Clothes wise, I'm sure if you are a size 10 or 12 (or maybe a 14) you can find things "in the shops" but finding larger clothes in a style you like if you are "plus" size is nearly impossible. If you also know what styles are most likely to work and tend to buy (nearly always) natural fabrics then you can make an educated selection online.
Yes it's expensive to order 5 things when you just want one but if you return the rejected ones swiftly they can come in and out on the same credit card bill.
Would I like to go to one shop and try 20 garments on? Yes, if it was possible. Given my preferences in clothes it hasn't been possible for at least 40 years.
For some of us, "online" opens up a much wider choice than the high street ever could.
