I didn't even know what the fuss was about. I'd heard about a photo being "changed" but nothing more. I'm not a Royalist at all and I don't care that much, BUT this time around folk just need to leave her alone. What a fuss.

The Fuss Over The Royal Family Photo
(268 Posts)Good grief! There's so much over-analysis and various "experts" giving opinions you would think that someone had revealed that they had conclusive proof that the Mona Lisa was faked.
It just seems to be the ONLY story at the moment - and I'm tired of it!
In the other thread and previous ones there are endless criticisms of Diana and Meghan, as far as I am aware they are women, what people mean is no criticism of women they like, I am afraid the claims of sisterhood dont really wash.
Some posters are continually making sniping remarks about women who complain of harassment as asking for it, bitching about Meghan, Diana, Fergie, but somehow making any negative comments about Catherine’s photo is being unsupportive of women. Either the RF are in the public eye and will be gossiped about, as they are frequently on here, or they cash it in and go and live on Capri. They aren’t forced into this role, they aren’t divine beings, they have a choice. I have no personal interest in the RF , they are an anachronism as is the House of Lords and the sooner the institution of monarchy withers away the better, but if you want one they are there to be photographed and discussed it comes with the territory. I made the shallow remark about the cannula to show the level of gossip I’ve heard over the last day or two. She just had surgery it wouldn’t be surprising if she still had the marks. So what - it might have been one reasonable reason for the photoshopping. Yes, let’s stop the gossip, but guess what next time she appears in a photo there will be headlines gushing about her outfit or how good she looks etc
Looking at the papers and media it's incredible how this has blown up. What a storm in a teacup. All this talk about how it's destroyed the Royal family's credibility!? What nonsense. Poor Catherine.
Is that an order, Bluebelle dearie?

So true Dickens many comments have really upset me, not
as a royalist but a woman , someone said ‘we deserve more’ , what blood ? Women talking and criticising a woman for such shallow reasons.
Oh, this is so right. If only the same had applied to Meghan….
Even Scobie jumped in to criticise.
I just hope that the Princess of Wales resists the temptation to read the newspapers and social media today and does not see what is being said. If, and it’s a big if, the newspapers were right and she had to make an appearance in a car to dispel rumours about her health, it is a disgrace. As for demanding that we see the negatives………. Have people gone mad, there are atrocities all over the world, the country is in an economic mess and an election is looking, yet people are more concerned on how a photograph was photoshopped, and using to humiliate a lady who thus far has not put a step wrong.

Since the inevitable comparisons are being made, I've said on here, a boring number of times, that there are things I admire in Meghan. What I disliked is her lying in the interviews, and that won't leave me for a long while.
Conversely, Catherine offered a swift apology yesterday and took responsibility for the cock up.
Time to move on.

Same for me Joseann I cannot defend lies
people are more concerned on how a photograph was photoshopped, and used to humiliate a lady who thus far has not put a step wrong.
This. 👏 👏 👏
It was reported on BBC news last night that genuine questions needed to be answered. No, not genuine, bloody nosey!
this thread will run and run with repetitive comments same with the same names keeping it going 'fighting' each other.
why not read the news and pick another discussion. this one's been done to death.

FYI lemsip, this is the first time I have commented on this subject, so no not repetitive. My only post here, check it out.
Discussing is not fighting. How bizarre.
Yet you posted lemsip

As far as I am aware, every individual in the UK has a right to privacy about their medical history.
I am always informed by the NHS about who will be able to access my data, and with whom it will be shared. I assume it's exactly the same if you are being treated privately.
Being endlessly papped by the media, either legitimately or without consent, during walks to church, attending this or that event, appearing at State functions, is - yes - all part of the territory that goes with the job. The public and therefore the media have an insatiable appetite for all-things-Royal which, I'm sure, the RF are aware of.
But they, surely, should have the same right as every other person in the UK when it comes to medical matters. They should have complete autonomy over their medical history.
I too believe the RF are an anachronism, but that doesn't alter the fact that I also believe Charles and Catherine should be allowed to determine how much information they share about their conditions - like everyone else. Only those directly affected need to know the details.
What "right" is being abused by the RF in not sharing the intimate details of their condition with the general public? And by what right are the public demanding access to it? Where is it written that members of the RF are obliged to share their medical data with the nation?
Suggestions that giving out more details will put an end to the speculation are nonsense. If these two members of the RF share more details - the more the public will speculate and hypothesise as they pick over the further details that are released, because their appetite is voracious and unappeasable.
There was no criticism of Sarah when she spoke of having cancer, in the past there has been for selling interviews.
No criticism of Megan when she broadcast her experience of a
miscarriage, there has been for her many lies.

You’re right - there’s no changing some people’s attutudes. The RF are sacrosanct / full stop / can do no wrong.
Who cares? Doesn’t make any diff either way.
What you have just written, Dickens, is illogical. If I were a public figure and told the press I had just had, say, an appendectomy, that becomes news for a cycle or two and then it’s over. What more is there to speculate about?
I did not say the RF has a duty to divulge details about health condition. I was pointing out that the RF chose to divulge some details about their health but not others. They send mixed messages.
It’s OK to talk openly about prostates and mental health but not OK to talk about whatever is now ailing the King and the Princess of Wales.
And yet the media is full of adverts telling us, the public, to get things checked - the current TV advert with the man carrying a box around knowing he feels unwell but too scared to see a doctor.
That’s what I am saying. The Royal Family and other public fugures are patrons and ambassadors for all kinds of health conditions so why not just say what is wrong and put an end to all the speculation? It would create public awareness of the condition and may persuade others to seek help and save lives.
Frankly, the Princess of Wales could have had her operation without it being made public knowledge. Medical staff are bound by confidentiality. It isn’t as if she was going to be treated on a shared ward. It was planned treatment. She will have been given priority and privacy. The Royal Family^ chose^ to make this public. And yes, we have media intrusion and the tabloids are voracious but we also have legal injuctions and super injunctions when the media overstep or are likely to overstep its bounds.

Do tell how Catherine missing from public duties for several months could have been explained
