterns (the paper ones with slits in them, not the balloon ones), which I made many years later with my children and grandchildren.

From my children's childhood Play School and Rainbow. They loved George the Hippo!

My older GC loved Toby's Travelling Circus, and my youngest GD now love Hey Duggy and Bluey.

I used to watch all the Watch with Mother programmes (I suppose it would have to be called ‘Watch with a Parent or Guardian’ nowadays!🙄). I loved them all, but I must admit that Postman Pat is one of my favourites (watched by our children in the 80s) and, more recently, Hey Duggy, watched by our grandchildren.
‘In the Night Garden’ is just weird, almost as weird as ‘The Magic Roundabout’! I’m sure the writers were on something.🤣

Does anyone remember Crow and Alice I know Crow was a crow but cannot for the life of me remember what Alice was.

Oh yes. Bizzy Lizzy! My mum made me a corduroy pinafore with a flower on the pocket like Bizzy Lizzy. Happy memories. I loved Windy Miller. The music when he walks out of the windmill is in my head now …. And I loved Tales from the Riverbank. Although putting little hamsters into jackets and sticking them in a toy plane doesn’t seem so nice now 😜

My husband has just reminded me that his friend went on Mastermind with Trumpton as his specialist subject. I promise he isn't making it up.

One programme I don't like that is for today's children is The Midnight Garden. It's a bit creepy!

I loved Trumpton, Camberwick Green and Chigley, narrated by the incomparable Brian Cant, as a small child. They were, believe, the first children's programmes made in colour, although colour TV was many years into the future for most of us as it was so expensive. I would have been one of the first viewers of these programmes in the late sixties. I also liked Bizzy Lizzy with her dress with the magic flower, The Pogles of Pogle's Wood and The Herbs, with Parsley the Lion et al. Delightful programmes.

Now this is going back. Anyone else remember Prudence Kitten? We didn't have a TV at home but my grandparents did and I was enthralled with Prudence. I think she had an Uncle who was a sailor. Or am I muddling that up? I was around 5 at the time.

Did anyone else like 'Will Quack Quack', a Welsh made children's cartoon that was evidently created by David Jason's late partner? Pussy Cat Willum, Robin and Rosy, Bagpuss, and the lovely Trumpton characters. Gentle and happy memories of sitting with the children, watching the programmes - I ache for those days, sometimes.

My children loved Camberwick Green, etc., Bagpuss, Mr. Benn and Chokablock!

I live in the village that was the inspiration for Camberwick Green. The villages that were immortalised as Trumpton and Chigley are just three miles away. There actually used to be a windmill in this village although there's no trace of it now. Sadly, our little village is under threat of being overwhelmed by huge new housing estates.

We didn't get a tv until I was 7 although we used to watch Rin Tin Tin at a friends house before Brownies every week. I find the trouble with modern childtren's tv is that it always seems to be loud and shouty with loud music. The gentler ones like Peppa Pig seem few and far between.

We didn't have a television until I was about seven and I can remember the first programme I watched was Bill and Ben, the Flowerpot Men, with Little Weed. I was probably too old for that type of programme but it was such a novelty I enjoyed it, as well as Muffin the Mule.

There were other programmes about animals, I'm sure it was David Attenborough who presented some of them. Was it Zoo Quest?

We didn’t have a TV when we were little, but I remember the WoodenTops. We do a movement at Aquafit that reminds me of how Spotty Dog walked.
