Hi. Its called the Lower Otter Restoration Project. An amazing feat of engineering. It has won wards and is now drawing worldwide interest.
Chris Packham put the work on hold (!!) because there were some nesting dormice on site. But all's well that ends well and the the area is now teaming with wildlife.
PM me if you want more info, I'm a bit of an expert.... or I know someone who very much is!

Apparently Packham was concerned about nesting birds too, but it was the little furry creatures who got the media attention!

I believe not, MaizieD. The chopped trees were further up river in Colaton River on private land I believe. I did ask DS about them too, but he didn't know.
