Is it about time that we had a new "Keep Britain Tidy Campaign" ? (Prompted by comments in the N & P section on the proposed National Service)
I remember it from my childhood and it is ingrained in me. So much so that if a tissue or a till receipt falls out of my bag or pocket I pick it up.
Several years ago, we were forced to wait in a MacDonald's car park whilst waiting for a tow truck to take us back to Suffolk. We were there for a few hours and so we had something to eat. There were several binds dotted around the car park but nearly everyone threw their rubbish out through the car windows. My DH remembers his father giving some litter to someone who'd dropped it and got a mouthful of abuse in return.
We haven't been back to the UK for about 6 years but I remember driving up the A12 and seeing vast amounts of litter. We get very little of that in France but what we do get, in rural areas, are ancient cars dumped in the woods. I've even seen an old Citroen DS which now sell for thousands (restored)
To Complain or Not To Complain?
Burnham to tell schools in England to adapt teaching to local business needs- what do you think?
