If you don't laugh, you'll cry. WFA

I have just found a flaw in all this. If we, oldies, are too strapped for cash to pay our fuel bills, we wont be able to afford to buy crisps either!

Oh dear, I haven't laughed so much for ages reading these.

If he cuts out the free bus pass you'll need a pair of roller skates and a brolly for Christmas and hope the wind's blowing the right way.

I’m safely back out of it! That could have gone badly wrong. I’m now going to iron it flat and use some double sided tape to join it to the crisp packet and fix it behind the radiator.

MissA your foot does look rather swollen. I hope it’s not hurting. With regard to the crisp packets maybe a 6 pack and mould them into a pair of knee high boots might work. You could pump them up with a bicycle pump till they resemble Billy Connolly’s footwear in the 70s

Where are you GrannyNannyWanny? 😂

Look after it, you might need to stick it behind the radiator.

Ps do you sound like lovely Joe Pasquale now?

It was my 70th birthday 2 weeks ago and my children and grandchildren decorated the weekend holiday house before I arrived. At the end of the weekend they laughed at me cramming the large helium balloons into my car boot to bring home as I didn’t want to leave them behind after all the trouble they’d taken. Little did they know they’d have an invaluable purpose 🎈

Lying in bed laughing my head off and now feeling wide awake lol ! This thread is so funny!

Blue!
My fingers are a bit numb, it's chilly tonight.

😂😂😂

You're going bue with the cold!!

Great idea, but how do I knit myself a warm blanket when I'm swathed in crisp packets?

Good point. Back to the drawing board.

My foots a bit swollen.

A
Family bag might be better.

I’m starting off gently tonight and trying it as a mitt. I’ll be much cosier tomorrow when I have one for each hand .

Please don't, I have 🍷 all down my top now 😂

Ok how about a competition to see who can be the most inventive with a crisp packet/s . I shall be going shopping tmrw and will be purchasing sone crisps ( walkers of course as I do love them) I shall post a pic of my invention as to what I have done with my crisp packets/s . It won’t take long! I love! Crisps ( pics to follow in next day or so ) 🙂

I've seen this on YouTube. The crisp packets are washed and hung up to dry, then opened up and laid on a sheet, edges touching, like patchwork. Another sheet laid on top and a hot iron applied thus fusing the packets together to make a hypothermia blanket. I think I might make one and send it to Rachel Reeves. FFS.

*To be officially called home compostable the material needs to compost with in 26 weeks or less and because ours is between 27-36 weeks due to the extra layer of cellulose that is keeping them fresher for longer we can’t now use this term on our packs, but they can be used for home composting.*

Thanks for this info, Allira. I didn't know that. However, my heaps were older than that when I went to use the compost and the "biodegradable" teabags still hadn't composted. The tea leaves had and everything else in the heaps including a lot of wood. Hey ho, I say.

I think they're the only company that make these (nearly) home compostable packets.
I'm not sure of the availability of the product.

Never mind crisp packets, I am going to smear myself in goose fat and fashion a liberty bodice type garment from an old fleece top, then get someone to sew me into it for the winter. Will be unpicked next Spring.

What else can you throw at us Starmer?

My father in law used to tell us a tale of someone who sewed themselves up for the winter.

It was quite common for kids to be sewn in for the winter. I was messing around.

Oh, liberty bodices!

Who remembers them?
If you wore one the first time round you won't wear them again!

I've been investigating and Screwfix seem quite reasonably priced for foil to fit behind the radiators.

How is it fixed? I must admit we've never done this, our walls are dry lined.

Doublesided sticky tape. make sure it is 2-3 inches wide.

Thanks M0nica

We don’t do this either. All our internal walls are solid brick, and the cavities are filled with little insulating bubbles. The loft is well insulated too, and the windows and doors replaced and the glass double glazed. There’s not much more we can do. I don’t think either crisp packets or tinfoil would do any more.
