Cottage Cheese 😝

I think previous posters mean Longley Farm- which is local to me?Their yoghurts are lovely too.Luckily I can buy it in lots of our local shops and we have hold farm shops selling it too.Not sure if any of the major supermarkets do.Maybe Morrisons ?But its the only one I like.I love it on rye crispbread with tomatoes. Or piled on a jacket potato. I tried the M &S one but it was nowhere near as creamy or tasty.

I tried making high protein pancakes with cottage cheese from a YouTube video but they weren't very nice. Basically eggs/cottage cheese/vanilla extract/flour/baking powder/milk smooshed up in a blender. They were okay but very eggy. It might have been my gluten free flour not working so I might try and amend the recipe a bit.

I don't think it's possible to make it palatable is it?

I like cottage cheese on a baked potato,hot veg or with a chopped up apple and walnuts!

Do you mind me asking why you are trying to up your protein, is that under medical advice? I only say that because a lot of people have chronic renal disease without knowing and too much protein can be harmful for the kidneys. A dietician I was referred to said she was not in favour of the high protein diets being pushed nowadays as being heathy, as they can be damaging. The amount of protein we actually need per day (unless exercising excessively etc or on a special diet for medical reasons) is surprisingly lower than I thought.

I love Langley Farm too, but I add olives or chopped up sun dried tomato. I wonder if Langley Farm tastes better as it’s not as wet as other cottage cheese and has a much firmer texture.

Simon Rimmer, the tv chef, demonstrated his mothers lasagne recipe one day. Instead of making a sauce layer, his mother used cottage cheese. I was sceptical but it’s actually delicious. I add just a little milk or cream to the cottage cheese to ensure there’s enough liquid to moisten the pasta layer. Try it!

I only like Langley Farm cottage cheese and it's nice on its own.

Nothing, but nothing could make cottage cheese palatable to me, I will be left feeling sick for 24 hours if I try to eat it.although I suppose you could stir some into made dishes like casseroles and currys to give them a creamy feel..

I used to mix it with banana, which I preferred to pineapple. Alas it reminds me too much of the constant dieting in my youth when I felt that cottage cheese was one of the few things I could eat. I used to like it on Ryvita but my teeth aren’t up to Ryvita any more!

Surely, the words "cottage cheese" and "palatable" should never be used in the same sentence?

Another vote for Langley Farm.I like the plain and also the pineapple one.
Have tried others but find them🤮

I really like it spread on good butter on very crunchy wholemeal crispbreads. 😋

I make a baked frittata/ crustless quiche with cottage cheese and eggs and whatever else I want as filling and flavours

I too like Langley Farm full fat cottage cheese. I’ve tried many but this is lovely and not watery at all.

I have it on cold toast, buttered and Marmited, and piled on top.

Use it instead of butter with whatever you put on top.

Langley Farm is the only plain cottage cheese I like. I add chives and tomato but I also like it with raspberries or blueberries as a dessert.

Plain cottage cheese is almost tasteless. I used to add pineapple or some spring onion to mine.

Ryvita marmite and then cottage cheese….if you are feeling rash top with cucumber! Marmite helps everything!

I love cottage cheese. My favourite way to have it is on toast topped with grilled tomatoes then the cottage cheese and sprinkled with Italian herbs or you could use chilli. . A similar option is to replace the tomatoes with mashed avocado perhaps bacon too. I also like it with smoked salmon with a jacket potato. All the above ideas I sometimes have on ryvitas.
